There is a reasonable chance we get turned over tomorrow and we all know what's going to happen Sunday. If we lose these two then we will probably slip into the bottom half and Ange will have the following PL record: P 53, W 26, D 8, L19. Now take out those first ten games which I know people don't want to do but it reads: P 43, W 18, D 6, L19. That is filthy form and many a manager has gone for far better under Levy. Can only see one outcome on Monday... Mason version 3.0
the form since the honeymoon 10 is filthy regardless of the next 2 results. he shouldnt of made it to the start of this season. even if we win the next two... P43, W 20 D6 L17 is fucking dog shit stuff. forget all the other stains against him (which are sackable in their own right), the results have been diabolical. the fact hes still in a job is down to yet more incompetence from levy. hes as slow as some of the fans that are still thinking this guys the answer. scary stuff.

I know you joined in November 2024 and are here talking big with zero context...I'm not talking to genuine fans be they Australian or any other.

We have a lovely German bloke an Italian from Turin we have Portuguese and Amercans. These people are assets. I'm talking specifically to the petty Nationalist that follow a particular manager like they are teenage BTS fans. And are utterly unable contribute ,because by their own admission they are here because Ange and never had a day's intrest before he fluked his way into the job. Unlike them I'm fully aware of the of the Australian sub continents relationship with English football, I've drunk in Sydney bars with the local Spurs supports groups. I'm not the one displaying my ignorance...mate.
why are you still bothering? you cant debate postecoglou with his fanboys the same way you cant debate son with his. they are basically religious weirdos, they are not spurs fans!

But that would be about where people see the squad wouldn't it? I'm assured that Daniel Levy and Enic haven't funded the squad at all appropriately (which I agree with) so when we have injuries we are in deep shit.

So those stats would suggest that when Postecoglou has a full 1st Team he overperforms relative to our wage bill. But when we suffer injuries we fall away dramatically (to where our wage bill would suggest we should be).

Is that not correct? :ange-bored2:
Makes sense, can't argue with the logic... I would argue that Levy hasn't funded the squad properly... money has been spent, lots of it but whether it's been spent well is the question. Ange doesn't have much faith in the "one's for the future" so I'd imagine he would have preferred Gallagher and Eze rather than Gray and Bergvall. If those two become top players it'll be a another manager benefits from it.

I don't understand. We finished 5th last year and are currently 3 points off 4th with a far greater GD.

Even with a massive and debilitating injury crisis Postecoglou remains on track to achieve the goals you think Daniel Levy has given him all the support he needs to do?

Something doesn't quite add up here.
Yes fans who want him out are full of their own bullshit!

Happy to talk to an actual Spurs fan. So here's the bit I think missed on the relative decline in the squad. The Kane era was going to end and Solanke or anyone wasn't going to be a direct replacement. But we haven't struggled for goals so that's not where the deficit is. Likewise we have not shipped lots goals do it can't be the Emerson Royal Eric Dire scapegoat.

So where are we failling short we can't just say 2018 we were great, now we are pants. Because things change. Man City are not what they were so that's changed nothing is static. We have always been four first team players short under Levy it didn't prevent Harry Redknapp, Mauricio Pochettino, if you look at that 2018 squad it had plenty of junk and holes.

Imho I think our biggest deficit right now is the entire coaching set up. From Ange to Jedinak they have under performed. This can be true Hampshire Spur Hampshire Spur and the squad can still be short.
Basically, like many things in life it's complex. Recruitment, coaching set up, Ange's tactics, etc., it can be all of these things - they do work to influence one another, after all. I would suggest my interpretation puts a little bit more emphasis on club culture and structure than yours, though I don't think we're far apart in our approximation of where Ange's weaknesses lie. I find the arguments on him on here similar to those under AvB, and as circular - e.g., excessively wedded to a system. I want to see a team that wants to attack, broadly speaking, but a level of pragmatism when needed is a must, and that's what Ange lacks.

PS I think you tagged the other Hampshire Spur in your post, which is easily done as there's two of us.

All these youngster have been reportedly getting rave reviews from training and are raring to go. So why aren’t they being played?

Obviously because it’s just bollocks and they aren’t ready. So why spend the cash? Ultimately Ange will pay the price for the results - influenced by the option she has available to him.

Don’t get me started on Moore - he’s just a kid but was touted as the next best thing, and he and Lankshear were clearly too good for U21 football. But is he injured? Unwell? Exams? Up too late?

Something happened that “isn’t serious” according to Ange. So where the fuck is he? And if we can’t actually use and develop him, what’s the plan then?
Yep, the situation around Moore is very mysterious, which makes me think it's a bit more than a 'sniffle'.

In the fragments I've seen it's clear he's a talented lad but it's vital we don't ask too much of him too early and ruin his development.

I don’t think he’s the answer at all - he’s clearly talented but not a super wonder kid like Rooney, Lamal etc.

But he was kept in the squad and the language has very much been around developing him and using him in games. Which hasn’t really happened outside of a couple of Europa games.

I mean ultimately Ange has been throughly fucked over with the squad hasn’t he. Regardless of the cash spent.

Add to that Vicario has underperformed (rank 13th in % of shots saved)

Looking at percent shots saved doesn't take into account the quality of the shots. To do that, you need to look at PSxG *Post-Shot Expected Goals: expected goals based on how likely a goalkeeper is to save the shot, ie how good the shot was.

The 41 shots on target that Vicario has faced have had a PSxG* of 0.39, which is basically the second highest in the league. An average keeper would have saved 61% of them ie 25. He saved 28 of them so he's +3 (actually +2.9) on saves vs expected saves. That +2.9 ranks him 4th in the league behind Onana (+4.5), Hermansen (+3.5) and Travers (+3.3). Worst is Jose Sa on -4.1; Pickford is sitting on -3.4, Martinez on -3.1, Raya -1.6.

Vicario hasn't underperformed.

Now as for why we are conceding high-PSxG shots, that's another story. We're conceding the second lowest number of shots on target, but they have been relatively good chances when we do concede them.

Yeah the hype around these kids does irritate me a bit. Remember Japhet Tanganga.

He's 17/18 I think, he might be great, might not. Too many noises from inside the club/client journalists about how he's the 'next big thing'. Let's just let him grow and develop and see what happens.

Lets see if it works out. We played well at the start of this season, however I always thought that even then when we were playing well, the praise was just a bit over the top.

A few things in my opinion:

- Not such a big fan of Ange the person, have to be honest. Still happy that he is positively viewed upon by the majority of the fanbase though. However, that is less important if the football is good. And on the other hand the league is full with weird people on the sidelines anyway nowadays.

- We are not able to hold the ball and control the game in decisive periods. This is expected with new and young players as well as a new coach in a first season, but Ange needs to realise that there are moments in which you just really need to slow the fuck down. Not park the bus, but keep possession of the ball if there are signs of fatigue or positioning errors.

- Conceding small amounts of high quality chances. Holy shit. This was already the case to some extent in the first few gameweeks. The last few games, the opposition, even if in slight offside positions, gained top quality chances. There is no way we can sustain this and no team ever plays this way. So many goal scoring chances by running down the flanks and just putting in a bouncing cross because effectively we have no one closing down these kind of plays. VDV does his very best to deny this. So either 1) the fullbacks only join in attacking in certain scenarios or 2) the fullbacks are not sacrificed all the time and can support the two centerbacks.

I believe in the long run we will be just fine, however one style of play is not going to be enough. We have a well talented squad now without the deadwood of the seasons before. So there is an option to implement something new. Hopefully Ange sees this as well.
It has been almost a year and it has gotten worse.

Just found out Postecoglou is a Carlton fan :ange-confused:

GET HIM OUT NOW! :D

Why does this sweet, innocent young man offend you so?
