Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So who do you think that will improve us will work for Levy if we sack Ange, especially considering we are clearly reducing salaries despite the stadium ?

I am genuinely of the belief if you are better than Ange you wait for an offer from a club that will match your ambition . Spurs most definitely are not that club in my opinion
I dislike AP's basketball approach to the game. It's an "immature" view of how the EPL game should played. If Ange went I'd like to see us buy out Thomas Franks contract at Brentford. This is a manager who thinks about the game and opposition pre-match and sets his stall out accordingly but is capable and not afraid to alter things mid-game if he feels it's needed.

Now is the time to bring in "difference makers." It's not like we don't have the capacity to accommodate higher wages for that type of player.
I'm afraid that the "difference maker" wouldn't come to the present THFC. He would prefer a club that aims at the top. Only if you present a major plan with other significant signings he would. As other clubs have done. To bring an extreme example, do you think that Mbappe would come whatever the salary?

Wrong example Bruv, all Mbappe would do is destabilise the dynamic on the pitch, like he's done at RM. He's really not that much of a difference makers IMO.

I get your gist though, but don't necessarily agree with it. All we can do, at this point in time, is speculate on what the plan is for the squad. There's been a lot of angst about us reducing the wage bill, but no one has considered that this is possibly a result of 'clearing the decks' so we have the capacity to bring in those game changers at a wage they're happy with. If we are approaching these players with the plan to be challenging for all honours, including CL, then there's no reason to believe they wouldn't see us as a good move.

I refuse to believe that we are winging it and don't have that plan mapped out. We are in a similar position to where we were when Poch started. Clearing the decks and reducing the squad age. The difference between then and now is our ability to shop in the higher bracket. That was a 5 year plan, so I fully expect we have similar now.

Unlike a few on here though, I'm not claiming this as fact, just my opinion on how we will proceed. Only time will tell if I've hit a bullseye or missed the board completely.

I quite like Frank, however this magical ability to change things that are not working

PL away results this season
6 losses 1 draw
The draw was Everton

Is that 'cos when any woman sees you they say...oh god?....

100% fair to say he started well.
To the untrained eye he started very very well.

But those who knew. Knew.

The end of that season was not going to look like the start.
Till I'm blue in the face....

We were lucky against Sheff United and 9 man Liverpool.
We were mere seconds away from a home loss to the worst team in the league last season. We were seconds away from needing a dodgy VAR decision to "earn" a draw against 9 man Liverpool.
The last few seconds of those two games really changed the outlook of those first 10 games.
Had we have finished at 99 minutes instead of 103 against SU (I'm guessing those numbers) we'd have spent a whole match huffing a puffing but doing little damage.
Had we not beaten 9 man Liverpool, it would have made the 1-4 home loss (that would have been 8 but for wasteful finishing) look even more puzzling. 9 men shouldn't be able to avoid defeat unless they had a head start.

According to the usual negative posters (John Thomas, Davey88, Doom Funk), the owner is shit, the manager is shit and nearly all the players are shit but its still unacceptable to be losing games. No constructive feedback or ideas. Just give out about everyone and everything at the club, especially any fans who are caught supporting the team!
You can @ mention me , I don't bite

Unless you ask

Actually you agree :)

Walking away from the Australia job is not the same as walking away from a top 4 PL job and all the incredible money and status that this role offers. Not even fucking close.

And you don't know him either, he's not your mate, you're just a fan watching from afar and idealising a figure because you feel he represents you in some way. Projection.
He represents winning games of football and trophies with a style that makes you sit back and go gee whizz how was that for you cause I think that was as good as it gets. That's why we love him and follow him, it's not happening right now, consistently that is, there is a tension between him and the squad as a whole unit because they are definitely not working for each other every game every minute trying to score, that isn't normal for Ange and the teams I've watched him coach.

Glad someone else is beginning to see sense.

Spurs this season have scored the 3rd most goals, conceded the 3rd least and conceded the 2nd least shots on target in the Premier League.

We've had Vicario, Romero, Van de Ven, Bentancur, Solanke, Richarlison all available for one reason or another. We've massively cut the wage bill (in which has meant the squad isn't as big) - On top of all this Ange has got us performing statistically. The losses and draws aren't all on him, it's individual errors, poor judgement from players or missed chances.

I see a lot about our losses to Ipswich and Palace... So, say we beat Ipswich 2-1 and Palace 1-0, but then lost to City 4-0 and Man Utd 3-0, what would be getting said then? Most probably "We should be beating Ipswich and Palace, the real tests are City and United"
This is a huge point, the whole 'you never know what you're gonna get with Spurs, they beat the good teams but lose to the bad ones' is complete recency bias. Last year our record against the top six was pretty crap - lost twice against Chelsea, didn't beat either of City or the scum, beat United but they were pretty crap and had that win over Liverpool which if we're honest we didn't deserve. This year we've claimed a couple massive scalps in beating City twice, the manner of that win and the United win is a differential to last year. Obviously though we've had increased problems taking our chances against teams that sit deep. Sometimes I think people pay too much attention to watch Sky or those silly little youtubers say, and don't actually look at the facts.

There are actual self confessed Ange Postecoglou fans in this thread who only started following Spurs and joined this forum when he became manager. And will in all likelihood leave whenever he does....That's bizarre in itself.

But these very fans are pontificating about supposed negativity and telling life long, dyed-in-the-wool yids how we should be rallying around and embracing under performance and mediocrity......I mean wow!! Now that is just downright weird

This fucking place, man. :kanegoal:

todd1882 todd1882 had my back last season when I pointed this out.

That was it. Everyone else piled on. Disagrees got removed when the forum changed but it was a controversial take.

At one points it was up to 200 disagrees….. maybe.
