Look, guys. I've already kind of used to the fact that Ange does not manage team during the game. Just sulks there with weird expression on his face on the sidelines. But today hit a new low for me.

I was watching the game and in first half I felt that - yea, possession-wise, Woolwich was dominating. But we were solid! We did not go pressing in their 3rd, and that was fine, cause we could contain them in our half. On other side we managed to counter them and created few really good chances. OK, we conceded one from the corner (that never should have been corner) and then got carved open when Bissouma lost the ball. But even at 1:2 at half time I was kind of hopeful. We were able to contain them in defense and stinged on the counter. First half time xG - 0,57 for them: 0,36 for us (info from Understat; in some other sources HT xG was even 0,38 to us and 0,33 for them).

Then, enter tactical mastermind of Ange ... took off our midfield (Bissouma and Sarr)... to bring on Madders and Johnson (?!?).

2nd half we were all over the place. Conceded many good chances and did not create anything ourselves. I saw not a single moment from 2nd half that would have made me believe we could get something from it.
xG for 2nd half - 1,69 for them and 0,42 (!) for us.

And what did our master tactician say after game?!?
Highlighted POOR FIRST HALF PERFORMANCE. And said we improved on the 2nd half ?!? Never been more WTF with him before really.

He really claimed that half where our xG improved by 0,09 while we allowed them to improve their xG by 1,12 was AN IMPROVEMENT? Come on, he is definition of clueless. He could not notice an acceptable playing spell when it hits him into face. And praised the half where Woolwich was clearly the better side. Is he actively trying to get sacked to talk such absolute bullshit?!?

I disagree about the second half. We needed to get points. To do that we needed to score. More of the same meant a loss. I thought it was high risk high reward strategy taking off two defensive-minded mids for two attackers. We had more of the ball played in their half, we were in the front foot. (you could say they let us, whatever).

What we lacked is players with pace up front. Solanke, Kulu, Richie Son are too slow.

In the end we didn't score again and neither did they.

Quite frankly for a team in its FIFTH year of delopment they are shit.

This needs to stop somewhere. I'd get over a loss to Everton if that's what it takes. Levy need to dig out his Klarna card. Ange is finished, Son is finished. There's a decent group of players here otherwise but they need coaching.

Google "Postecoglou sack" and there is definitely more traffic than usual.

Plenty of people finally writing about it and making the right noises.

It's really hard to decide what I think about Ange. Ultimately, I don't think he's anything approaching a top level coach for this league. I do think he's a good communicator, I think the players give what they have for him, I do think his teams play with a gimmicky style that can be scintillating when it works / the team are in good shape / players are fit / the opposition are play us suitably. Our squad is obviously deficient, our talismanic forward is aging out, our best players (Kulusevski, Romero, VDV) aren't really top level players. Is Romero and VDV a top cb partnership in a more sensible team? Closer to it, yeah.

Watching that game last night, whatever about our cb partnership, a team with more clinical forwards batters us. I think our oop shape is generally appalling. I do give Ange until season's end. Judge him on the run-in and how we do in the cups, not on this injury-hit period. I'm quite relaxed about it all, I don't really expect us to be a top-ish team for a while yet, if ever.

TBH, if I didn't think I'd get forced to do something even worse, I'd probably give it up.
It's little more than an excuse now to get out of the house.

I don’t think that losing by one goal at Woolwich will be enough for Levy to pull the trigger, irrespective of how poor we were, but the next four games are massive for Ange.

Nothing less than three wins and a draw (at Everton) will be enough to save him.

I reckon Maddison fell out with him months ago over the shit form and thats why he's been benched so much this season despite being probably our most productive midfielder. Put into context he has played 600 mins less than Kulusevski (probably our most used midfielder you would say), but has been involved in a higher % of our goals this season and has actually scored 8 in the league from quite a low amount of minutes. Put simply, it doesn't really make sense why he isn't being used to the same extent as Kulu (apart from notions that Ange can't find a way to play them both in the same team) which makes me look at potential other reasons why Ange might be so hesitant to rely on him much?

And what about the other 10 games we've lost in the league?
Or that we drew 0-0 with Tamworth in the last game?
Or that after the first 10 games of last season we were just as bad as we are now?

He should have been sacked last December (2023) or last summer (2024)
The man is not a football manager.

I've thought for ages that Mads has probably told him the truth and been dropped.
And that's a concern as every other player is probably now thinking "If I don't do what I'm told, I'll get dropped too"

Nothing else makes sense to me anymore, how can you be starting Kulu last night who is running on fucking fumes and have Madds on the bench? I think he's been unfairly judged this season off cold starts from the bench by some of our fans as well, he's our only midfielder who is really incisive in the final third, and if a new manager came in and gave him a new lease on life in our midfield I think you would see results instantly improve.
