Yes, all this is true. But (opinion coming up), when a level of X's built up against a person, people started to foul vote en masse. It seems as though that's not really happening anymore. I may be wrong, but I never am.
Admin Admin harry7 body of work is so cretinous and mum's basement level it would have earned multiple bans in the past. Its like Admin went on some course with Levy called module one: LET IT BURN 🔥

Youre right we do have a bunch of losers in this fanbase. The ones who think winning a cup where we faced 1 good team the whole tournament whilst being down in 17th is some
Amazing achievement, those are the ones with a loser mentality.

Some of us want more from our side than 17th in the league and a cup run, some of us think we could of been in this exact position in europa whilst still being in around the top 6 in the league with a competent manager. Those making excuses for this season are the ones with a clear agenda of not wanting to admit they were wrong. We were favourites for this competition at the start of the season, most people on here thought we had a good chance of winning it before the season started (due to the rule change) and not a single person thought that would come at the cost of finishing 1 place above relegation.

Every spurs fan will celebrate and have a memorable night should we win, but it doesn’t paper over ange being well out of his depth for this role. Same way our last cup winning manager (who had to beat Woolwich in the semis and Chelsea in the final) is still looked at as being a massive failure at spurs, despite winning more than someone like Poch or Redknapp.

There you go again, playing down the achievement of winning a trophy, you are literally solidfying my post lmao

Everything else you've conflated here is irrelevant.

Have you foul voted the troll?

Man, even the Cup Winners' Cup was unreal back in the day...and much more fierce than this season's EL. Fuck you Ange, I ain't diminishing your legendary achievement, I'm just talking facts.

That Parma side from early 90s (that made a few finals IIRC) was literally incredible. PSG made two finals in a row and what a side they had even before all that Qatari cash. The great Barca with the original Ronaldo won it. Few years prior I seem to recall there was the likes of Napoli, Real, Juve, Ajax, Monaco, Dortmund, Atletico, Roma, Porto competing in it. Our cunty next door neighbours obviously won it, as did the criminal chavs in blue and the northern pricks we're about to face in Bilbao.
I used to find it daft that back in the day winning the more prestigious FA Cup got you into the less prestigious Cup Winners Cup, whilst winning the less prestigious League Cup got you into the more prestigious Uefa Cup...

Both the European competitions were much more prestigious back then, before the CL became the be all and end all. I wonder, is it really more profitable financially to have one golden goose and two afterthought trophies, over three very prestigious ones?

I mean I'm sure it must be, it wouldn't be very in character for Uefa to be leaving money on the table, I just can't really fathom the logic of it.

I'm fucking ecstatic we're in this trophy. I'm fucking ecstatic we have a chance of winning. If we win it'll be one of the greatest individual moments I've experienced supporting this club.

But come on, a losers mentality is surely the people meekly accepting and explaining away a record worst PL season to date. People saying we should throw matches.

I know it's not all on Ange, our board sets us up to fail. But I won't ever accept a league season like this and I will never accept being told I have a losers mentality because I don't like losing on a habitual basis. That's just ironic.

All this talk of playing down the Europa League is cope because people don't like the manager so if he does win it playing down makes them feel better about themselves and what they've been telling people all along.

Essentially we have a bunch of losers in this fanbase that want to be proven right and cannot take being wrong so they put their egos in front of the club, they honestly sound like a bunch of rival fans trying to desperately play down any successes the club will/may have.
I don't really think it's fair to say that winning the EL will prove anybody wrong.

He is a poor manager at this level, he is out of his depth, and I'll be absolutely delighted if we win the EL, but the level of opposition conquered along the way means that it simply can't be used as a counter argument to the dire league performance.

In terms of overall excitement, personally I'd be much more excited about the potential win if it felt like we were a really good side and the trophy felt like reward for that, or if we were a genuinely exciting bunch and it looked like the beginning of a period of sustained success.

Unfortunately right now, neither are true. The general consensus is that almost everything needs to be ripped up and begun anew, from manager, to playing personnel, to overall behind the scenes structure. So as exciting as it is, it's not as exciting as it should be. It's just a freak season that we might somehow come away the beneficiaries of.

It’s 16th vs 17th, you guys are absolutely insane acting like admitting the quality might not be the highest is some form of heresy.

It’s still a cup, it would still be a great day and awesome to win, but absolutely the levels aren’t great or two teams hovering about relegation wouldn’t both be finalists lmao.

Absolutely wild how admitting this makes you a loser. Apparently we should all look at the sky and say it’s yellow to make you imbeciles happy.

I'd love them to go back to the old format, even for a season, just to see what happens. IIRC it was considered pretty close in prestige between the UEFA and CWC. There wasn't actually all that much between them in how hard they were to win, though as explained previously, UEFA had more strong teams and so was the strongest, but not the most prestigous, of the three.

A big change of course, and a sad one tbh, is the huge concentration of resources and strength in fewer teams these days vs back then. There were literally dozens of strong teams back then, and a well coached side with a great manager could come in and do very well or even win one of these three tournaments.

Fair. I am more positive on the playing side that you. I think we are 2-3 elite players away from a really decent top 5 squad. We will never win the league with Levy, so that's about as good (plus cups) as we can expect.

You say you're just talking facts but the truth is that when we won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1963 there were only 16 teams in the whole competition - three two-legged knock-out games and a final in Rotterdam, 7 games in total.

We beat Rangers, Slovan Bratislava and OFK Belgrade to meet Atleti in the final.

There was a lot made in the papers about Iraola meeting up with the Bournemouth owner to discuss his future a few weeks ago and they were expecting him to sign a new contract. That’s all gone quiet hasn’t it? Makes me wonder if we’ve already feed him up. Not that I’m sure that’s the correct move.

I wouldn't be surprised if their Chairman didn't fly in to try an get Iraola to stay.

He wouldn't need to fly over to offer him a new contract, he could do that via a conference call or at the end of the season?

Wouldn't surprise me after the Ange hiring fiasco if Levy hasn't already got a manager lined up.

You're obviously happy with 17th. As for cup success who have we played and beaten in any of the cup's this season that are any good ? Seriously.. Frankfurt
Whenever we have played anyone any good (Cups) we've lost and some posters wanna keep Ange - I honestly believe these people are watching Spurs with both eyes closed

What many in here are glossing over is that if we continue this form into next season we will be in a relegation fight.

Forget about one win in our last eleven, i understand Ange is keeping players back ready for next week, but we have been terrible way before entering the EL knock out stages.

Nothing has convinced me that if he stays anything will change, and the EL opposition has been well below PL standards.

He really is at a point of no return. Thank fuck.
