Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Something that really concerns me about next season:

5 of our 10 total wins this season were clustered in the first 10 weeks. Then we earned a total of 5 points in the 11 matches between weeks 13 and 23 and were poor the rest of the season.

In the year previous it was very much the same, 8 of the 20 total wins were in the first 10 weeks.

That is to say, if Ange is retained we can consider that he might be sacked early in the season, but the established pattern is a short burst at the start and then relegation form ever after.

Hoping that if Ange were retained there might be the prospect getting off at the first stop seems unlikely. What seems more likely is another season like this one, where it isn't bad enough out of the gate for Levy to make a change, and Levy won't be able to sack him thereafter if "we're still in the cups".

The bigger worry for me is for an entirely lost next season, not just having to scramble for a manager in October.
5 points from 11 games, and then we were poor...

:ange-hands-head:

I don't know if I would really.

It's a difficult one to ponder even, because I reckon it's practically impossible that we could navigate a path to a CL win whilst also being that bad in the league, the Europa win stretches credulity to it's limit, but remains just within the realms of possibility due to the opposition involved.

There's no way that happens in CL, realistically the odds of us doing well in that next year are much better if we are actually playing well and getting results in the league.

However, as a pure hypothetical, I still think I'd lean towards no, because it's a whole season of being beaten down by Spurs in the 38 domestic games. This season has ground me down to complete apathy, and I don't like feeling that way, it's worse than coming away from a defeat infuriated. Unlike our players, I can't just switch that on/off for different competitions.

What does CL really mean to me if it doesn't come with the feeling that Spurs are the best team in Europe? You can't delude yourself into believing that if you finish 17th in your domestic league.

Seen it all now. Spurs fans too good for a Champions League Trophy just to own Ange.

Fucking hell :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Right, that's it - I'm holding my breath until that bloody Levy makes up his mind.

There is zero chance Levy would take this long to announce Ange simply staying in post.

Absolutely true, and yet

It means the European Cup, what the fuck is wrong with you people?
When your thinking about it in relation to being directly tied to abysmal league performance then I think this is relevant personally. Do you follow Spurs purely for a one off night once in a blue moon, or do you follow us every week and watch every game?

In any other aspect of life would you agree to 99 days of torture for one day of joy?

Anyway, are we all debating this ad nauseum largely due to the question of sticking with Ange? Fact is I don't want to be in a position of having to choose, I want us to hire a less limited manager that can compete in both. A Manager that's capable of making us good in the league is much more likely to take us further in CL, this season's Europa campaign is a freak and should not trick people into believing that there is some perverse relation between being fucking gash in the league and succeeding in Europe.

I don't think you really took the intended message from that.

If I won the Euromillions I'd be over the fucking moon, I wouldn't however consider myself a financial whizz and give myself any credit for it.

The players want trophies because they want to be the best. If it was just to own a shiny trophy, they could just order them from amazon.

If we did win CL, whilst doing just enough to avoid relegation, would you claim we were the best team in Europe?

Why would Levy need to confirm what's already agreed by contract?
It wouldn't be Levy dropping a vid saying "Hi guys just to let you all know..."

But if it was business as usual with the contract being honoured... There would absolutely be clear leaks/briefings to the press, with all this speculation. There's the hypothetical official announcement of him being sacked, or the hypothetical covert announcement of him staying.

You're just trying to minimise the joy and meaning of winning this European Trophy because it boils your piss that it was won under Postecoglou.

To extend that out to Champion's League is just utter fucking bollocks. Ludicrous.

250, 000 people in North London celebrated. Why on earth can't you just go with that and stop this ridiculous nonsense?

He'll be gone soon. You'll have your "got the manager sacked" trophy. You don't need to do this anymore.

No, you're just imagining that I have any ill will towards Ange.

I have no issue with him whatsoever, aside from thinking he's not all that at managing.

It boils my piss that we were fucking shite all season, and I don't wany to watch that for another year.
