Ultimately Im Ange out.

I think he has been the perfect transitional manager for us, but I dont think he has what it takes to step on from here.

Coming off the back of Mourinho/Nuno/Conte - I think we needed the new broom.

Ange has come in, completely swept away all that old stuffiness, stigma, hangover from the prior years.

Refreshed the squad, refreshed the football with a great emphasis on attack, and also got that trophy monkey off our back.

He's been perfect, in that context, imo.

However, from here on - I dont see him as having enough about him to continue that progress.

Far to many issues from last season to resolve, and Im not sure Ive seen enough in his last two years to suggest he would step up in the required ways to improve on them all.

If he were to leave us now, with someone else taking the reigns and pushing us on - he would go with my full support and gratitude, and I think in years to come we could look back on his time as a real turning point.

If he is to stay, for me, Id really want to see wholesale changes in the coaching setup. He strikes me as a Fergie kind of manager, in that he sets the tone, has the vision, is literally "the Manager" - but that requires he has the right level of coaches beneath him to make it all happen at the right standards. I cant say I think he has that right now.

He'll also need to step up himself, establish more conitnuity in performance, especially when rotating properly, and showing more pragmatism over dogmatism.

He signed off on the squad, he gave the green light to go and buy Gray, he personally wanted Odobert, at what point did his own actions become excuses to defend him with?
We were ahead of Chelsea last season in the same circumstances as them, we spent more than they did last season, they've gone and won a European trophy this season and finished 4th having spent less and going through a new manager's first season. United are proof plenty that spending hundreds of millions on players does not equate directly to success. So actually I think it's entirely fair to compare us to a team that finished 1 place beneath us last season and 13 places ahead of us this season, having also won a European title of their own.
Both were club signings. Age and cheap wages. Ange wanted Gallagher and Neto but club would not meet wages demands.

You can blame Ange for being a yes man and not giving out that he didn't get the senior players he wanted. But lets not skew the facts. They were 100% club signings and Ange was told to make it work.

Maresca got Neto and Sancho. Sancho is on 350k a week! Odobert is on 25K a week! Can't compare us to Chelsea. Chalk and cheese.

There will be people in this forum who will legitimately celebrate harder the day Ange is moved on than the day Tottenham won their first European trophy in over 40 years.

Everyone of them looking to the future, not the recent past.

I don't want to piss another twenty two hundred quid down the shitter on a ST just to to see us lose half our home games.

Winning the EL is all well and good, but like Fergie would do, we move on and prepare for next season, i mean some of those winners won't be with us come August including the fraud in charge.

Clearly drawing up all the fucking NDA's is taking a long time and probably most of our transfer budget to pay for the fucking lawyers...

Most likely the changes above the manager are the reason for delay.

Board changes, exec changes... its all got to be straight before the club can move forward.

Said with such conviction. Also you..

All them ITK accounts are clueless these days. Be it transfers or team news, they all seem to be in the dark and guessing. Nobody knew Romero was nearly back until he showed up in training this morning!

So enlighten us as to why your version of events is the truth, aside from confirmation bias

No, saying "it's more than what 90% of managers have achieved" is meaningless, as I said, the vast majority of coaches that enter football management will never win a competition of any kind in their entire career, that means that by default, any competition win puts you ahead of the vast majority of the pack. You can debate the merit of one Europa league win and how successful or not that makes Ange, personally I really don't think it proves anything tbh, plenty of coaches have won the Europa league more than once who will not be particularly well remembered either. Juande Ramos won 2, plus a league cup, don't think he'll go down as a generational manager though...

Yes that's the nature if winning. You're either one or you're not.

BINGO!

It’s a binary choice for some that assume wanting Ange gone makes you less of a Spurs fan!
I don't think that is what is being said. It is perfectly reasonable to want Ange gone. In fact I actually would be relieved if I hear he gets sacked today! I'm 50/50 on it and really just want a decision made ASAP. I'll support whoever is our manager next season.

The issue is some fans clearly hate Ange on a personal level and have zero respect for him. I find that behavior strange. He did win us a trophy and deserves some credit for that. There is a narrative built on here that Ange is a total fraud and will never get a managerial job again.

Possibly but welcome to Tottenham. Its how every manager has had to operate over the last 30 years. Most have been given a lot less in terms of squad depth. Its pretty boring saying it but thats why we need someone who improves individuals and can build a team with what he's given.

Its so obvious! You think Ange even knew who Odobert was? Ange was watching French u21 games all summer was he and catching up on Burnley highlights? The club told him we can't get Neto and here is the cheap young alternative!

Bringing up "they got Sancho" just perfectly accentuates my point. What did he do this season? Fuck all. Neto was ok, nothing more. Cole Palmer is their best player by far and he cost them £24m and was 21 when signed, hardly a seasoned pro with extensive gametime. Pretty similar bracket to Odobert really. Ditto Madueke who is also up there in their squad now.

Chelsea didn't do a lot in the window this season, almost the same squad finished a place below us last season, we spent plenty in the summer and more on one player (Solanke) than they did. People bring up the "teenagers" thing like Bergvall hasn't been about our only good player in the last 5 months in the league, the simple fact is Chelsea continued developing players and got better as a unit from last season, we massively regressed in every department including performances, injuries and individual development, many of our players are putting in worse performances now than they ever have done in their Tottenham career.

I agree and I really am not sticking up for Ange at all. He has been really really poor at using the squad and adopting to different players being unavailable.

But there is no need for posters to make stuff up and pretend that Odobert was an Ange signing. As if Ange walked into Levy's office at the start of the Summer and said Odobert is the player I want. I'm just trying to keep a bit of realism on here.
