Wenger was an absolute nobody
That anyone ever believed that a winner of the French league (stronger and more competitive then than it is now) and general success over the longer term at a tactically forward-thinking Monaco was an "absolute nobody" showed why Wenger was going to be a revolution in English football.

He's a self-important goof who is easy to make fun of, but he's the hinge figure of English football.

I did say a few times last season that I couldn’t believe what Conte was doing wanting us to defend deeper and deeper and absorb pressure so much on the edge of our box and sometimes deeper with the defenders we have and their ability. Surely the best way to not concede, especially if you’ve shit defenders, is to keep the ball as far away from your own goal as possible. Whilst at the same time have as much of the ball as possible. Conte’s football really was fucking stupid.
Yes, we were always 'a goal waiting to happen', weren't we - and not in a good way. Even I could see that.

Sometimes the best form of defence is attack - we can't defend for long periods of time and sit on one goal leads like some teams can. We desperately need to replace Dier & Davies who are both make shift centre backs for us to a degree.

Absolutely right. We have a team full of attack minded players and he decides we need to be defensive, Italian, slow build up. Absolute cunt!!!

Looks like it's this man. Hope he does well I wanted Nagelsmann as I think he has the ability to take us further and more importantly get more out of this current squad.

Hopefully Postecoglou can prove me wrong he seems a genuinely likable guy and hopefully he gets us going again if he is appointed of course.

I'm not being funny but, at the end of the day, let's face it, to be honest, it's literally 110% true that if you take the bull by the horns, a cliche will last an eternity.

Ok, but it’s not like it was a flying success. It was 2 months which isn’t a good length.

That’s fair. Argentina is obviously a desirable position.

He didn’t advance out of the group stage of the 2002 WC, which you conveniently left out. That’s got to be disappointing for Argentina. Is winning the Olympics significant? No one seems to field real teams nowadays but I don’t remember back then.

Ok, but it doesn’t mean he had much experience in big leagues. It’s fair to say their experience was comparable at the time (2 months vs 0).

Well yeah it’s a UEFA pro license, so why would he have one if he never coached in UEFA? Not sure if you were being intentionally misleading there so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.

No offense but you are doing the same thing.

Did he or did he not get a job in a top European league at age 43?

That's what it boils down to. He did enough to be noticed and offered that job. Then went and did about 8 years as an international coach then back to Europe.

As for the 2002 world cup, wasn't their best. Poch got sent off and gave away the penalty that saw England through and them knocked out.

What does everything being fine have to do with your claim that we won't spend money on managers?

And just to preempt you, we could spend very little on a manager and be fine, or we can spend a fuckton on a manager and not be fine at all.
The big problem is we charge prices like a top club and talk alot of talk about wanting to be competitive, but we don't spend like one.

Not going after the best available targets shows you everything about what Levy and ENICs true interests are. That is the frustrating part.

We'll finish somewhere between 7th and 10th next year.

I'm honestly not sure I even want to watch next season.
Yeah, that’s the general sense I’m getting from the ‘Poch Years’ fans.
With Spurs, you’re either in it for the long haul — its ruined hope and all — or not. I’ll be happy when all the fair-weathers who think finishing 8th is the end of the world as we know it simply move on to the New England Patriots, Miami Heat, Liverpool or whatever. At least we’ll lose some of the hysterical ‘we’re doomed’ stuff I have to suffer daily.

Unfortunately turns out he was miles ahead of everyone, that was a laugh.

Still I don’t recall which of the Italian giants it was that Grampus gazumped for his employ
