It's trending substantially the same way as it tends to when he joins a new club, only faster, by now it shouldn't be a surprise and honestly it's not, I completely expect him to be very successful because I've seen it all before.

They don't even look half way there to his style of play to me, they're still pulling their punches so to speak, not letting that first instinctive most incisive pass fly most times or making the runs with complete commitment, it comes with time, building the confidence in other players that they're going to let the pass go or make the run and they're not going to look like bums for having tried it, rather the team will be down on them for not having made the play.

The whole open at the back thing is an ever present criticism that never pans out. The criticisms are being made as if this is the finished product, it's nowhere near and the defence is the last to fall into place, they'll be rock solid, always are.

Can only think some people on this thread are jealous rival fans?

If you haven’t been impressed by our start you must not have been watching very closely.

To transform the style of football so quickly after years of low possession, low block boredom shows signs of an incredible coach.

I think for various spells against Bournemouth it was the best football I have seen across any PL game so far this year. Better than Woolwich or City have shown even.

If you aren’t excited by the start, you are following the wrong sport.

I’m not saying we will win the league, we might not even get top 4, but the style and performance have been impressive.

What makes it even more exciting is we have seen this VAST improvement at such an early stage. Imagine what he can achieve in due course….

The cult of Ange has followed him wherever he goes so this is not unusual, but the sheer volume of media and interest that comes from being in charge of a big PL club means it's on a scale not seen before. I think it is exacerbated by the fact that he usually comes to a club that is suffering, so anything positive that happens is blown up by desperate fans and balloons out of control. And then he wins a cup or two and it goes mental. If he follows script, he will win something with Spurs and a bigger club that's also been in bad shape will look at this portly, unassuming and quietly spoken man and make an enquiry with his management.

I expect you'd still tear them down.

I just wouldn't put them up.

Took me much longer than 1 good season to fall in love with Poch, let alone a few promising games to start off a season.

BTW my own optimism/pessimism/whatever doesn't have a single bit of impact on yours. I think some of you lot sound more than a bit culty, you lot think I'm a negative nelly. It's fine. I won't tear down your posters but nor will I put up any of my own.

Only people who feel the need to exude 'toxic' positivity will feel otherwise.

Yes, at the time. If we didn't get our next managerial appointment right it was eminently possible. The early signs are we have (far from definitive and the quality of the performances has been overstated) so top 8 seems doable.
You mean before a ball had been kicked this season?

So many of you wet the bed.

But it’s a football forum. People get way too low and way too high. It’s part of the fun I suppose.

I think we've impressed for exactly three halves of football in 3 games. Early shoots of being entertaining but ultimately probably very beatable for good teams.

But yes, some of you are acting like a cult. You have for a while with your nonsense twitter hipster posting acting like the manager is some genius with some unforeseen tactics instead of a positive bloke who wants to play on the front-foot.

If we finish higher than 6th feel free to stick up your Ange posters.

The thing is, cult or no cult the manager is a genius. To take us from the turgid, negative football we have played for 3 years to the side we are now in the space of 6 weeks whilst losing arguably our greatest ever player is just crazy. You'd have to be an exceptional manager to achieve such gains in this sort of timeframe.

To just say that Ange like attacking football is to simplify what has already been achieved. I don't think many people understand the complexity of the job that Ange is doing given his starting position when he took the job.

Why not just enjoy the ride?

Who isn’t enjoying it? I’ve enjoyed the games a lot more.

I don’t need to lose my head or call Ange a mega genius to enjoy things. I’ve seen good & bad stuff but generally thought the shoots are there.

You’re free to do things your way.

lol I do admit I was going over the top with the twitter shit tbh. I even had to mute that guy I posted on here saying that Kane's last season was better than Messi's 91 goal year.

I've said a few times on here we'll get a fair share of batterings this season playing this way which will lead to people asking questions about the play style. I also predicted before the season started that we'd finish 6th.

As for his tactics, I don't think they're unforeseen. I did say last week that he essentially plays 'Total Football' and is inspired by Cruyff which is nothing new obviously. Which is why I didn't think there would be too much a problem for him adapting to the Prem.

Even De Zerbi, who I like a lot, isn't inventing the tactics he uses. Everyone's talking about how he baits the press but that's an old tactic that's been a part of Italian football for a long time. Conte did it as well and pretty much all of his attacking patterns are based on that. You invite pressure and attack the space left behind. There aren't really any new tactics in football.

However I don't think the tactics can be reduced to just playing on the front foot either. Ardiles also played on the front foot. No one would say that Conte is the same as Pulis just because they're both defensive in their approach. There is a level of coaching that goes into it.

What Ange does better than most is find a way to hide the deficiencies of each player in his system, whilst highlighting each players individual qualities. He also improves his players which is what a good coach does. Can the same be said for alleged "serial winners" Conte and Mourinho? Both of those frauds have purchased most of their silverware, rather than developed the talent they had. The obvious exception is Mourinho's early success at Porto but he is a vastly different manager and person these days.

Genuinely very impressed by Ange so far

But it definitely feels like people have been going way overboard too soon

I've seen some very cult like behaviour that amuses me more than anything else
In our part definitely, but the little tykes up the road did say we’ve got our selves a good‘un though a lot on here were pretty negative about his appointment…….but let’s be honest after the last 3 managers Christ he couldn’t have been worse.

That Porto side was stacked, but yes they peaked earlier than expected.

The leader is good, the leader is great
We surrender our will as of this date...

Joooiiiinnnn us... joooooiiiinnnnnn ussss.......

There will be plenty of time for criticism, as we all know football is about moments.

I know some have joined our little community here who are only Ange fans, and that's ok. Happened with Mou and Conte.

Unlike some of the commentary here, i dont see the positive energy as " cult " like. It's just the fact that we as a collective have had to endure years of ineptitude, from team selections, to game plan, and adding salt to the wound, entitled managers who think they did Spurs a favour by taking on the job.

Seems to me some are waiting for failure to prove a point. What a sad way to live.

Right NOW ( and that's all we have ), he has given us entertaining footy, has united the fan base and has held himself in the public sphere with class. Time will tell if he stands the test of time.

If you only focus on the destination, you will miss out on the journey.

You're on the internet mate, I dint know what you actually expect especially when you display crackhead opinions 🤷‍♀️

If you want people to take you seriously just change your name to Dave or something
