Emerson started one match and was dropped, same for Skipp, who is miles off our starting midfield quality. Davinson Sanchez is literally transfer listed.
Skipp is currently our 5th midfielder, and started the first game along with Emerson.
Sanchez might be transfer listed, but he's nowhere near as important to get rid of as someone like Dier.

As I've said, the problem isn't playing Emerson or Skipp or Davies, the problem is playing ALL OF THEM together, because the side has 0 creativity.

Skipp and Davies are problems, all of our backups starting together is another problem, the whole is lesser than the sum of its parts kind of deal.

I did read the conversation and it is a nonsense.

Did laugh at your "naughty little man" comment though. That's a pisser. 😄 👍

You don't understand English, fair play. 😉

Every season supporting this club we should all expect to win a trophy or at least try to win one. The frustration comes from us pissing our chances up the wall because of shit selections every year and manager and players not taking cup comps seriously.

No offence but I do not give a crap about how much Ange was trying out players blah blah, you should know by now who you can trust and you didn't need to make 9 changes because it sends out the wrong message.

I've been absolutely consistent with this with all our managers, hated when Poch used to rest players, same for Jose, same for Conte, it's just utter BS

I still really like him as a manager though and I think we are onto something with him but let people fucking vent in a thread where he should be getting blamed and it's totally fair to point fingers at him.

I'm sure we will get over this pretty quickly especially if we win on Sunday but you can't blame people for being pissed off.

What weve learned from all of this tonight is that after 4 years, 5 different managers with 5 different philosophies and playing styles, having mediocre players creates mediocre football. Its almost like you need high level players to play high level football, regardless of manager or playing style.

Right, exactly.

You can carry a weak spot or two in possession, though ideally you wouldn't have to.

We had 5-6 out there who are not capable of not being weak links in possession, and got poor performances on the night from a couple more.
All the technical limitations aside, there seemed to be a serious lack of effort and urgency.

Nah you can totally blame him because he selected the team and didn't need to drop as many players that he did tonight, it's on him and I hope he owns it.

There's been a lot of deserved adulation for him but we need to call him out when he's fucked up and tonight he did with that piss poor selection.

3 main comments from Ange (paraphrasing):

1. That's the only way I can check these players out.
2. The players can't play 3 games a week so I had to rotate.
3. Life's too short for regrets, mate.

....Pretty flimsy stuff in all honesty.

Fuck knows what all the tactical changes and subs were about too!

Not fickle and not about to throw him on the bonfire, but he failed his first major test tonight...... All that honeymoon energy frittered away to save our first XI for Burnley. Damn shame. :(

As for the peripheral fan waffle:

1. He's sending Levy a message
2. Levy told him who to pick for shop window purposes.
3. He was told to throw the cups.

........Silly bollocks!

Hate to be that guy but as I said earlier, we were going to be torn a new asshole with the team we sent out. Sacrificial lambs....

The cup exit hurts, no doubt. Ange fucked up here.

The thing that scares me the most is the drop-off from our Starting XI is SO HUGE!! How have we still got all these players in our squad? ffs!

We should try to win a trophy, yes. And yes, I think Ange got his team all wrong last night.

But anybody expecting to win a trophy with the current state of our squad (and club) is delusional.

Oh I don't know if I'd go that far. I think we gave it a go. We certainly gave the ball away a lot and were forced to defend counters. It's not like we just sat on the ball.

We just had most of the team not capable of piecing a move together.

It goes to show that it's not just Ange's tactics per se. Our starting back 8 from the last two games has a very high quality level and no weak link in terms of the ability to play through opposing presses, really really high technical levels all of a sudden.

Not a coincidence, every single one of those 8 has been purchased since the squad's modern nadir of July 2021.

I question the mentality of any of our fans not going into the season expecting to win a trophy and we should not accept anything less as some sort of success.

This is where the Spursy mantra comes from, it doesn't come from the club, it comes from those same fans, bridesmaid mentality.

His first major test was United at home to be fair.

And I question the sanity of fans who expect it right now.

We started the season as the 8th best team in England.

I don't expect a trophy, I expect us to give it a real go. I expect us to not forfeit our chances of success.
If he put out a reasonable first XI with some rotation and we lost then that's just football, but to basically fight a losing battle out of the gate because of the lineup is inexcusable.

That's really what it comes down to.

Tonight it feels like (even if it wasn't the intention) we don't give a shit about the Carabao, yet as fans we're dying to be a 'Cup Team' again.

But if he does that then he’s less likely to have players traded and we go deeper in the season with the same appalling depth and get exposed by resurgent teams like Villa and West Ham and then Spurs fans lose their shit all season.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. You think us losing to Fulham will mean Levy will buy more players than he planned? As someone who has seen this team lose to some truly awful teams I can assure you that it isn't true.
