Crackers on Last Word on Spurs summed it up for me: "He seems to have all the answers going forward, but nothing at the back. We look ... very, very vulnerable".

I see no change from last season or this pre-season. I hear people blame the attackers for being wasteful - which is true - but you don't get to win the PL with a fragile defence.

This isn't me melting after one game or chanting for his head; I want him and the lads to succeed. But as entertaining as his style can be, Ange continues to worry me and I can't get away from that fact.

an internet tough guy lol. bless ya. now take your gimpy little interactions elsewhere you spanner.

Like I said, keyboard warrior. Wouldn't say it to his face.

We've conceded 124 goals in the past 2 seasons. Can't concede more than 50 again this season or we'll be starting over again.

It's hard to believe that we started wifh only one new player.

The midfield trio of yesterday and the fromt 3 are not taking us to anything better than top 6.

And sometimes even the players being good enough is not the answer.

Needs to be much better quickly.

The issues were plain to see last season. He has had the pre season and transfer window to both coach and bring in better players. The fact that we've entered the season and clearly still have absolutely no idea about how to break down teams in the final third is pathetic.

As for our defending. I don't even know what to say. We've got two top quality centre backs and two very capable players in Udogie and Porro. Yet defensively we look like a Year 9 C team with a Geography teacher as a coach.

Leicester are a very poor side by Premier League standards. If we can't break them down, we've got absolutely no chance.

Drastic improvements needed over the next few weeks otherwise he'll be gone long before Jesus' birthday.

Such a disappointment.

I don’t think he has all the answers going forward at all, we are so hesitant to shoot and are indecisive in the box.

Defensively I actually thought we were ok yesterday except for the goal. On set pieces we coped well and there was minimal danger from open play. But to have 70% of the ball and not really trouble their keeper was worrying, we’ve seen that too many times. We had a front line that cost £140m and we still relied on a defender to score.

The goal we conceded was a stupid mistake by Romero but when you look at the game overall, the two best chances fell to Vardy despite us dominating the ball. There’s no point having that much possession if it doesn’t translate to goals.

The defense is a clear worry. The goal conceded had multiple errors.

- Van Der Ven stood off his man and allowed him to switch the ball.
- Johnson lost aerial duel, and then gave up trying to win the ball back.
- Porrro didn't apply enough pressure and allowed the cross
- Romero ran out of position - (largely due to Johnson having given up and standing ball watching)
- Romero ran straight past Vardy in an open position and ignored his movement
- Sarr allowed his man to ghost in front of him as the cross came in, forcing Romero to step forward to cover
- Porro made zero effort to get back into the 5 yard box and cover Vardy - He could clearly see that Romero had left him fee. Instead, he jogged slowly back until it was too late.
- Johnson stood ball watching the whole time, trying to catch his breath

Poor decision making from Romero.
Lazy from Johnson and Porro.
Poor movement from Sarr.

I am sure Ange will give these guys a proper roasting.

Richard, I can't talk to you about Ange anymore, you're generally a decent poster but you have the absolute blinders on when it comes to him imo and the second someone questions him you start to devalue your points by saying shit like the bolded.

You keep making this point about "If we took our chances" but we didn't and you act like it's just a bad day at the office 'And on another day we would have had six' kind of logic at play here.

The problem is Richard, this isn't a new problem, it was an issue at the end of the last season and it's an issue now, it hasn't been fixed and that's partly down to a lack of quality in front of goal but it's also down to poor attacking play in general due to a flawed system.

It's gung-ho football that works sometimes but doesn't get you consistent results and often leaves you wide open at the back; which means we are going to concede a lot, which will negate any good we do going forward in the games we actually manage to make something work.

It doesn't exactly bode well does it?
I had the exact same discussions with Richard (who is generally decent) six months ago. I remember the ‘bad day at the office’ line wheeled out when we all know it’s a system issue.

Agree completely.

For all of our first half possession we didn't actually THREATEN that much - even when we had about 75% of the ball and were camped out in their area, I only remember their 'keeper making one decent save, then Porro scored. Though we had by far the majority of the play in the middle third, if you look at clear/good chances created there wasn't anything in it - on balance Leicester probably had the better chances in the second half.

We didn’t even have a shot on target second half. That happened a lot last season adwell.
Doesn’t sound like having all the attacking answers to me.,
Looks like we just keep the ball for the sake of it

I like Ange. Charismatic, affable, talks a good game. He's brought something different to the league.

I'm going to be bold here - he doesn't see out the season.

I don't see the systemic issues we all can see being fixed under him - one way of playing and his way is to just go in harder on that approach. And we know what happens when Levy gets upset with his managers...

He fires them via text message at halftime. Sort your shit out Ange, I can’t have another Ryan Mason stand in.

Problem is where do you go from here.

Elite manager: Jose/Conte - can’t use them as don’t support them well enough.

High press manager: same issue as Jose/Conte need specialist players which take either years to develop or lots of money.

Defensive manager: Nuno - fans hate it, anti-Spurs.

Jol/Redknapp pragmatist: that brand of football doesn’t really work anymore at least in terms of being successful. I suppose Eddie Howe is the closest but he is already with Newcastle.

Your pretty much left begging Pochettino to quit the USA and come back.

Yeah yeah

Actions please, not a load of bullshit and bluster.

True. But the trouble is, what if the players just can’t do it?

If Guardiola was our manager it wouldn’t suddenly make our attackers be able to shoot more effectively. A manager can only work with what he’s got.

I am not making an excuse for him, there’s lots we can do better but not being able to finish properly isn’t his fault. It’s why I laugh at those people who say “we are better without Kane” or “Kane can’t play in this team”. It’s bollocks. Any manager would love him because he scores bags full of goals, is a reliable finisher and wins you games and they set up their team accordingly.

If you had told me in June that we would start our first game with the same team but with the addition of a journeyman striker from Bournemouth then last night is exactly the kind of result I would have predicted.
