Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I defended Jose in here at times for the same reason.

If the players decide that they're gonna forget how to play football, then I won't blame the manager for that.

I see no sign that they're not playing for him but I will criticise him for not changing it sooner.

When we’re under the pump, I’d like to see us switch to a back 3 and flood the midfield.

If Ange holds that high line, he’s not going to last the season. Fair enough, if he has his principles. But they will cost him his job.
at 2-1 you get udogie off and beef the midfield to get momentum back. he did neither and let them take the piss and take all 3 points. like you said you also get rid of the highline once they have tails up and go for a more balanced approach...theres so many mistakes this guy makes in game its actually scary.

you might get away with it against no bodys from the pub leagues hes been in before, but this is the big time. got schooled by a 31 year old today with inferior resources.

Maybe Europa league? That low energy second half is a trademark of being in this comp

But we actually have a deep midfield and we could've brought that energy back by replacing all 3 even with sarr, biss, Lucas/gray
And Spence on for udogie

We should be mentally strong enough to see it out at 2 up with a half to go, not completely capitulate

we did exactly this under conte against Southampton, and of course he famously blew up after .

I just don't know were this mental weakness comes from , it's a totally new team but seems to be in the fabric of the club somehow.
Tottenham's history is this unfortunately :ange-bored:
I just don’t really care enough about football to really try and work out why this club always does this.

Nearly persuaded myself to book a ticket and spend some money on football, today just reminds me why I won’t.

Now we have dull as pisswater international break to deal with as well.

Might just sack football off for a while.

How tf do you become a head coach and see that happening and not realize you need to do something? It's really bizarre- like some kind of mental-block, thought-paralysis type shit.
There are things you can get away with in the J-league and Scottish PL that you're not going to get away with here.

Ange either refuses to accept this or doesn't really understand it.

What a fucking stupid thing to say. How is the manager absolved of all the blame? Maybe he should’ve reminded the players that no fucking club has won a game at half time? Maybe he could’ve subbed some players at the very least before we conceded our second, if he’s really not willing to change his system?

then if he makes the sub and the sub concedes the goal, the blame will be on him for making that sub

i think he changed his system at halftime or the players went away from it, spurs sat off and didn't press, they lost not playing the ange way

Over the years we’ve been constantly criticized as not having a “big club mentality”.

I actually think the problem is exactly the opposite, we have too much of a big club mentality without ever having done anything to prove it. Repeatedly we have the most complacent squad in the league.

How many times have we watched our players and manager half ass a Europa or Carabao tie against perceived vastly inferior competition.

Today is 100% complacency about being 2-0 up against “lowly” Brighton, they were presumably celebrating in the dressing room like it was game over and came out completely unprepared. Over the past 5 years, Brighton is far more a peer club than anything else. Doubt anyone in our dressing room has the self awareness to realize that though.

Being labeled a “big 6” side is the most destructive thing that has ever happened to this club. All entitlement, no results.

I just don’t care mate.

At least with Ange it’s fun when it does work. End of the day, we saw collapses like this under Conte, Jose, Poch whoever, it’s a feature of this club, not a bug in the system.

It’s like a scam that does just enough to keep you on the hook.

This club has a culture bigger than any manager.
Maybe.

But there is no manager alive or in future that will never have a half like our second half today.

This is the problem with the melting. They say they're striving for perfection but it'll never happen.

Get rid of Levy.
Get rid of managers.
Get rid of the scapegoat players.

Performances like this will always happen. The trick is to limit them to less often and after a run of 5 wins is not a strong foundation for that argument.

cmon man. His game management for this one was absolutely god awful (first sub on the 80th min?? what?).

Is he just going to continue letting aromero leave player unmarked on not give adragusin a chance?
Ange has a shocker with subs.

But I’ve seen that movie so many times before under so many different managers.

This is how this club keeps everyone hooked in without actually winning shit.

Going to a back 3 against a team with two wingers playing like they were would have been worse. They were in the ascendancy and would just push their wingers high and we’d resort to a back 5 so you wouldn’t get a grip of the game.
I think it was a personnel change rather than a formation change that was needed today but not at 80 minutes. As soon as their first one went in Spence and Moore should have came on to give us a boost and get us back on the front foot. You saw Udogie go into self destruct mode and Werner turns into a 7 year old. Our left side was fucked and for as much as I love Ange as our manager I blame him for that.

That performance deserves all the melting in the world.

It was shit. The players and the club should refund the away fans.

He needs to identify problems a lot quicker than he does and act upon it. Destiny was having a stinker from the get go of the 2nd half and after the balls up leading to their first goal he should have been hooked pretty quickly as it just got worse and worse for him. He didn't and that's down to him, same could be said of Romero who seems untouchable regarding being subbed. Again, that's down to him.
Werner ... what can we say about Werner? so down on confidence and nothing really going his way.

Major things concern me about Ange yet again highlighted.

1. Leaves it far too late to make subs
2. His in-game management is appalling. He just stands there gormless, looking clueless just hoping the tide will turn but does nothing to influence it. A top manager as soon as that second goal goes in is making changes.
3. His attitude of we just play one way - when it works, fantastic we look great. When it doesn't, we look atrocious. And unfortunately in the premier league, there are too many good sides who will expose Ange ball. Like Brighton did today. This way won't bring success. We will just be a midtable Bielsa like Leeds side.

Due to the above, Ange will never be a success here.

And people going on about 5 wins in a row. That isn't PL games.

Coventry, Carrier Bag and a Hungarian side are in that run. And on Thursday it was literally a roll of the dice we lose or draw that game even if the kids did well, and Coventry we were seconds from going out.

Scratch beneath the surface and it doesn't say much.
he was minutes away from losing his job against coventry. played a pile of shit after and everyone got hoodwinked.

2. a top manager changes after the first goal, wouldn't even let them get the second, never mind the fucking third.
