Even if 9 weren’t first teamers, the problem is that the likes of Porro, Udogie, Bissouma, Dragusin, Solanke aren’t getting the rest they need. It’s causes poor performance and injuries.

What is happening to us is exactly what happened to Newcastle last season. At this stage they were mid table with an injury crisis due to the champions league and cup football….

As for your last sentence Justin it is all perspective. You say dark cloud, a Soton or Derby fan might chuckle in derision at that statement. Last decade we've played in Europe all but 1 season, made a cup final and UCL final. Dark cloud to describe Tottenham to most fans in football would seem to be the whining of spoilt brats. We still have it better than 99% of clubs in Europe.

We're mid-table because we dropped 8 points against 3 teams in the relegation zone,and lost another 6 points from a position of 2 goal leads. Nothing to do with lack of depth or anything else. It was entirely avoidable.

Such a wasted opportunity, as top 4 would have been easily attainable with the way Woolwich and City are struggling this season, and the likes of Utd, Villa, Newcastle and Brighton are not exactly pulling up any trees themselves.

The use of the phrase 'dark cloud' was highly hyperbolic, all I was pointing out is that to fans of 99% of clubs us whining over 4th-7th place finishes and a UCL final in the last 10 years would come across as spoilt.

Of course we want our club to be better, what fan of any club doesn't. It's akin to anyone in a first world country such as USA, UK, AUS, GER etc etc crying about being poor. Even the worst off in those countries is still miles better off the most of the people on the earth. And we're better off even in a period of unrest than 99% of clubs in Europe. The Ange in crowd need to be quiet about injuries - pre Southampton we only had 3 first team players injured, Vic, Romero, VDV. Romero and VDV were rushed back by Ange.

Forster has arguably been our best player this last month, so Vic has not been a huge miss so far.

Aside from that we have had Bentancur banned.

We’ve been very disappointing over the course of the season and injuries are not the reason for that despite what some might say

The difference is simple, Villas line up in CL games is almost exactly the same as Prem games.

Our line up in the EL is heavily rotated to our Prem starting 11 - for a start we Moore, Lankshear, Bergvall, Dragusin and Davies - none of whom are genuine starting players in the league for us. I’m sure Odobert would have had more minutes also
