Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Speaking in his press conference after the game, Postecoglou said: “Yeah I could have [made subs]. But… all these things… are totally irrelevant to me. Substitutions and all those kind of things. If you’re not competitive, it doesn’t matter what you do, you’re not going to get rewards, you don’t deserve to win.

“We didn’t deserve on our second-half performance, irrespective of subs or anything else, to get something out of the game. But I think if you do get something out of the game, you’re falsely rewarded and I don’t want to get falsely rewarded.”

Whoa.
It's by far the single dumbest thing I've ever heard from an elite coach. It's the kind of empty headed reactionary thing an unintelligent person says when they have exhausted every last rational instinct they have. I loath Levy but I have to belive he is smarter than the handful of folk on here still making excuses. I think he's been making plans to replace him for a while. You cant have any pretence at being a serious pro team and have Postecoglou, Yedinak Wells Mason, its bonkers. Ange is not waving he is drowning it's actually cruel to leave him in post the hostility in the press conferences may as well be tears.

Our current form isn't sustainable with our players being out, it just isn't.

Mason ball isn't a guarantee of anything other than an early admittance of yet another failed project, Ange has been appalling and will most likely be gone at the end of the season should this form carry on but let's see where we are after the up and coming window, we need to give him a chance to turn things around and prolong his tenure until the Summer for our sake.
You are willing to "lets see", I'm not. I'd prefer if Terzic or Potter replaced Ange this week. But if the club decide to wait until summer, I believe we will be better off with mason as manager than if we keep Postecoglu. Mason, if he's not totally daft, should at least have picked up some notion of how to defend under Mourinho, Nuno and Conte. And should probably know a bit about how to play attacking football after working with Pochettino, Ange, and to a small part (transition) Mourinho and (patterns, counterattacks) Conte.

Terzic and Potter are mid choices, rather than rushing an appointment now we are far better off waiting until the Summer for the likes of Silva, Iarola, Frank or whoever may be more available, what scenario would you prefer?

You're not even getting new manager bounce because the players haven't even stopped playing for Ange, by all accounts their behind him so again that's another case of keeping this manager for the time being.

This Mason talk is absolute crazy and just tells you how broken this fanbase is, if you think the season is done now then hiring Mason just puts the final nail in the coffin, yeah I'm sure his 10 or so games of PL management he's gonna be able to turn our season around, laughable.

Gosh, this is a depressing thread; mind you most of the Spurs ones are, at the moment.
I don't know if getting rid of Ange will make it better or not, but the odd goal fest or scoring 3 if we let in 4 or 6 is just not good enough.
The last time the club felt this much of a mess was in the 90s. It’s insufferable at the minute.

And you’re right, irrespective of what people say, it isn’t good enough.

Just wait till the players comeback and if we don't go on a run then yes its not working and we replace him but at least wait this injury crisis out before you draw a conclusion.
You know we were losing games for fun with the first choice defence. Mate we are taking 1.39 per game. That's now over a near 38 game metric. We are incredibly consistent. The run he is capable of using all the data, inclusive of his vaunted first choice line up leaves us 11th. You are simply ignoring what's happening.

I can't take this argument seriously, a relegation fight...sorry you're just being ridiculous.

We keep going round in circles in this ridiculous argument...changing the manager now purely for Mason ball is just genuinely pointless and dumb, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever - no-one is yet to convince me that's it a good move and 'surely he has to be better than Ange' isn't an argument.

And sorry to say blowing things up mid season and getting in Terzic or Potter now isn't worth it when there's a host of better potential options in the Summer, just chill.
After Leicester collapse, when they got relegated after finishing 5th, 5th and 8th in previous seasons - relegation fighting scenario is not that unlikely for me.

We won 5 on the spin before throwing away the 2 goal lead against Brighton away. Thats when we had nearly a full squad available. Injuries have killed us and its been impossible to get any momentum going without all 3 of Vicario, Romero and VDV since the 4-0 City win
League games. Let's be explicit league games. Above the maths for league games paint the true picture. Not skewed by Coventry Carrier bag and such like.

No we didn't. Most of those games were against shite like Coventry and Carrierbag in the cups.

Since the first 10 games of last season, this idiot useless twat of a coach has managed 3 league wins in a row ONCE.
This season he managed 2 in row ONCE.

LEAGUE GAMES.

Not cup games against lower league fodder.

You're either a troll or an idiot. Which ever one you are you're fucking good at it.

In the league.

Who did we beat in those five combined games?

He’s not really strung more than two wins together in the league since that early run ended. And he’s had his full, first choice 11 available at many times too since then.

The idea of waiting until the summer assumes we have the luxury of time, but the truth is, this season could spiral further into irrelevance if we stick with a failing system. We could, quite literally, be throwing away the chance of winning a cup.

The notion that the players are ‘behind Ange’ sounds nice, but backing a manager emotionally doesn’t always translate into results on the pitch. If anything, it makes our current form even more damning. If they are playing for him and we’re still this bad, that’s a bigger indictment of his methods than if they’d given up entirely.

As for Mason, I don’t think anyone is genuinely suggesting him as a long-term solution; the point of bringing him in temporarily would be to simply remove the manager before any more long term damage can be done but the replacement should ideally already be lined up.

Leaving Ange in charge when the metrics and performances clearly show regression isn’t patience; it’s negligence.

Just to refresh people's memories

Coventry (league cup)
Brentford
Carrierbag (ropey league)
Man United
Ropey league game against unspellable team

We won 2 league games from 5 fixtures.
Brentford who have been 2024's worst away team in the PL.
Man United who are horrendous, playing to get their coach the sack AND had 10 men for 50 minutes.

And still these fucking muppets think things will get better.

WE DON'T BEAT GOOD TEAMS
