Cults? Honestly guys , look no further than this thread. A wonderfully fascinating and often hilarious case study into the pitfalls of group think. Where one fella will declare that Postecoglou is the worst manager in the history of the Premier League (because he heard it on TalkSPORT!) and the rest of the flock will repeat it ad nauseam.

That said, don’t make the mistake of thinking that these are widespread views. The majority of the fanbase are behind the manager and team, and it’s exceedingly clear that the players are still with the manager. No, this is very much the lunatic fringe, as evidenced by some of the batshit crazy hysterical opinions bandied about on here.

Like Howe during Newcastle’s similarly injury ravaged period last season, Postecoglou is struggling for results now and, again like Howe and Newcastle, things will improve significantly when players return. Sensible, non-drug addled minds understand this.

So relax. 100% safe means there’s time yet to break this cycle of negativity and nonsense and leave this poisonous cult behind. Come back from the brink!

This- is delusional.

We're 12 points off CL places right now with only 18 games left. Ange would need a miraculous run to match his record last year, much less improve on it.

The cult like behavior is obvious- but it's actually your claque that is guilty of it.

Come back to the side of sanity and admit throwing the league to chase cups in an escapist bid to salvage something from this season is an implicit admission of failure. The table doesn't lie, bub.

Supporting the team means to support them during the 90 minutes, Which i do, have done and always will do. As does nearly everyone.
Well see I look at supporting Spurs as a 24/7 , and by that I mean it's just there , it's your DNA . I've been doing it for over 50 years , I don't have to think about it , it just is .
I disagree, that supporting your team means to automatically adopt the repose within the week of "isn't everything going marvellously? and arent we on the right path?" When the last 9 months would indicate that it isn't and we aren't.
Got no idea where you pulled those quotes from , not me . My point is continually coming on the forum about how pissed you are about all the perceived wrongs within our team and club achieves nothing in the way of change . Everyone is entitled to their opinion but continually bashing out the same stuff day after day , as many do , it isn't good for a persons mental health . As I said I know , I done it for many years , but stopped about 12 years ago when I realized how much I was being affected by every result and every Club decisions . Things still annoy me so when I can't really affect a change I tell myself , Spurs is my club and I will support my club , I will support whoever my manager and players are , because they play for MY club .
Am I happy with things currently , NO , but I still support my club .
I spend about 10-15 minutes of my day on here. I'm really not in this angry vortex that you think I am. But thanks for checking in.
Your welcome , just sharing my experience . You may not be angry but continuous posts about how it upsets you comes across as that . But by all means express yourself however you want .

Tottenham could be close to sacking Ange Postecoglou and returning to Ryan Mason as interim manager, according to iNews.

Katherine Lucas reacted to Spurs’ defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday (4 January) and projected Daniel Levy may look to sack Postecoglou if the poor results continue, despite the Australian contending with a mass injury crisis.

Who exactly is the mass injury crisis again? VdV and Romero? and Udogie. And Ben? Vicario, obviously...

As far as I can tell we still have all our attackers save Odobert and Richarlison- Richarlison who barely contributed to last seasons 5th place finish. We're not missing any amazing CMs as far as I can tell either.

Gray and Dragusin have done far better than we expected. More than fine actually. Same for Forster on the whole. I guess it's technically a "crisis" but it's not like the replacements are of such lower quality that it has been clearly losing us games, has it?

I mean, that's bad luck, but it's not Force Majeure type shit.

I guess I just don't agree that Ange is enduring a hopeless injury crisis right now. If anything through necessity we've discovered that Spence, Gray and Dragusin are all pretty darn good defenders.

If you say our defenders aren't good enough to help us attack successfully that's where I start to call BS and say that's not sound football if you're counting on your defenders to create goals and offensive play for you.

It's so bizarre how poor Ange can be in terms of points and how far people will go to rationalize why everything is just temporarily bad and set to get better any day now- in some pretend fantasy world where the return of VdV and Romero and Vicario will somehow lead to us scoring more than 1 goal a game again. I really do marvel at how far folks will allow themselves to be deluded.

Long time follower since Postecoglou appointment and first time poster.

I am an Aussie passionate about football and have seen Ange come up the ranks as I once played at the local club he grew up playing and coaching.

I don't consider the celtic 'rebuild' and dominance his greatest achievement. This guy has the ability to go with youth and turn them into a force of reckoning.

In Australia we have salary capped competition thats designed to be even yet he turned an average team into such a dominant force it was beyond ridiculous.

He then took on the National job and said bye bye to our ageing senior players and stuck with youth in the world cup. We lost all three games but we walked away proud seeing our youth take on world class teams and showing they have what it takes to be in the competition. He then led that team to an Asia Cup years later

This guy is special and picks clubs who lack identify and sets them up for long term success. Don't be fixated on the results YET but continue to look at his philosophy which is to attack and score goals. He will happily concede 3 as long as he scores 4. He sets out to win no matter the opposition.

It hasnt the greatest of seasons and there is work to do but he thrives on this. He's creating a culture that doesn't make excuses for injuries/youth/lack of transfers etc.

I personally credit his stubburness because if he wants to change the mindset of the team he needs to be. This is a journey that he sets the challenge for the players. If he changes his playing philosophy then I'd be more worried because hes going for short term gain over long term success.

A few adjustments to the squad and some returns from injuries and I think we'll have a dominate force again.

At the very least, try show support until the very end so the next manager knows he will have the backing and not be sacked when things get tough like the predecessors.

Listening to Talksport phone ins makes me think that the average spurs season ticket holder nowdays is a wet mummies boy. So many saying they like what levy has done with the club and Ange is doing ok and needs more time.

Is this the effect of charging £109 for a ticket?

One of the usual Spurs feeds posted today a quote from a David Ornstein claiming Ange’s job is “100% safe”.

Don’t know what tier he is, but I don’t have the stomach for another 12-18 months of this. Someone anesthetize me until Mason In

This thread is hilarious.

Levy will sack him. But the timing will be based on when it becomes a popular decision with the majority of the fan base.

A fan base that seems to be 50/50 at the moment so still too much support for Ange for Levy to pull the trigger

I genuinely think there are fans that simply won't turn on him.
In that regard, he's the best hire Levy has ever made.
Probably paid a fraction of what Poch, Mourinho and Conte were on. Stays on his box. Doesn't ask for expensive toys. And seemingly protected by a loving fanbase and the media.

61k people turned up on Saturday. Yet we all know there were thousands of tickets on Friday. They didn't get bought, they were season tickets that didn't get sold so we had to go.

We've lost 10 games because our coach is repeatedly sending players out and asking them sprint half the length of the pitch over and over over.
The stats back this up, but you can also see it as clear as day the stands. All over the pitch, from front to back, players are sprinting around trying to "press" whichever opposition player has the ball.
When we play against a side with half intelligent players, they pass to an un-marked team mate, fairly often, and our players are chasing the ball around like 11 year olds on the back field.

Someone on the radio, a presenter, not a fan, actually tried to blame VAR for our problems on Saturday morning.
"Is it because the linesmen don't raise their flag and wait for VAR to check that's causing Tottenhams injuries".

No it's fucking not, because the linesmen do that in every game in football where there is VAR.
It's because we plonk our 2 CBs in the opposition half and expect them to have a 50m race multiple times a game.
