I wouldn't say we are terrible at attacking teams that sit back I would say we just don't. I watched Kulu yesterday on an attack instead of taking the risky pass or a cross on the edge of Hoffenheim area pass it to Dragusin who then went back to Austin. The fact is we do not take risks and just recycle the ball too often to keep possession.
Losing games ruins football clubs.
Conceding goals is hurting Spurs.
Spurs need 4 goals every game to win under Ange.
It's not sustainable beyond the end of the season.
We are now flirting with relegation to chase what many once regarded as Mickey Mouse trophies.
There's an inevitability about how this season is going to unfold.
Spurs under Ange are inconsistent within games and game to game.
That is not a culture of winning.
Belief in it looks increasingly futile.
Disinterested could explain some of the recent performances.
I don't buy the 'tired' theory.
Every club playing in Europe faces the same challenges as Spurs.
Right now we are in a tough patch. There is a character and togetherness being built by that.
When we are putting together wins again that character and togetherness will be MASSSIVE for the culture of this team.
The recent run has cost us the league already but we still have 3 other competitions to try and win.
Any striker's ceiling is that one match in his career where he scored a hattrick. Any keeper's ceiling is the one where he saved not one but two penalties. There's no substance to this kind of an argument, it's purely based on semantics. No sane person evaluates players in this manner, why should it be any different for managers?
The idea that better attackers would allow us to put matches to bed by giving us 3-4 goal leads before HTs comes up often, but I don't see why this should be a prerequisite for winning consistently. Major comebacks are extremely rare in football, simply due to the fact that scoring a goal is way more difficult than preventing one. That's why in most cases a "mere" two goal lead is entirely safe. Not when you don't know how to take the sting out of the match by sitting back and absorbing the pressure without crumbling though.
At a certain point, trying to score even more at the expense of taking risks at the back becomes counterproductive. High risk, low reward. It's the total opposite for the team doing the chasing. Nothing to lose, everything to gain. To the extent that Ange refuses to acknowledge these simple shifts in risk-reward ratios based on the circumstances of a given match, he'll never amount to much at this level. No matter how high his "ceiling" as a manager is.

I admire your continuing belief in that theory.
I really do.
What I see is a team that give away too many easy chances and concede poor goals, to average opposition.
It just seems obvious to me that once this Spurs team are faced with better quality opposition, regardless of whether we have players back from injury, that away from home we will still probably lose most games and at home we may win enough to stay up.
Is that what we want going forward and was that the expectancy at the start of this season?
Losing these games, and conceding shit goals, in the manner Spurs have been, is just serving the interests of the ownership.
It's lowering your expectation level to just being glad to have avoided relegation by the end of the season.
That's where we are.
Supporters of many other clubs would not accept this in the manner we at Spurs are at the moment.
The reduction of investment in quality players on higher wages is the reason Spurs are in this mess.

I would argue that quite often we don't even take those risks to try and score. In too many situations where there is a shooting chance (Bar Porro) or a chance to play a difficult pass into the box I see us decide to protect the ball and recycle it back to the keeper.
Are they supposed to stay the night in Germany ?
Did they go right to the training ground and run wind sprints ?
Just as well there are hotel type rooms at Hotspur Way.
They can lie in till 10am, tumble out of bed for their Sugar Frosties (ooh, naughty!) and be on the training ground by 11.am.
Completely slipped my mind about the hotel rooms at The Lodge.
Hard life for these pampered players. They're given no excuse not to perform, yet seem to be given them.
