Outlier if you isolate it from the league. If you combine it with the league, it’s never a fluke.

We absolutely suck in the league?

The only way I think he survives is by either winning one of the two big job saving cups (FA + EL) or by a league cup + general upturn in form which gives the board hope we have recovered and will improve.

I don’t think a league cup alone saves anyone, if we win that then continue to be rubbish the rest of the season this board will pull the trigger very quickly.

I don’t think LC and bottom half saves him and I also don’t think it should.

I don’t think FA Cup and bottom half would be any different.

EL probably would be and I think it should be.

Cup double definitely would even if we finish 15th.

Which games should he have picked Spence?

When he came back from injury there were 2 games I think he could’ve picked him, Fulham and I can’t remember the other one. Before that Gray was ahead of Spence in the rotation.

The revisionism on Spence is mental.

As for Reguillon, most fans had no idea why he was still here. If he plays now it’s because Ange didn’t send him to the u21’s like most other managers would. Remember when he played against Yamal vs Barca in pre season and faked an injury because he got cooked so badly?
The fact Ange is having to play Reggie just shows how Levy has let the squad rot , I’d also like to give Ange credit for Spence , he seemed like he was on a trajectory of not making it at any top club , failed under numerous managers yet Ange has managed to make him a starter here.
Sure maybe he could have played him earlier but we don’t know what goes on behind closed doors , but whatever he has done with Spence it’s worked

Exactly.

I’d say most of the credit goes to Spence himself. It’s only him that can train and play but denying Ange any credit when so many other coaches didn’t get a tune out of Spence is just agenda driven bollox.

I think you’re spot on with that. To be honest we could win three cups and some would still want him out. I’m hating it just now but if Ange delivered those he’d be legend status. We all know we would not be 15th in the league if we never had the massive injury list.

Flip side is lose today and against Brentford then he won’t even get a go at the semi and Villa.

I do believe in how Ange wants to play in some aspects but he needs to change some of it or it only ends one way. Inverted full backs and suicide playing out every time has to stop. Look at city yesterday in how they win a game by going long. The high line is ok for me if you have quick defenders and pressure on the ball but we still stay high when there isn’t any pressure on the ball which is utterly clueless and suicidal at this level. Chelsea done it last night and were lucky not to lose by a lot more.

Fine lines in football and the next two weeks from now are massive for this club for everyone.

Changes with the agendas. For years on here, all I’ve seen is “I don’t care about the league, I just want to win a cup”. Now? “15th in the league!! Who cares about winning a cup?”.
I think it’s relative.

I think Ange has to go, but if he finishes 10th/11th and we win the Europa League it would be incredibly harsh to bin him - it would be the biggest success the club has seen in 41 years.

Win a league cup and finish 15th and although the drought is over, it’s a fucking shocking season.

Agree with most of that except the inverted FBs. Our build up looks so much worse without it. Maybe invert only 1 at times.

The high line I agree but that’s recruitment. It’s shambolic that we went into the season unable to play a high line if we lost our LCB. We should be like Liverpool and City who can maintain their football philosophy regardless of injuries.

It’s funny how football changed. Venables finished 11th and won the FA Cup and was declared a hero and one of our greatest managers.

Very true and also shows how little league finishes really matter if you don’t win the league.

Winning will always be remembered. 3-8th, even 10th or 11th nobody will care in 2 years time.

What if we win the league cup, go well in Europa League, losing a tight semi to Lazio say, and get some of the inured players back and rally in the league and finish, say, 9th?

Would he deserve to stay?

^^^ Bollocks, the question was rude. One of the things I do like about Ange is he doesn’t buy into these “bait” questions from journos and just doesn’t buy into their narrative full stop.

And “a reporter is not there to be spoken to like that”, well guess what, neither is a manager.

reggie Cant pick himself to play, Only one person that picks the team (the manager) he could have used both spence & Reggie earlier in season but he didn't thats on him
I'm not saying Reggie is the best LB out there but using him a few times MAY have stopped Udogie from being injuried THAT is down to this manager can't you see that

Do you rate Reguillon?

Postecoglou clearly doesn’t rate him. If he did he would have played him. And if he is any good why does no other team want him?

Really don’t know why he got named in the squad tbh. Waste of everyone’s time.
But you are right about one thing. Once he’s named in the squad it’s then on Postecoglou to use him.
He’s not a yes man allegedly. So must take his proportion of the blame.

But if you think Ange actually wanted him in the squad then our opinions differ massively.

Lol exactly. I literally posted the line ups for our first 3 cup games.... all only started with 1 first team defender in the lineup, different one in each.

In the modern information age every single piece of data is available to folks I am amazed that people still.sprout made up stuff that is so easily proven incorrect.

No wonder the tech bros are ruling the world

The question essentially started, “So Ange, the team is shit…”.

Is he supposed to agree to that premise?
No.

Familiar story - The team lost again, bad run of form, the truth hurts and Ange bit because his (IMO overinflated) ego is wounded.

He's been like this with multiple reporters right from the start, not to mention the way he behaves with some of fans who are paying a fucking fortune to watch bottom of the table football.

The mask slipped quite quickly for me, he's a prick. When his methods are brought into question, the toys fly out of the pram.
