We're not talking about splitting hairs here. Like I said, I really liked Lennon - but he's fondly remembered by supporters because we had low expectations at the time and he met or exceeded them.
Johnson is not fondly thought of by supporters because we have much higher expectations and he's just meeting or failing them generally.
Yes, there's other ways to be an effective footballer, but by the end of this season Johnson will have contributed more league goals and assists in 2 seasons at Spurs than Lennon's 3 best seasons combined. The other stuff isn't so important for an attacking player that the above reality is overcome. Spurs pay/paid both of them predominately to score and assist goals.
I've always said that, this century, the best and most enjoyable time to be a Spurs supporters was under Redknapp. But that doesn't mean the players were better then, or even that the football was better then. A lot of it had to do with the fact that we just enjoyed the football and didn't moan constantly about not winning trophies or competing at the top of the table. Supporters, themselves, bear some blame for robbing ourselves of our own enjoyment.
Lennon was good for us !
