Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The same Fab that convinced Levy to hire Nuno? Forgive me for not breaking out the bunting.

Paratici can identify a player, roughly half the time. But a good judge of managers he is not.

As for the rumours, apparently he wants Inzaghi. Why Inzaghi would give up Inter to come and manage this shitshow I don't know.

I also don't just see why we don't go for the likes of Iraola or McKenna. Proven Prem managers who know the league and would champ at the bit to be given a chance at a club of our stature. Trust Levy to be given a complete fucking open goal this summer and miss.

Inzaghi is obviously a talented manager but he gives me serious Conte vibes. In style, tactics, demeanour, everything. Big risk.

Agreed, Contie is really struggling since he left us.

Are you making an argument for Ange to go? Inability to react as a coach is clearly the answer here, he's had plenty of time to adjust, and hasn't. His results have been in freefall and getting worse every week.

Take a look at BJKs analysis above. They are following the ball around the pitch. Ange is coaching them to do that.

Adjust how? And when?

The last time Spurs had 5 days break between games was in November.

We are playing with a different starting 11 every single week, without little in-between to train. Tel and Danso played 2 games having not had a single training session with the squad.

Son, Kulu and Porro have been the only players consistently available. No other team in history had had this level of players unavailable.

We've prepared, set up and trained a system of play. To completely adjust that mid season, within just 2 or 3 days, with a random group of players depending on who is fit is pure fantasy.

Assuming you think this is a clever response, I never said Conte was a bad manager. In fact, he's one of the best of the modern era. But he was a terrible fit for Spurs and hence why he only lasted here 14 months. I worry Inzaghi would be similar - not necessarily in temperament, but in a defensive style that seems to suit Italian football more than the top level of the Prem.

Inzaghi would be better I think - slightly more flexible, significantly less mad. Conte's style worked for a reasonable period of time here, I just think his ultra disciplined methods and being slightly insane gives him a shelf life at clubs. That shelf life was shorter at Spurs because ... well, Spurs.

Ain’t doing to shabby with Villa is he ….. maybe here it’s not the managers that are to blame ?
Well it's Forest for one. Villa have Emery.

And I never said Nuno was a bad manager. But if you'd watched any Forest games you'd know he's implementing a pretty rudimentary low-block-and-counter system of football he wouldn't get away with at Spurs.

This idea that just because he has Forest in the top 6 (while massively overachieving their stats btw) he shouldn't have been sacked by Spurs is laughable.

Interesting. I won't lie, I've watched relatively little of Inzaghi, only seen the odd CL game. That final against City they were decent and probably deserved the win, but they literally parked the double decker 3-5-2 in front of their box. I'd hope for a guy that might be a little more expansive. Maybe though it's presumptive to assume because of that he'd be like Conte in style. Have you watched them much, and in what ways do they differ?

In any case I don't see why we wouldn't push the boat out for an Iraola. He's right there.

Sad that Nuno “wouldn’t get away with” being 3rd in the league at Spurs, isn’t it?

So happy we get to watch the joyous football Angie and his scapegoats are treating us to every week instead

He wouldn't get away with it because we wouldn't cough up possession to everyone like Forest do. When you're Spurs playing at home in front of 60k with the likes of Maddison and Romero in your team you can't just put everyone behind the ball against teams like Leicester and Wolves and try and hit them on the break. Hence why when he was here and we actually needed to do something with the ball we looked pure dogshit.

The choice isn't Ange or Nuno ffs.

The only thing to add is that Spurs have played 9 more games than Brighton this season.

Personally I’d take being third over being fourteenth no matter what brand of football is being played.

Independent's version:

Tottenham

Overall, it does appear that Spurs have had the worst injury problems in the league this season.

In addition to currently having 11 players out, the length of the different layoffs – and the importance of the various players – mean that Postecoglou probably does deserve some slack.

The starting centre-back pairing of Romero and van de Ven have been out since October, with the Argentine having foot and ankle problems and the Dutchman suffering hamstring issues. Both were rushed back for the December match against Chelsea, but neither finished the game and they’ve been suffering issues ever since.

Vicario has been out since the end of November, while another starting defender, Destiny Udogie, has been out since the end of 2024, and they are now lacking cover at centre-back after the injury to Dragusin.

In midfield, Rodrigo Bentancur missed two league matches through concussion, while Pape Sarr missed two matches this year with a knock and James Maddison has been out since the end of January.

Brennan Johnson has been out since mid-January with a calf strain, with Dominic Solanke suffering a knee injury around the same time.

Wilson Odobert has been out since September, while Richarlison has missed a total of 15 games in the league and was then forced off against Brentford last week. Finally, Werner has been out since the beginning of 2025.

I had forgotten, until reading this, that awful game against Man City that ended 0-3 with not a single shot on target. That was awful.
