I'd honestly be happy with a team that had a more sustainable defensive structure, could hold onto the ball, and didn't leave such absurd amounts of space all over the pitch. The players can't be feeling very confident having to play this rubbish football every week and coughing up possession trying to progress the ball.

IMO there's some fairly obvious tactical tweaks that would shore us up and lead to more shot-creating actions, and which I have absolutely no faith in Ange employing:
  • Have our fullbacks provide the touchline width and bring our "wingers" narrower as wide forwards, which would better suit our squad. BJ, Maddison and Sonny (Moore, Tel) would make runs into the box and support Big Dom.
  • Have a defensive midfielder (e.g. Gray) drop back into a three when necessary as we're advancing the ball.
  • Play Maddison further up the pitch and have Bergvall + Bentancur/Sarr as our roaming 8s behind the front 4.
We may not score as many goals, but we'd be a lot less erratic and actually CONTROL games a bit better.

Never before in my time of following football closely (which granted, is not too long; since 2009) I've never seen more obvious situation where there is more tactical ability in random internet forum that there is in head of Tottenham head coach.

And this is absolutely shocking. He is so absurdly incompetent tactically. Absolutely unqualified for the position.

The way he just panics in every possible way...
HOW THE FUCK do you even come up with idea to start midfield three of Bissouma, Bentancur and Sarr?!?!?!
THREE workhorses, no real creative outlet. While frontline is Odobert-Solanke-Johnson.

WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO DO THE CREATIVE WORK HERE? WHO ??!??!??!?
Just gross fucking incompetence. Cause on top of not creating anything upfront, we were total mess defensively as well.

Was chatting to a mate at work who is a Glaswegian Rangers fan but also follows Spurs because of his Enfield born Dad. This guy knows his footie and is an encyclopaedia of the sport.

He basically told me as he has done numerous times the last 18 months he worried about Anges tactics or lack of them translating at Spurs when he joined and thought there was no way it would work in this division. He openly talks about how shit the SPL is and says himself any cunt can win a title with Celtic or Rangers.

He expected him to adapt but agrees he hasn't and cannot believe we are still playing with the same naivety. He pointed to the European games for Celtic like many of us have here of examples why his football won't work against better sides - attack in huge numbers constantly no matter what the game state, leave yourself open and concede tons of chances and goals especially from the wings etc.
He also said to expect a spate of injuries at the start because trying to play like this in the hardest physical league in the world will just not work.

Guys been watching Ange for 2 years longer every week than most people I know and said all of this would happen basically.
He hated him being a Rangers fan, he DESPISES him now after his time at Spurs.

I have absolutely had enough now - roll on the managerial merry go round of the summer.

I’d love to have a chat with every Celtic fan, I've struck up a conversation with, who told me Ange was the best thing to ever happen to the club and guaranteed success—only for him to go down as one of the worst managers in PL history.

It would seem that success in Scotland doesn’t always translate (who knew right?), and honestly, i'd say its a bit embarrassing for Celtic or Scottish football that he’s struggled this much after the plaudits they gave him for his time in scotland.

My best mate is a celtic fan, at the start he was raging when I'd slag off Ange lol said it was like your best mate stealing the love of your life only to tell you how shite in bed she is.
I had no idea who Ange was before he was appointed. Coincidentally, I met a couple of Celtic supporters on holiday in Canada just after the announcement, and the way they gushed over him made me feel quite optimistic about the future. I was happy with his pressers, thought he was a character and liked his sense of humour. I even got carried away after the start we had, and excused the rest of the season on injuries and the players/coaches getting used to the system. The only thing I thought as odd at the start, was that he didn't even bring a trusted assistant with him.
This season has on the whole, been horrendous, apart from the odd good performance. He said he would take the responsibility for performances - not been much of that recently.
Looks like we're stuck with him for the rest of the season, God help us!

He has never not had the fans with him at other clubs because he has done well there . Turns out Claudia Winkleman could win the treble managing Celtic. Slagging us off for his appalling team performance is the sign of both arrogance and failing to understand his own contribution to the atmosphere.

He obviously has disdain for us. Pretty sure he doesn’t like us after failing to grasp the fact many of us didn’t want the scum to win the league last season so we’re willing to forego one game.

Absolutely baffled why he hasn't been sacked. Maybe he made a deal with levy that he would resign when he's out of all of the competitions. So levy would save on the payoff if he don't issue the sack now.

Remember also that Gerrard won the title with Rangers before nearly getting Villa relegated - Emery took over that squad and has them in the CL. Scottish football is bloody awful - even we got a point at Rangers under Flange
Easy to forget Rodgers, who overall is a decent manager, last act in the prem was taking Leicester down. Would anyone want Neil Lennon as manager who tore it up at Celtic? It was an insane appointment. I thought at the time it was batshit but was leftfield and might work. Turns out it was just batshit.

bloody hell just seen MoTD 2

it was even worse than I thought. 2 horrendous defensive howlers in the first 2-3 mins. One after 20 seconds. Both were free shots from 10 yds and at least one shouldve been taken. That goal of the season that was chalked off - very lucky. Yes it was offside but they gained no advatnge from the guys position and hed actaully walked back into an onside position by the time he played the ball.

That goal from Sarr was a massive fluke from a cross that went nowhere near he planned. Nailed on pen but what a brain fart from the keeper. Lovely shot from Bergvall about our best moment but by that stage we were 2-0 down by then and it couldve ben by more. Sarrs goal was immediately followed by another break where they hit the post and the rebound couldve gone to an unmarked striker 10 yds out with an empty goal to aim at.

We mustbe the luckiest team in the PL right now. Couldve been 3-0 down to AFCB no complaints; couldve been 3-0 at ITFC in the first 10 mins. Villa battered us but only 2-1 with our goal in the last mins. AZ shouldve scored way more than the one. Jammy win at Brentiofrd.

So far it's only LFC who have embarrassed us via scoreline but several have on chances and balance of play

awful awful awful

agree that SPL is a poor place to pick managers but rodgers had proved himself with Swansea and initally did very well at LFC. Bit unfair to say he took LCFC down, they had all their best players sold and not replaced. Didnt he win the FA cup with them?

I think properly managed and supported he can be a really good coach. If thats what he was with us I'd be very OK with that

What’s that saying about better being lucky than good? Lucky wins you cups. That’s for sure.

Maybe that’s Ange’s secret. He’s got a 4 leaf clover or a something in his wallet.

Let hope we can cop it sweet!! Mate!

Yea, well draw with Bournemouth this season wouldn't be a shocking result on its own.

But let's be perfectly clear and honest - our performance was pathetic and we really got very lucky in this one.

It was a home game... and we created xG of 1,53.
Out of which the penalty was counted as 0,788. So with reminder of a game we created whopping 0,74 goals (!!) at home (!!) while being down most of the game (!). That is total shit, no other word for that.
On the other hand, Bournemouth had xG of 2,2. And this leaves out a offside goal (counted as 0) that was just about sloppy timing by them...

We do not have logical movements in attacking side and we are absolutely and absurdly exposed on the defensive side.
Literally we've got NOTHING going for us at the moment.

"It is abundantly clear we win nothing with this clown, took me a whole to get there"

Just to be clear, despite the evidence in front of your own eyes, you spent almost 2 years convincing yourself that the bullshit you could clearly see that was not working could magically work...???

Where you just hoping it would work out or what ?
I mean, nobody else in all 4 leagues even dare play like this...
5 home wins this season.
5!
What exactly was it that you saw that had you believing so religiously?!?!
I wasn’t believing religiously , I was however willing to give him a chance and made excuses which with hindsight was wrong . I also had a period of what’s the point in sacking him nothing changes , this was also wrong

...We're nothing more than a fucking circus on the pitch looking at ways to continually raise more revenues off it
You're not wrong mate.
The queues at the Spurs Shop yesterday were unreal. All those parents buying overpriced tat for their kids. And when you get to the checkout they force you to have a carrier bag and they charge you 20p for the privilege! The girl at the checkout confirmed my suspicion when she said this is the most penny-pinching club in the world.

In case anyone is wondering, I was cashing in my daughter's £15 voucher before it expires. Levy's not getting that too.

Theres an Ange Thread on a Celtic forum and they are all rooting for him. Probably because his failure here reflects poorly on them.

Least we forget that Neil Lennon also won a few trebles at Celtic. :ange-lips:
He won't get a job in England after he is sacked. I can't see any Championship team taking him on; it is too risky.

His system requires a poor quality of opposition. I wish the Ange simps would realise his system really isn't anything special. Take Celtic, their revenue and budget are more than the the rest of the league combined. If they don't win by a massive margin, it is a failure. Getting more players in midfield (to the detriment of the defence) makes sense in such an environment. There is little risk the opposition will punish you and if they do you should have scored a few. It isn't complicated stuff; if anything, it is a bit too simplistic.

I don't know if people will remember but Celtic came up against Real Madrid at Home under Ange. Their fans were crowing about being the better team for 30 minutes. They lost 5-1 in the end. That says it all to me.

Watching Spurs play football these days is nothing more than an exercise in sadomasochism . I know it is going to hurt , I know I shouldn’t do it , hell I even know my family will be disgusted , ( they are gooners) . However I still watch every match biting down on my imaginary pillow as we proceed to get destroyed by almost everyone we play .
Sack him , let me get back to a healthy relationship with my club

I think the whole system is massively over reliant on Solanke and VdV. And for the most part they're not enough. If a system requires 1970 Brazil to show it in all its glory, its probably not the most advised system.

In the end you're limited to how many extra special players that are available. The margins, edges, and percentages are very fine at the top. Ange theory gives way too many of those away much to cheaply.

He is selling something under valued (defence) in an attempt to gain something over valued (attack). It doesn't work in life and it will not work in sport.

Spurs are a big club with big name players. The problem is that in the PL a lot of clubs have that. Thinking all would be over whelmed and crumble took a bit of magical thinking at the start to become a form of insanity week after week.
Celtic was perfect for him in that regard. They are so dominant domestically that it didn't matter if he got completely exposed out in Europe. He could always point to the domestic silverware that came in like clockwork.

Had he stayed there it probably would have taken 2-3 more years before the fans truly got disgruntled about lack of progress in Europe.

Then back strolls Rodgers and has them make the knock outs on the second go around.
