Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lost a lot of games. That’s really it. People will act like it’s something else. His comments, stubborness, etc but none of that would matter if he wasn’t losing so much. Not sure how you can have a good press conference or relationship with the fans while losing so much. The problem is most managers have been fired 3 months ago so we’ve just had to hear it all over and over again.

That said, it’s silly and shows what kind of “fans” are on the internet.
When I see comments about his press conferences and after match interviews, I wonder if I’ve seen the same thing.

Yesterday’s bullshit about doing better in the league if we weren’t in the cups was just that, bullshit. But what else could he say? Being a bit of a bullshitter, like every other manager, doesn’t lead to being a vile cunt.

My post was defending the club I support. I didn’t mention the manager in that post. That was your obsession with him to the point of shitting on the football club you support
I’ll be in Bilbao supporting my club. But I fully well admit that this is the most apathetic I’ve ever been with THFC.
Might be because I’m getting older but I think (and hope) it’s more to do with this arsehole managing my club and when he fucks off, I can get engaged again. Or maybe that’s not possible whilst Levy remains .

It’s our second European Final in 40 years. That’s not downplaying, it’s reality.

Then look at his defense of the media’s relentless diminishing of anything good that happens to this club…

As for bigging up Amorim. GTFO that’s simping for the opposition. We owe United nothing and we have every right to believe we can beat them. Because we will
West Ham were singing “champions of Europe” when they won the Euro conference after finishing 14th. I remember thinking what a small time bunch of c..
Were you not thinking the same?
So how much should we crow about winning an albeit higher Euro competition (but clearly weak this year and eternally weaker for having no CHL teams dropping down into it) but finishing 17th?

Happy for you to prove me wrong but I’ve always perceived him defending the media agenda against this club while primarily referring to his own tenure.

And I’m not bigging up Amorim, but I’m contrasting someone who realises being 16th is completely unacceptable regardless of being in a final vs someone in 17th who literally said “what does it matter how many games we’ve lost, we’re in a final”
And yes Man Utd have higher expectations than us but I genuinely wouldn’t expect a Brighton manager to be so arrogant when stuck in 17th. Plus we’ve finished higher than United probably 7/8 times over the last 10/11 years?

I'll help you out. The fan relations point is why he is rightly viewed as a cunt:

- Called out Spurs fans for not wanting to gift Woolwich the league title (changed his system against City to try and prove a point) and then goes on to lose probably 22 PL games the following season
- Cupped his ears to away fans when we scored a goal in a game we ultimately lost to Chelsea
- Multiple instances of squaring up to fans caught on video
- General gaslighting all season

His other failings are annoying and the results appalling but if he had a more sincere personality and took some ownership he wouldn't be getting as much personal flak.
See Amorim as an example for someone taking accountability and recognising the issues rather than lying to fans that all of our problems are down to beating a load of Championship-level sides on the way to a EL final.

He's a two-bob conman that should be down the local market selling fruit and veg but is inexplicably raking in millions a year as a PL manager.

We were 4 points off 2nd place in the league after 12 games this season - and then VDV, Romero and Vicario were injured. Not long after, Davies was injured; then Forster, then Udogie and then Dragusin...... Losing the core of the defence fucked the season, then their backups got injured.
We’d already lost 5 games by then. The worst of anyone in the top 10.

Played 26 games since then. Won 5 of them. Five. 3 of those were against Southampton and Ipswich. 17th in the form period over that time.

If you think that is good enough you are utterly deluded.

To be clear, i would like to see him replaced, but that’s purely on the standard of play and results.

I do wonder what I’ve missed though. Lots on here calling him a cunt, vile, horrible, etc. What specifically has he done to be called those things? Can’t just be he’s a manager who’s failed. Must be something else to use such language to describe the man. What, specifically, has he done to deserve being described like this?
The reason some describe Ange in such strong terms isn’t purely about footballing failure, but the way he’s carried himself throughout that failure. There’s a consistent pattern of arrogance, deflection, and passive-aggressive remarks; especially toward fans (ear cupping, blaming the atmosphere etc) and the media, that rubs people the wrong way. He gives the impression that criticism is beneath him, yet clearly reacts to it because of how insecure he is.

Instead of humility or accountability, we’ve had stubbornness and smug behaviour - that disconnect, between poor results and unearned condescension, that is what’s pushed people over the edge imo.

I think he would have more sympathy, even with the poor results, if it were not for his vile attitude towards people who dare question him; and make no mistake, it is vile.

You only have to watch the way he spoke to that woman in the video to see his nasty side coming out, this has been a frequent occurance with him and I am of the belief that you get back what you put out into the world, hence why he is getting it back from people.

It’s not just that he’s failing; it’s how he’s failing and how dismissive he seems of those paying attention to it. That, for many, is what tips it from disappointment into genuine dislike.

Conte was knocked out of the conference league in the group stage by Rennes, Mura and Vitesse. They weren’t so strong.

Moirinho was knocked out by Zagreb.

Big trophy-winning names who could call on prime Kane and Son.

Domestic cups are hard to win but they were knocked out by Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Everton, Nottingham forest…

So beating smaller teams has not been a foregone conclusion for us when we’ve had managers with a winning mentality and all the know how. Now we’re in a major final you’re going to say it is expected and no big deal?

I actually agree that league form and general performances are a MUCH better indicator of quality than a random cup run which is far more prone to luck. Our league form is a better indicator of our performance. But when I’ve pointed it out in other contexts, you and others have been very quick to say - who cares? It’s all about trophies! And now we’re on the edge of winning a trophy - who cares? It’s all about league form!

You can’t have it both ways.
The caveat about the conference league debacle is that we weren't knocked out on the pitch. UEFA refused to re-schedule one of our games when we had a Covid outbreak within the team and we were forced to forfeit.

So it is kinda hard to blame Conte for that one. I do think that we would have gone on through otherwise.

Didn’t read all of that but conference league and Europa league are nothing alike.

Were we small time when we were the first British club to win a European trophy? That was the EL?

The other time we won it was small time as well?

Conference league is nothing like the Europa League

Many of us (including myself) called Jose arrogant but my god...Ange is 10 levels above him in that regard! What's even worse is, it's unearned arrogance, at least Jose can point to real success.

I don't know how anybody can actually like Ange at this point, only thing I can think of is the people who like him probably behave the same way he does, hence they see no issue with it.

Spot on.

Another key element is that ordinarily Levy sacks him in October/November. This season, for some reason, Levy has held off the trigger and so fans have been subjected to a whole season (+ back end of last season) of horrid football and arrogant treatment. The resentment has been allowed to build and fester to a greater level than you would normally see because the club has not taken the required action.

Totally. I've actually felt sorry for other managers we've had this bad like Ardiles and Gross as they were clearly decent people struggling to adapt to the top level. They didnt constantly whine, make excuses, act like they had taken over perennial relegation strugglers and neither were arrogant and acted like they reinvented football. He's a dickhead and a shit manager to boot. I'd suggest if you're taking on a prem job you can only afford to be one of those things at most.

Oy, Postecogloser, take a leaf out of this bloke's book and try being straightforward, honest and nice, for a change...

If people could stop bigging up the opposition for our second biggest game in 40 years, that would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Spurs fans

We were 4 points off 2nd. The EPL is no longer a 4 team league. There are 10-12 decent teams in the league.

4 points off 2nd was performing well within expectations. The subsequent injuries fucked us since we didn't have the required quality in our backup players.

On the City game, I can see what he was saying. So many fans of the club believe we have a losing mentality from the owners down. So we want to win every game. Get a winning mentality. To suggest he didn’t understand the rivalry is mad, as he spent two years in the most poisonous rivalry in world football. The rivalry we have with that lot pales significantly to the bigot brothers one.

Cupping his ear? Vile cunt? No. Stupid? Aye.

Squaring up to fans. Natural I suppose, but wrong.

Gaslighting? Again, not great. Started off with a refreshing honesty but has blown that in the last few months.

His defensive dismissive nature has grated recently. I’d have more regard if he held his hands up and admitted his failings.

As for his relationship with the media - fuck them. Constant stupid questions aren’t going to lead to in-depth thoughtful responses.

Is he arrogant? Definitely. Still not seeing or hearing anything that I’d describe as the behaviour of a vile cunt. Surprised that I’m on the tolerant side here as I tend towards not being very patient of the slightest indiscretion.

We all have differing levels of tolerance I suppose.
