I mean wtf is it that we have to rest players to save them for the likes of bodo? If we had a decent system and tactics any 11 we put out should be good enough. I’m sure oddbert cost more than bodo team. It’s like we were scared of them and could only beat them by playing our so called best 11. The way some go on about it , its like we were playing PSG in the semi.
Very true. It's a striking observation about how many teams with large will bills (ours is still one of the largest in Europe) struggle a lot of the time against inferior opposition. The well coached teams like Liverpool and City don't struggle. But cunts like us do. A lot. The most obvious explanation is piss poor coaching. With the exception of one or two outliers (Werner), I don't believe the players we have are overpaid vs other PL players. Perhaps PL players generally are somewhat overpaid vs many other leagues?

If people could stop bigging up the opposition for our second biggest game in 40 years, that would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Spurs fans

It’s not bigging them up.

In fact, it’s the opposite. Amorim knows that his tenure has been terrible so far. That he hasn’t done well enough. He has the humility to say this regularly. United are shit, but he admits that.

In fact, he has said the final isn’t that important compared to fixing how bad the team is.

Compare that to Ange: failing utterly and unlike Amorim has had time and windows. Yet is finding every excuse for the league, bigging up reaching the final as the greatest accomplishment ever, talking himself up.

Class vs disgrace. Amorim might well be a shit coach but at least he’s not an egomaniac freak like Ange.

Must admit I thought that Ange speech in the dressing room after the Bodo game was in places badly mis-judged, not least where he talked about how experienced he was. FFS, in the room you have a World Cup winner mate. Experienced doing what? Had to make it in part about him. Hard to know how it went down unless you were there I guess

Anyway, COYS! Angeball 2.0 taking us to a huge glory night in Spain

Nope. The only Australians who think he should stay are non-spurs fans.
We have no right to demand better because we're in a final for a trophy for a change.

Meanwhile almost unanimously Spurs fans see 17th on the table as not only unacceptable, but a sackable table position.
I want him out as much as anyone else.

Europa League final result determines mutual agreement vs sacked IMO.

Laugh all you like. Poch, Jose and Conte all gave up and sulked when injuries fucked their key players.

Ange has never once criticised the club and has stood by the players, only having called out Biss and Werner for not stepping up.

The fans wanted a trophy - and he's as close as any coach in decades to doing that. He knows the league results will lose him his job, but he hasn't quit, hasn't throw his toys out the pram and is focused on results.

Believe me, his next club will be one of the elite teams of Europe, and it would surprise me to see him taking over from Pep at City in the summer. Ange is elite, and a winner.
You are endearingly batshit, as far as I can tell.

But if not, stop wasting your life trolling on here, seriously.

Why does it tske seasons. Potter took over from the very pragmatic Hughton and coPolitely changed their style with virtually the same players. He intake two seasons. Same with a host of other managers. Now you’re saying his philosophy could take multiple seasons to implement. Joke!

Hang on a minute... 🤔

Back in Europe

Ange was asked how much he's looking forward to being back in European competition...

"I am really pleased to be back there and excited to be back in it. I spoke about it last year that it was a real gap in our calendar and didn't help us at certain times of the year not having regular football, that challenge of playing different types of opposition and exposing our whole squad to some meaningful game-time. And the worst thing was sitting around watching other teams play in it. It didn't sit right with me so being back in a European competition is important."

I doubt he will get a job with an elite team. At Celtic he had a 0-2-4 record in Champions League and he will be coming off a 20 loss season with Spurs. To take the next step forward, to a bigger club, he will have to demonstrate that his system can work at the top levels of the sport. If I had to make an out of left field guess about where he could end up, I would say he might replace Amorim at Manchester United at some point, especially if Spurs win the Europa League over them. I think Postecoglou has done real damage to his brand at Spurs. He would also be a good fit for a national team somewhere. It will never happen, but Amorim and Postecoglou would both be better off if they swapped teams.

I thought exactly the same thing. When he tells them he's basically seen it all and done its alI I laughed. It was deeply revealing, my Mrs said he has imposter syndrome and it was on display here front and center.

Ain't nobody pissed off we sacked this guy after a cup win.
A cup win against a Chelsea side that got 85 points that season. Also beat Arse who got 83.
We even beat City away when we had 10 men.
We finished 11th with a haul of 46 points that many thought was bad.

I actually think spirits were higher towards the end of the 07/08 season too.
We only lost 6 games from January to the end of the season. Unfortunately we drew 7. But we weren't getting beat week after week after week, with worrying ease.

We even got to the R16 in the Europa League were were very unlucky to go out to a good PSV with a brilliant keeper.
The R16 of the Uefa Cup that season involved Spurs, PSV, Bayern Munich, Leverkusen, Benfica, Anderlecht, Getafe, Zenit, Marseille, Fiorentina, Everton, Sporting, Hamburg, Rangers and, oddly, Bolton.

This season, those 16 teams became Spurs, United, Rangers, AZ, Frankfurt, Ajax, Bodo, Pletzn, Lazio, Fenerbahce, Bilbao, Lyon, Staua, Sociedad, Olympiacos, Lyon

it just hasn't got the same weight. So trying to wave his dick around about getting us there doesn't wash with me.

Each season we go into 3 or 4 competitions.

Why was Conte criticised as harshy for his abysmal cup and European performances?

Why want Jose criticised for his abysmal European performances?

Poch managed 1 good season in Europe beyond last 16. (Does that mean we finished 16th??l - pathetic !)

You lot wanted a real trophy. You'regetting one. Turns out the "top 4" trophy is the one that most of you prefer. You can go celebrate that with the Gooners, I'll keep the Europa trophy thanks.
