This year, 25% of the teams in it will be in the CL nextFinal season.

And not a single fucking one of them will do anything of note. You know it, I know it, every cunt on here knows it.

Sevilla used to piss the competition for fun, rock up to get beaten by every half decent CL team and then win it again. Because it’s the ropey league.

I know you’re desperate to pretend it is something it isn’t just to cling on to this manager, but you sound desperate tbh.

A competition Rangers, fucking Rangers, were recently a few good penalties away from winning. That alone should end this entire discussion.

United must be amazing to have finished so high in the table and been unbeaten till the final. A properly good team to have achieved that in such a strong competition.

Deluded waffle.

I honestly doubt either Lazio or Bilbao make top 8 in the Prem and looking at their squad quality/wage/budgets it makes sense. There’s no reason they should be better than a Brighton. The middle tier in England is overwhelmingly financially powerful compared to anyone else due to tv money. Fulham or Brighton could poach players from a Lazio.

I highly doubt it. Man City or Liverpool would never prioritise an EL over an FA cup because they would fundamentally be ashamed of even being in the EL because they view themselves as CL teams.

Do we all remember Liverpool ‘prioritising’ the EL last season? They barely ran. Or how we used to play second string teams in it under Poch before it awarded CL?

The only time English teams prioritise the Europa league is when they need an easier root in to the CL than achieving top 4/5 or whatever.
liverpool went full strength in the second leg and threw the big boys on in the first when they realised they was in jeopardy. klopp underestimated atalanta just like pep has against us in the CL 1/4s.

No but I don't think he'll last the season.
Ok - name your charity and then remind when I forget. I forget a lot.

I think Ange is gone, but I’m dreading to see what shite Paratici has lined up. Knowing him it’s likely to be Marco Silva or Thiago Motta, a wildly boring mid table finish and limp UCL exit. I like Thomas Frank a lot but don’t like the idea of him coming into a cup winning team managing in the champions league next season, he would have been a better option if we lost on Wednesday. Glasner is staying at Palace. I think Vincenzo Italiano could be the best option to replace Ange if he goes.

Woolwich would love to have won it but got beat by worse teams than we beat.

Jose, Conte and Poch all failed to win it.

If it’s such a Micky mouse piece of piss to win, why has it been 41 years since we did?

Why did 200k yids turn up to celebrate it? Eco did 20k spend £1000’s to get to Bilbao to support the team? Why did all the experts predict United and their monster wage bill (double ours probably) would win it?

You may not like it but this was a HUGE, watershed moment for our club and our fans and it was Ange and a bunch of players that you hate who delivered it.

If you were a fan of the club more than a fan of your own opinions, you’d get over yourself and enjoy it. But you can’t do that.

Not a single team we’ve played would be top half in the prem. The one we played in the final are literally 16th and were somehow unbeaten in the same competition.

It’s a big trophy due to the reward (CL) and because it’s a European cup. Its prestige is very high in relation to the actual competitive challenge.

If the FA cup gave you CL it would immediately become a better trophy - you play much better teams.

None of which should alter the enjoyment of winning it, but in that context I’m not gonna bum lick Ange or indulge in him massaging his own back for doing it either. Thanks for getting over the line and breaking our duck but we all have eyes and can see the quality of the teams we played.
Spot on post

I’ve never seen a team give less of a fuck than they did in that first leg. They literally were waltzing around. At one point Van Djik lost it while going on a leisurely stroll.

It just isn’t a big trophy to that level of club, the fans believe they belong in the CL. Our fans also had this level of contempt for it under Poch when we were a CL team. You don’t go from trips to the Bernabau to Genk and view it with the same intensity.

I do wish we’d taken it seriously one year under Poch and won something. This is what I’ll credit Ange for - he took it seriously. He saw our best chance by far of winning something and went for it.

If you are saying the EL is easier than the FA cup that is only because all the leagues 4th downwards are much weaker than the prem.

The prem is by far the strongest league now, teams like Brentford or Bournemouth would give Inter a game. That is the long term affect of money in the prem super charging the middle teams so the likes of Newcastle have a striker like Isak.

To win the EL we had to be better than 4/5th downwards across all of Europe. So if us and United ain’t great that doesn’t say much for the rest of Europe.

YAWP whatever you say Knoblet

This you isn't it :harrylol:

Lol partly because we viewed it as Mickey Mouse, funnily enough. When we were actually good we played second strings in it. We literally threw a knockout game against Dortmund because the club had big premier league games in between it.

It’s so funny you say things like this thinking you’re making a point, when really it just reinforces mine. Cheers mate.

But yeah blah blah blah I can’t enjoy it because I’m arguing on here that it has to be put in to context because I’m still Ange Out. Fucking tedious.

I have enjoyed winning it and will continue it while managing to not be a massive Ange dickrider forced to pretend Bodo are actually really good (THEY KNOCKED OUT LAZIO!!) and other ridiculous nonsense rather than just enjoying the circumstances for what they were.

the fact you get into europa off the back of winning the FA cup tells you what order the trophies are in, in terms of prestige.

This year EL was easier to win compared to previous years, but still i would say - only CL , PL and LaLiga titles are bigger achievements than Europa League title in my book.

I am no fan of Ange, but calling it minor trophy is just stupid.

Tell the thousands of us that went to Bilbao (at no small cost) that it was meaningless.

Tell the 220,000 that were on the high road with another 100,000 watching online that it was meaningless.

What a fucking stupid cunt., 45 posts in 4 years tell the tale.

Cunt.
I'm a Tottenham Hotspur fan to my own Fault that's for damned sure. An American who Chose to support Spurs only a few years ago from afar just for the coach Poch and Kane and Son and Erickson. Call me whatever you wish I couldn't care less. You're accepting a Top tier club that Routinely performs as Mids and you think what happened this season is a ok because you're Stupid enough to Waste pesos supporting Levy and Angie. Ridiculous. Knob slobberer.

Spanish league is a 2.5 pony race- bottom of their table is mid level champo or worse.
