Not that it will stop of course, because we will have many on here believing CL glory would have beckoned, along with a decade of silverware if Postecoglou were to be sacked,and look at what we have got now,we told you so.

For me, any new manager who secures top 8, on top of getting us into the last 16 of the CL, and whatever else would be considered a good appointment. And that won't be easy by any stretch.
But it should (in my opinion) be the standard required or expected.

Not as sure myself. We scored two goals from turnovers and had another 3/4 good opportunities. Seemingly didn’t try to alter it through the match. I don’t watch Brentford every week so maybe off but they look to me like a direct team that tries to mostly play in transitions.
Changing it for our game when at the time we were top of the league in numbers for final third pressures and seemingly not working on it or having good enough players to do it, shouldnt give him that much credit. Ange changed how we were playing in the last part of the season when he went more pragmatic but we looked like a nothing team with no identity. Terrible both sides of the ball.

i wonder if they cared about the way they won it as much as spurs fans seem to about how we won the europa. I do wonder if they said it doesn't really mean much because they just stayed in a deep block against a team thats never been to a CL final with a midfield of winks and sissoko and a half dead harry kane

I think it's fair to say that, whilst only League title and CL are bigger than it, there is quite a big gap in prestige between the two groups.I agree to a certain extent, but how is the UEFA cup a 'lesser trophy' exactly?

We won the EL which is fantastic. Thank you Ange. But it was backs to wall for much of the game vs a shite United team. Even now, we have the players to be better than that.
After the EL win maybe Ange can land AEK or some other third tier club job in Europe. He might be wise to take that opportunity vs staying on at Spurs tbh.

The point isn’t ’oh we didn’t deserve to win it and it doesn’t mean anything’ it’s that based on a performance like that we shouldn’t be keeping a manager at the club.
It’s that simple. It’s not an attack on us winning it, it’s the questioning of a coach who has been so bad for so long who some of you want to keep because we won that game playing that way.

For someone who is a self-proclaimed data geek, this is a hilariously bad analysis of cherry-picked stats.
We went 1 up in a first half that was pretty even—with both sides having 10 minutes or so of back-and-forth offensive possession. We scored and came out in the second half to defend as we had zero real pace or creativity at our disposal, and our best players were all defensive-minded.
Look at the DEFENSIVE stats to get a picture of how we played to defend our 1-goal lead to get an idea of how well we played -
That's just stupid. The question is whether we'd have been more likely to win if we'd played like PSG and the answer is yes.
Pulling the wool over your own eyes by pretending that we played well in the final is not helpful. We played with our backs against the wall, and it worked out. Great - but most of the time it doesn't.
We did defend well yes. I'd take issue with "zero creativity" at our disposal though. Really? We had Bentancur, Son, Odobert, Porro, VdV, Sarr, Moore. Not exactly Zidanes any of them, but again, it's whether the manager has coached them well and set them up well.
Overall our EL run did not tell the story of a really well-coached side that is going places. Maybe the Bodo games and Qarabag at home were the exception. But they are championship/League One level teams tbf.
Of course it's cherry picked, I'm making a point that we had zero attacking threat apart from one scuffed goal. You don't make that point by, I dunno, citing the number of throw-ins.
The defensive stats aren't particularly amazing other than the clear sheet at the end.
Seeing as you're into stats go and look at the stats for the CL final in 2019 and then just repeat what you just said with a straight face lmao

There's greater context around it than just comparing the two matches, Klopp already had so much credit with the Liverpool board/supporters, they weren't coming off of a league season where they finished 17th, the didn't look poorly coached and barely able to do the basics of football in nigh on every game, and they weren't playing a side as dismal as Man Utd.
If you are looking to the Europa win to outweigh the abject League performance, then it requires more than just a "by hook or by crook" scrape a win performance to do so.
Is it nice to have won the trophy, absolutely, but was there anything about that performance that only Ange could have coached? Was there anything about it to excite you for the following season? Was it the origin of a great footballing dynasty?
For me the answer is no to all of the above.
If we'd have come out, played them off the park, and swashbuckled our way to a 6-0 trouncing, then there might be a more difficult debate to be had.

Lets be honest even if we'd have been superb in that final and done them by 3 or 4 you really shouldnt be changing your mind on 90 minutes when you have 17 months worth of evidence showing how poor we are. He stood a chance of staying on if we'd have shown more in the league, things like consistancy, clean sheets, more difficult to beat but we've just got worse and worse over time. There is zero cohesion to our play, we're boring to watch, individuals and the team collectively going backwards. There is also zero sign things would improve.
