This was your first post here.
Did you follow Ange from Aus to Scotland to NL?

My post proven right, was it not?

‘Would be the best thing to happen to Tottenham since Pochettino coming close’

And yes, as a fan of football, I took notice of Ange 14 years ago when he won league titles with Brisbane Roar, he stood out as a special manager (and person) to me then, so watching the journey has been great entertainment.

Oh well that's definitive then lol. Ffs
It simply is not the case that Ange always plays his favorites through poor form. He benched Maddison, he benched Bissouma, he benched Udogie, to the extent he's had the available fit depth to make changes to his squad (which is his ACTUAL problem) he's done so.

Like, you're just flatly wrong, but the discourse here has gotten to the point that any lazy narrative that ever applies to criticize any manager is now being thrown at Ange because he's Mister Stupid Idiot Guy and we've completely stopped thinking rationally around here.

Waaah sick of proven winners

Waaah sick of unproven winners

Some people just love to moan and write the guy off as if it makes them look smart. Writing war and peace on why somebody shouldn't be appointed because of the sense of entitlement that comes from superior training facilities. All we need is an "end of" to complete the fuckwit flog fan bingo.

You'll all be sporting mullets this time next year and be looking up rental units in Clapham.

Doesn't make me look smart.
Just right.
This time a year ago I was happy to be wrong.
22 league defeats later and I could hardly even raise a smile at a win in a tournament containing a list of wifi passwords.

Be interested to see with Inzaghi now going to Al Hilal, if we make a decision in the next day or two on Ange.

I am really hoping Inzaghi wasn't our top target and now he is off the table, we start hearing news leak that Ange is staying.

That will be a fucking disaster.

But you weren't a SPURS fan until he came here?

i'm not gonna lie, him staying will break me and my love for this club. not saying i'll walk away but i'll need a break from the toxicity he brings. i'm very worried that he's going to break us

That’s lovely. I doubt that consensus also included being 17th and continuing our generally dire performances from the back end of last season to the point where every week was a painful chore.

You know it is possible to win something without being diabolically bad elsewhere and only being better than literal championship squads?
17th or 6th - what's the difference? £33.4 million is the difference or 2 NFL games and 1 Beyonce concert... but what 6th didn't get you is the opportunity to play Champions League football by winning the Europa League but I'm guessing 6th, no trophy and Europa League qualification is you're preferred option. With our depleted squad, Ange made a decision. He felt that we couldn't fight on all fronts so he cut his cloth and it paid off. I saw someone, maybe it was you argue that Newcastle did both. Won a trophy and finished in the Champions League place. They did do exactly that, but they did it without having to play European football so they had no tough decisions to make on what to sacrifice so it's not a true reflection. Look at the year before... Newcastle played Champions League and finished bottom of their group, finished 7th in the league and didn't make it past the QF of both domestic cups largely due to the fact Eddie Howe tried to prioritise the Champions League but by doing that, their early league form suffered. My guess is that you think that is a good season.

So....what IF

Ange was instructed - get champions league football - at ALL costs.

ANGE - Hold my beer, i'll get you a trophy too mate.

If the club weren't happy with league results, they would have made a change in Jan. They knew Ange was a winner, and he guaranteed success.

My money is on Ange being at City by the end of summer. We should be offering him a massive contract to stay not sacking him!!

I guarantee, Ange will be lifting the champions league title in the next couple of years, hopefully with Spurs
Fucking hell

:ange-blow:

Did he really make that decision though?
I remember him rushing back both VDV and Romero just for them to get injured. And that was for a league game.
It seems more like a story he constructed afterwards. And the reason we lost 22 games was not because of a depleted squad. It was because of really poor game plans.

I find it strange that at the start of the season the majority of sentiment on here was fuck the league, just win a trophy. Now that he’s done that the sentiment has changed to fuck a trophy we need a better league season.
Putting all my bias aside, I honestly believe Ange will be staying. He has performed, contractually, perfectly. In his 2 seasons he has returned us to European football, won a European trophy and qualified for the riches of the CL.
Irrespective of your thoughts on our league performances, he absolutely has earned the right to start the season.
It seems though it’s a case of damned if you do and damned if you don’t for a lot on here.
Perhaps if Ange wasn't such an arsehole and didn't use so many excuses as to why the team lost he would get a bit more leeway from some of us but, he doesn't does he.

He did. Didn't make it past the last 16. Which is strange, given that it's such an easy competition to win. Apparently.

Yes, Mauricio Pochettino did manage Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League. During his tenure as Spurs manager from 2014 to 2019, the club participated in the Europa League in the 2014–15 and 2015–16 seasons.

  • In 2014–15, Spurs reached the Round of 32, where they were eliminated by Fiorentina.
  • In 2015–16, they progressed to the Round of 16, but were knocked out by Borussia Dortmund.
  • In 2016–17, Spurs reached the Round of 32, where they were eliminated by Gent.
Right, now show poch's league positions for those season's - not once was he 17th!!
I can't believe you're comparing an actual manager with the current incumbent

Next season will be a fucking disaster if he stays.

A small part of me wants it to happen just so all the absolute clowns who think Ange should get a third season are actually shown how clueless they are when it continues to go tits up.

Will be fascinating to see what excuses they come out with this time.

But that still isn't enough for me to want him to stay. He has to go.

We really need to hear a decision this week. Transfers are well underway and we don't even know who our manager is going to be.

If we are unsure you can bet players and agents are too.

I reckon if Ange isn't gone in the next 10 days, he is here for next season unfortunately.

The club have had pretty much all of last season, at the very minimum since Xmas, for them to have realised Ange was a blagger way out of his depth so a plan should have been in place to get rid of him and hire a replacement. I would have thought we would have had our ducks in a row on making changes as soon as the season finished or at least soon after.

I guess it is still early June, so we shouldn't panic just yet. But I don't see why there should be so much of a delay in gettign rid of him.

Maybe they are just waiting for Ange to get back from holiday. I just really hope there is a plan in place on hiring a replacement, and it isn't a case where Levy still doesn't have a clue what he's doing or he's decided that Ange is getting a third season.

All the noise from journalists seem to be he is going to leave. They are likely guessing, but at least they are guessing he is going.

I just have a really horrible feeling that we will get breaking news from a prominent journo in the next few days which will say "exclusive: Ange stays at Spurs. Levy has promised him full backing in the transfer market, and recognises injuries and difficulties last season were out of Ange's control".
