Poch's priority was top 4 - above all else. There was no pressure to win anything, and no compromises made to try and win a domestic cup.

Our Champions League run to the final resulted in 3 wins from our final 12 league games as he rested players and played weakened teams in the league. It was only through shockingly bad Woolwich and United end of season run that we got 4th; and we were just a few points away from ending up 6th.
How do you know that, did Poch tell you? How do you know Poch wasn't under pressure was that part of the conversation too - or was it just you're tiny brain putting 2 and 2 together and getting 360!
SO!! 4th just happens to be 13 places higher than 17th - that's hardly neglecting the league.
Will you just stop it- you don't have a leg to stand on and how stupid are you to compare Poch to Postecoglu its not even a contest.

Do people not think Poch has lost some of his aura since he was last here?

He left after an awful run of form. Hasn't really done a lot since.

Yet some can't wait to get him back.

If we have to rule with our heads and not our hearts for Ange, surely it's the same for Poch?
I think with Poch , we would all just like to see what he could do with a bigger squad and having someone else buy the players , as for all the credit Poch deserves he signed off on some stinking transfers that can't just be pinned on Levy , getting GLC over Bruno Fernandes , I may be wrong but I'm sure we were linked with them both at the time and went for the Argentine.
Ndombele and Sanchez as well, neither were the cheap option.
We seem to be getting better players last few seasons with the likes of Udogie, Bergvail etc , and I think Poch could work wonders with this current goup of players, but I still don't really think he has proved himself since leaving us.

I'm still not sure if i would go back down that route though, i'd rather try someone else , Glasner for me I think would be ideal , knows how to win and plays good football.
The trouble is whoever we get in is going to require patience from the fans as our squad needs a lot of work with it.

This is pretty revisionist. Poch was talking himself away from the club late winter, league form collapsed (6 wins in the last 15) and players like Eriksen completely checked out mentally.

I’ll always love our time under Poch but we lost that CL final well before a ball was even kicked and we were only there because of some miraculous play by Moura.

Regardless of what was happening behind closed doors with Levy, he caused that. I wouldn’t want him back tbh.
I wouldn't want Poch back either but, comparing Poch with the clueless buffoon we have at the moment is insane

If a manager can get top 4 with minimum spend then he is never getting sacked by those above us, we don't have the kind of owners that City and Pool do where top 4 is the absolute minimum for a manager, they demand trophies.

Poch himself even said once how a trophy like the league cup wouldn't change things, he wanted to be competing in the CL and going for the league.

Yeah agree with this.

Having read through the debate on here, I think I'd be happier with Glasner than Frank or Ireola.

My only issue is I can't reconcile the idea of getting rid of Ange after finally winning us a trophy.

Maybe it's heart ruling head. I'm definitely a hopeless romantic.

If they do keep him though, they have to back him and that hasn't generally been our way.

Nearly all the players have supported Ange now (and not just with platitudes).

But I'm sure the keyboard warriors know more about dynamics within the club.

You have to take what the players say about their manager with a pinch of salt. When asked a direct question by a journalist or someone in the media about Ange, what are they supposed to say?
They may very well all be behind him but I personally doubt it

TBF what the players feel about this shouldn't hold that much weight after a 22 loss season.

However, it might make the new manager's task a little more difficult.

I might be wrong, but imo he’s made some terrible career choices since he left us.

What the fuck are you on about lmao, we tried to win two titles under Pochettino. The second attempt we got 86 points. We failed due to falling short not because top 4 was the aim. We also got to a cup final in his first season.

Yeah, because the CL is infinitely more energy and attention sapping than playing AZ and Bodo Glimt ya lemon. We played two legged ties against Dortmund, Man City and the Ajax that punked Juventus and Madrid.

And we didn’t finish anywhere near fucking 17th, which is the whole point.

Yeah I'm the same, my head says if we give him another chance he will be gone by Christmas but my heart says how can we sack the manager who said he was going to win a trophy from the start and actually delivered.

Like you say though, regardless of who is in charge , the squad needs major surgery this window , serious investment is needed

Poch would be a bad move for all involved.
Look forwards not backwards.

He could still manage the women’s team.

Prof the gestapo boss from COYS says:

I’ve had several sources tell me that DL is making the decision on Ange and others tell me that he’s told VV to make that call.

Most of them expect a decision to be made by the end of this week, though we may not hear what that decision was until next week.

Multiple sources say we’ve been unofficially talking to Frank’s reps and have agreed an outline of the contract parameters, in case the decision is made to part with Ange.

I liked Poch. Was sad to see it end the way it did but it was the right decision at the time.

I actually like Jose and think he's the hardest done by of our recent managers.

Did not like Conte but the bloke had proper issues personally so won't say too much against him.

I like Ange. Has brought us an amazing trophy and defends the club exactly how a fan would want our manager too.

All this is to say I'd keep Ange and give Jose another try before I even thought bout Poch of our recent managers.
I agree with your previous post that Poch looked spent at the end of his reign but I don't blame him. The guy had been on the road for a couple of years, lost some fine players, got lumbered with the Winks Sissoko duo of doom and still got the very best out of what Levy gave him. PSG is a weird club but he went to that absolute mess of an outfit by the river and got them firing on all four cylinders again.

There isn't a universe out there where I'd take Mourinho back over him. Poch is made to get the best out of this squad.

He seems to be well respected in the locker room. They seem to want him to stay. Surely this gets taken into consideration
yes but no matter who the coach/manager is…….. Ange/Frank/Silva we ain’t competing in 4 competitions full throttle unless we get a significant squad upgrade and there’s one reason/person is in charge of that?
[/QUOTE]

Sure, the Levy/ENIC issue persists regardless of the coach. Ultimately, we’re going to require a coach that can improve the quality of play with most of what already exists with a handful of switches. CL helps us but doesn’t change how Levy acts dramatically.

Yeah, cause players are all astute, articulate and insightful.

Or

They quite like playing crossbar challenge all week then a kick about on the weekend where they don't care if they win or lose.
