from the turn of the year Jan 2019 we pretty much fell off a cliff in the league. Even games we won we looked poor

Literally limped over the line for top4 with a terrible Brighton team getting a point at Goons end of season

his reaction at the win Ajax looked like a man having a nervous breakdown

Dembele in the middle was a massive loss. I wonder if we could go back in time and tell Levy, Poch and Dembele what affect it would have had, whether he'd stay?
Obviously we didn't know we'd get a CL final, but the league form was already wobbly by December.

The Pochettino effect that a lot of fans hope for a repeat of and probably the board too is a pretty rare occurrence. the stars just aligned that time. Poch is a unicorn , eddie howe another

often with these lower rank prem managers who do well at small prem clubs with zero expectations, they just more often than not choke at a bigger prem club when teams play differently than what they're accustomed to, the expectation to win more games than they're accustomed to, the burden of it all etc. fails more than it works usually

I wouldnt be confident of frank lasting more than 18 months , more like 6. home crowd will be immediately on his back if football isnt good/ lose a few games - wont be used to that
That is exactly what I said earlier although I think I plumped for 3 months... Brentford don't exactly play free flowing football... it's what I call industrial Scandi football... but that won't be enough for what we want and that is to compete with the big six or seven or eight or whatever it is now. Franks record against the big six (Us, Woolwich, Chavs, Bin Dippers, City and Europa League runners up) is PLD 48 - W10 D11 L27... not exactly inspiring... but what really worries me is that we did the double over them last season. I mean come on... we were shite for the majority of the season and Frank still couldn't beat us.

You have to take what the players say about their manager with a pinch of salt. When asked a direct question by a journalist or someone in the media about Ange, what are they supposed to say?
They may very well all be behind him but I personally doubt it

Why would you doubt it?

He just led many of them to the first major trophies in their careers.

Yeah agree with this.

Having read through the debate on here, I think I'd be happier with Glasner than Frank or Ireola.

My only issue is I can't reconcile the idea of getting rid of Ange after finally winning us a trophy.

Maybe it's heart ruling head. I'm definitely a hopeless romantic.

If they do keep him though, they have to back him and that hasn't generally been our way.

Haven’t we already backed him up to £400 million?

Yeah, cause players are all astute, articulate and insightful.

Or

They quite like playing crossbar challenge all week then a kick about on the weekend where they don't care if they win or lose.
Come on now. We can all make things up but I think from the aftermath of the Europa win, it was incredibly clear how much the players value Ange.

All interviews mentioned how his belief helped them.
The players dragged him in to the trophy lift.

Of course, some will like him more than others, but it is clear that throughout a shit league season, the players stuck by Ange and they had every confidence in him.

They said this on the COYS Forum yesterday fwiw.
If Ange leaves this summer he will land on his feet somewhere else. The definition of "fairly big" clubs is also of course relative. The other day there was someone on here that posted a rumour of him being of interest for AEK Athens for example. Certainly a big club, but not relative to some other clubs.

The question is if that interest remains if he gets the start of the season and things go poorly.

Prof the gestapo boss from COYS says:

I’ve had several sources tell me that DL is making the decision on Ange and others tell me that he’s told VV to make that call.

Most of them expect a decision to be made by the end of this week, though we may not hear what that decision was until next week.

Multiple sources say we’ve been unofficially talking to Frank’s reps and have agreed an outline of the contract parameters, in case the decision is made to part with Ange.

Mate you are such an enigma - you shit over the SC ITK then regularly post it in here?

Why?

It does feel like its a 50/50 between keeping Ange and hiring Frank at this stage. Sounds like frank has beaten off all the other competition.

Sounds like the board have already interviewed Frank and want to give him the job. Paratici is definitely in the Frank camp anyway! While the players are very much behind Ange and probably pushing back against the board and club. We are all assuming Levy gets the final say but its hard to know if its all being left with him either. This new CEO might have a say in it too. Its rare that you get such a huge split between all the players and all the board members. Someone needs to make the decision and a lot of people won't be happy with the outcome either way.
Yeah, next season already feels like a car crash waiting to happen... if we keep or move on from Ange there will be a group completely dissatisfied and thus you create a divided club.

I think with Poch , we would all just like to see what he could do with a bigger squad and having someone else buy the players , as for all the credit Poch deserves he signed off on some stinking transfers that can't just be pinned on Levy , getting GLC over Bruno Fernandes , I may be wrong but I'm sure we were linked with them both at the time and went for the Argentine.
You are wrong. Poch wanted Bruno, but as with pretty much any of our managers first choice targets, Levy failed to get it over the line.

Bruno Fernandes transfer secret revealed by source at Tottenham, he cried

He is clearly a good man-manager and a motivator in these kind of situations. We saw it a bit in clips before he joined us. He has always been good at this stuff.

Players LOVE that stuff.

What most people have an issue with is the general coaching of players and tactical ability. So often in games you see 4-5 players all clustered together in the same space, passes inviting pressure, playing it out to the wings and then giving no out-ball so we lose possession, overloads in attack that mean just one stray pass resulting in a fast break against us etc. If we could combine Ange's man management and belief with a decent coach to take over the football details, maybe we'd get somewhere.

To a certain extent, that's what we got with Poch. He just couldn't get us over the line.
