Quibbling over brief Serie B tenures before he had any coaching experience is total nonsense so I'll just ignore that.
What the record does show about Conte is not that he needs the richest and most dominant team in his league (he absolutely did not have that this year, for instance), but that he's unstoppable if you give him two factors:
1. Be new in the job
2. Not have midweek European fixtures to worry about
The trouble is those factors inherently go away as a result of having Conte in the job.
With minimal European interruption Conte took 79 points from his first 38 games here starting with an utter disgrace of a squad. And then he wasn't new anymore and had the Champions League to contend with, on top of the inherent poor fit factors, and nature took its course.
The 1st 10 games are gone now.
He will NEVER repeat that form.
It's not just Europe that made us so shit this season, it was headed this way last season and carried on EXACTLY how we expected.
The only way to get worse now is to get relegated.
