I stopped denigrating him after Frankfurt away. My criticism was always about the defence domestically and holding him accountable to the words he said in the media. He won my respect by delivering a trophy. I judged it as a more successful season than the board.

I can't watch the documentary because I think it was an unreasonable shameless act to sack him and simultaneously continue to celebrate his victory.
Look at it this way.

Ange was financially compensated and the Spurs supporters were rewarded with a much needed trophy.

He couldn't carry on as Spurs manager.

His credibility was gone with the 22 league defeats regardless of the injuries.

MLS would be a good fit, he needs to be in a league where no one defends

I watched a lot of MLS in the states. Lots of pot shot goals and good for highlight reels but the defending is abysmal!
There are a small number of well-paid players in MLS, but if I recall correctly the average salaries across the league are similar to that of League One players, so you get League One level players and some foreign imports paid for their name who have one foot in retirement

Yeah, Rooney said the designated players get treated differently too - fly in first class whilst the regular squad get budget seats.

Rooney said he turned down that treatment, thinking he would sit with the other players, but he got a random seat in economy

This composition has changed and continues to change rapidly. Even Rooney 6-7 years ago was a different time for the league.

It's not rocket science that a massive gulf between three players and everybody else is not a winning-efficient use of money in a football squad, and there are lots of mechanisms by which teams are evening that spread out.

The bottom of MLS rosters (that's right bitches, rosters) remain very bad, but the starting XI nowadays is made up of players worth and making more money than League One guys get. And the quantity of genuinely good players keeps increasing beyond just the star retirement names.

The quality of play really was as bad as America-hating trolls said it was in like 2012. It ain't the Premier League by any stretch today, but the change has been very dramatic.

Some good facts there:

"Miami and LAFC’s squads each have nine players earning above $743,750 annually, while Seattle has eight."

That's roughly 14k pounds per week, which is roughly double the average League One wage.

One of the great things about MLS is the union posts the salary of every player online. I wish the PL did this.

Yeah a special night
But please don't forget the embarrassing league campaign where he was consistently found out to be totally out of his depth :nunothumb:

I think we all know if we had of qualified for the CL instead of the EL last season, then our campaign would have been a write off.

But history will remember the EL win.

The league form and his sacking will be a footnote.

Good for him. He can be remembered in history while managing La Galaxy, AEK Athens etc, because actual clubs know what that blokes level is and can contextualise the trophy win.

An immigrant boy raised in Australia who got to manage them in the World Cup, then managed one of the select few clubs that have won the European cup and then achieved European level success with Spurs.

Incredible story.

Yeah it sounds so glamorous. Lost every game in the World Cup of course and the European cup was the Europa league who I promise you some coaches you’ve never heard of have won.

Incredible though. How one man could manage to get that team as low as 17th.

The silence is deafening really as every manager job in England is filled, one even being filled by Mason, except that of Leicester... who are being linked with Dyche instead (lol)
