In person, every Spurs fan I know sees Ange as a legend that won us our biggest trophy in 40 years. He also had 1 good league season out of 2 and reached SFs of both domestic cups.

His time was on balance a massive success AND you can argue that 17th place was enough to get sacked.

That argument would have been much stronger if his successor wasn’t the worst manager in our history but tbh, the fact that we got worse in the league AFTER Ange only helps solidify his legend status,

The only people who really dispute this are on the internet because they prefer to defend their takes on him instead of celebrating what he achieved. In person, I bet they all sing Ange songs in the pub.

Poch is also a legend but it will always hang over him that he never actually won anything.

Mentioning Ange in the same breath as Poch is nuts. Graham and Ramos are the managers you want to be comparing to Ange.

I've not met anyone other than on this forum that considers Ange a legend. People are pleased the team delivered a trophy while he was at the helm but him being a legend is just beyond sycophantic for what he actually did for us.

Basically yeah

And, I’m happy they went the De Zerbi route instead of bringing him back.

I’ll be honest here, removing emotional attachment, I think I’m also happy they went De Zerbi instead of waiting until the summer for Poch.

what they would’ve done if they actually had a plan would’ve been to get Poch or De Zerbi after Ange. And if niether were possible, get a coach with a similar mentality

Everything tends to be amplified online TBH, I don't even think these guys actually hate him, they probably hate the fact that Spurs are a bit shit and they are desperately looking for a scapegoat and using Ange angst just to cope, especially since Levy has gone.

I think a few fans weren't feeling him when he did that nonsense against Chelsea but the overriding feeling of love was restored when we won the trophy and especially during the parade.

I think this is the second time I've seen you say this, can you please provide a link to the match report of whichever FA Cup semi-final you think he took us to?

But you said he was a charlatan before the Europa League final win, therefore you agree that regarding the Premier League he was ''shit'',

I'm looking forward to your mental gymnastics on this one.

Poch is my favourite manager of the Premier League era BUT how do you square this when you presumably agree that Poch had the best Tottenham squad in the Premier League era while Ange Postecoglou had what you describe as a squad full of mediocre players?

I think there is a dislike for Ange with a number of fans. Hatred probably too strong. And it’s absolutely correct to dislike him for his league finish and some just didn’t like his attitude. Fair.

What it mostly seems to me though is the sheer number of wrong takes last season by the few that continue to post on this thread on the negative side.

He’ll get us relegated. Didn’t.
He won’t beat Frankfurt. Did.
He won’t beat Bodo. Did.
He won’t win the cup. Did.
He’s responsible for the injuries. Dubious.
Any manager would do better. Nope.

When we won the trophy, I felt a slight justification of my position of backing him for as long as I did. If I’d spent the entire season telling everyone things that turned out to be completely wrong, berating anyone who disagreed with me, I’d probably still be a bit pissed off at that. I’d probably go and hide for a while though, not double down by stinking this thread out every day.

It’s a shame that some just can’t accept they were wrong in the majority of their takes last season and just move on.
