Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Let's say how things really are - Conte got the results on back of having two world class attacking players, supported by 3rd, upcoming attacking player. It was not the system. It was individuals.

And from the moment one of the world class strikers fell off cliff, everything has totally crumbled and he has 0 ideas or knowledge how to improve anything at all.
all big teams got their results thanks to "inviduals", it's why they spend milions on transfer market to get the best players available.
if it was only a question of "system", they could save a lot of money and hire the baker of the town instead

I tend to believe that the loss of his friend Ventrone followed by Luca Vialli passing away so young must have an effect on him. He’s an emotional character and for all he’s earning, I have a lot of sympathy because some people don’t just bounce back from grief so easily.
He does need to make a commitment or tell Levy he’s off back to Italy to be near his family but then there’s the small matter of giving up £7 million in salary or so.
For his part, Levy needs to back his man if the commitment is there, but we know his record in that department.
It’s a toxic mix.
Edit - is he trying to get himself the sack to take the money and run?
I suggested a leave of absence for him, to allow him to grieve and get his head in the right space. Mind you, he might not come back!

Yet they all want a 'master baker', like Pep, Klopp etc.

A manager that can't make a team greater than the sum of their parts isn't worth a great deal.... Esp. not to a team like us.

After everything, I’m in the camp that says it’s time for ENIC to move aside. Whatever achievements they’ve made it is clear, to me anyway, that there is no meaningful strategy or planning on the football side of the business and certainly no vision for the future from a fans perspective. There is plenty of detail and discussion about this on the ENIC thread, so no need to dwell on that here. However, leaving the above to one side — whether you agree with it or not — we have to look at Conte, now that he’s said he will decide his future in the summer.

If he believes that it’s not working here because he’s not been given funds promised or lied to by Levy, he’ll be off in the summer like a bullet. Alternatively, if he’s been told there’s likely to be new investment into the club and that he’ll be backed this month and in the summer with new signings (I know, I know — jam tomorrow), then again he’ll have a decision to make at the end of the season.

In the meantime, and this is what boils my piss, Conte needs to accept that this is the squad he’s got until he walks away or gets the players he wants — so work with it. Show us that you are the coach you claim to be. Accept that Son has been anonymous all season and coach him back to where he was or should be, or drop him. Understand that Lloris is making too many mistakes and make a decision. Accept that in Perisic, Doherty, Royal and Sessignon you haven’t got the quality wing backs that your system requires. On that basis, don’t keep playing a midfield two, in whatever combination of players, and see them run ragged every game because they are continually being outnumbered four to two. Put your stubbornness to one side and earn your money as a coach. If that means at least trying to play to whatever strengths some of the more limited players have, a tall order I know but so be it. If you have to change formations to add Bissouma and Sarr to the midfield, for example, to protect the defence and just use two up front, try it. Whatever it is you decide, you must realise that getting slaughtered for 45 minutes in the first half of every game and conceding goals every first half (bar last night where it was reversed ) and struggling in cup games against the likes of Forest and Portsmouth is piss poor. Coming out after every game and saying “it’s difficult “ isn’t cutting it.

In simple terms, I don’t doubt he’s a great coach if he has quality players across the whole squad. He’s gone down a level with us and until he walks, or gets the players he wants, he needs to understand that he can’t keep churning out the same formation every game, watch it fail against the better sides, moan about it with any number of excuses and simply rinse and repeat. The whole thing is a mess, but if it stays like this between now and the end of the season, he needs to go.

And your point is that we have a great team and Dier is an incredible defender, same as Perisic who lost his man twice.
My point is that three recent World Cup semi finalists, two of whom played in the final, were involved in Spurs conceding 4 goals in 40 minutes.

Conte picked this team and the tactics.

Dier has a mistake in him but I don't recall him being at his worst last night.

Our star centre back picked up yet another cheap booking, against the champions, meaning he couldn't make any further tackles.

Our goalkeeper, who recently scored for Woolwich, picked up an assist for City last night as well as getting beaten on his near post for the umpteenth time.

Perisic, who does often make significant attacking contributions, had a mare.

You keep saying Conte may want to stay and shit like that. He obviously does not give a shit. We were the only people who would give him a job at the time and we are paying him a premium price at that at about £290K a week. He has no love the club he is just another mercenary just like Mourinho only more of a whiner.

Ok let’s get another manager in then because that will solve everything. 🙄

This is exactly what is going on.

Conte wants the sack.

Levy doesn't really want the extra cost of sacking Conte before his contract expires and appointing another credible manager.

Levy will also realise that the cheap option, of sacking Conte and appointing Mason until the end of the season, will lead to those who wish to protest venting everything on Levy.

It's all coming down on Levy this time unless he comes up with another cunning plan that will fool just enough into renewing for another season at the megadome.

He’ll start yet another ‘5 year plan ‘ with another manager in the Summer when Conte’s contract has run down without the slightest intention of implementing such a plan that keep us fans quiet!

Then Enic can get on with developing Tottenham High Road with a housing estate and cinema complex etc

Danny Murphy, it’s Conte that’s to blame he’s had success with his style/method before and he’s sticking with it but with this Tottenham team the players are not believing in the system and it’s not working……so is it Conte or the players…..🤷
