Manager Antonio Conte

It's not facts if it contains lies.
+300m spend after he was sacked

0 achievement and not even a good football to be brag about is a facts .

I think Mourinho's stint was very weird . He lost 13 times in all competition by april.

Currently we are in feb and conte has lost 8 in the league , ( i forgot how many in UCL / carabao / FA cup at least another 2-3 more losses ) so why conte ( who spend like 200m more compared ) is still here ?

The WBs will be picking up the two wide forwards who are either side of the striker...for example Saka and Martinelli if we were playing Woolwich.

So who picks up Tierney and White when they come forward?
Formations aren’t rigid and binary. Can have an attacking 451 or a defensive 433 / 343… depends where on the pitch they are (Saka could be the CB or WB and White could be WB). No-one man marks every area

Defensively after transition they are very much set, each of our players has a defined responsibility defensively, that's clear if you watch us closely.

Who picks up their fullbacks when they come forward if we play a 352 against a 433 or 343?

Depends on whether the manager defines it, or keeps it fluid. Are you asking what I think Conte would tell them to do?

You would think so, but in my limited Pub football style analysis, take the gooners game for example, we go 3 at the back and match up to their midfield 3vs2 which means they dominate the middle of the park,
With that in mind you could look to our wing backs to try and stretch the game and give us an out, the trouble is our Wingbacks are shite, which just leaves us sitting back trying to soak up pressure, we must be so easy to play against this way, maybe if we had a decent defence that didnt just panic while getting pressed it would be alright!
I just think when you have a team who on there day has some of the best attacking talent in the league, you should play to your advantages, stick an extra man in the middle, dont get overrun and maybe actually get the ball up top to Kane !
Simple, isn't it??

Ali Gold made a good point in his article about how it's ironic Conte is talking about needing stability yet it is his future which is in doubt and is probably playing a big part in the uncertainty surrounding the team.

No.

Our wing backs will pick up the wide forwards. Our left and right CBs will cover them and occupy the inside right and left sides blocking that channel. If you give them the responsibility to deal with say Saka and Martinelli you're now going 3v3 at the back which is madness.

So in a set, defensive 532 formation, our CMs will usually come across and pick up the other teams fullbacks as they come forward as we have no direct player to oppose them.

So essentially we end up with 2 in the middle again as we do already but this time with no wide forwards to either oppose the other teams fullbacks or to tuck in and help out when the ball is on the other side of the pitch to them.

So superficially 352 sounds better defensively and offensively because of the extra player in midfield, but you lose the wide forwards which hurts you going both ways AND you drag at least one CM out of the middle to pick up the other teams fullback when you're defending.

That's why 433 may be the optimal system - you have 3 in the middle, also wide forwards and you can still push your fullbacks up too. But you need excellent CBs and ideally a very strong CM defensively to cover. Say a Toby, Jan and a Wanyama for example.

Just imagine trotting out the usual back 5 formation and then seeing that Eric Dier is in the midfield on top...

Fucking hell, we're turgid enough as it is!

I've seen the word Turgid used a fair bit. Its not a word I use at all so thought I'd look up the meaning.

Bloated or swollen, congested, distended. Like a fast flowing overflowing river..
Or in language.....tediously pompous or bombastic.

The headline is misleading as are a lot of the propositions within the article. He answered some questions about football in Italy and England, there's nothing even vaguely controversial in his answers, there's no real hint of a preference.

And the Conte is chaotic as was the press conference bit is just nonsense, there's nothing to suggest the press conference was badly organized and chaotic because of Conte. It's Football London clickbait like most internet articles.

The full presser is available on YouTube.
The headline didn't bother me. His quotes in the presser bothered me

And, speaking about his return to Italy, albeit only briefly, Conte hinted that, though he loves the Premier League, it is a return to Italy that he truly pines for in the future.

“After Chelsea, this [Tottenham] is my second chapter in Premier League. The atmosphere at stadium is amazing, I love it — it’s so easy to fall in love with English football”, he explained.

“But you never forget your first love and Italy is always my first love”,

+300m spend after he was sacked

So not 380m directly spent by Conte then?

...And no; not your revised figure of 300m+ either.

Tip: The thing about "facts" is that they aren't facts if you have to fake them.

2 years (inc. Nuno) in euros:

177.9m - 38.7m (22/23)
95.9m - 34.6m (21/22)

= 273m (gross)
= 200.5m (net)

You're also acting like Jose didn't bring in a bunch of players too.

110.5m - 13.3m (20/21)
30m - 0m (Jan 20)

= 140.5m (gross)
= 127.2m (net) + big bucks for Bale's wages!

So there was 73.3m (net) difference.

0 achievement and not even a good football to be brag about is a facts .

Why is it merely "weird" whilst Conte salvaging our season last year and getting us 4th is somehow worse in your (evidently blinkered) eyes?

Look; there's an actual Jose thread.... Why not use that to fanboy for him instead?

Or better still, prove yourself an actual Spurs fan instead; one that didn't merely sign up a couple of weeks ago to white-knight for Jose.... Perhaps join in with some of the other many conversations about the club... We have a big game tonight or is that not on your radar at all?

The highlighted bit isn't actually his words though is it?

Look, it doesn't sound great, but the fact is he's an Italian manager returning home for a big CL cup tie in his home country; the line of questioning is always going to lead him to talking in such terms.... Few managers would answer any different.

Poch used to always talk about how flattering Madrid's interest was when asked.... He never left to join them though, did he?

Maybe Conte won't renew his deal in the summer; but there's no point letting prick journo's stir the pot.
