Agree with most of this, but the fact that Rafa largely just set up to stiffle us is no bad thing... It means we're already commanding more respect than we have done for some time.... Yet we still carved the clearer chances in the game.

I have a similar hunch about Bergwijn....... I think physically he totally has the goods..... Just a question whether he ca be successfully coached on the defensive end of things.
Is he good at crossing? I genuinely can’t remember.

They aren’t overpaid at all. They are paid relative to the worth of the industry they work in.

Everyone is a capitalist until it comes to footballers wages, it kills me.
I'm happy for almost everyone to get paid however much they can successfully demand.

It only pisses me off when they're getting paid a fucking king's ransom and yet can't be bothered to maintain their fitness.

Exactly! This was the big difference in the Everton game compared to previous games this season. There was a plan and that plan created a couple of really good chances that Reggie and Royal should have put away (or at least hit the target). With better fitness and better grasping of the tactics by the players we will see much more of that. Still early days, but positive signs after just a week.

He did say "very good considering it was week 1"........

I'd say it was miles apart from Nuno-ball..... Just look how many players we have in the final 3rd during the second half of that clip...... That's the aggression that people have been mourning since before Poch left.

Agree. Plus against Everton it was the furthest the team had run all season and also had a larger amount of sprints than under Nuno. Chalk and fucking cheese.

This is how we played under Poch when we finished 2nd in a 3-4-2-1. Walker and Rose bombed on. Ali and Eriksen in the pockets and Kane Upton. Mind you we did have prime wanyama and dembele in midfield that just ran over teams physically

I never understood why Poch gave up on that system. I think it was predominantly because of the emergence of Son. He should have found a way to get all the players in the side though because we were great with that until he inexplicably dropped it for the fucking diamond.

I'm fascinated about how all this is going to turn out, how long will it take for the penny to drop for the squad, which players are going to break through, which of the first eleven will drop out, will we get anyone in January or will it just be pre-signings for the summer...Fuck the results, those are the last things I'm worried about...

Give it a few weeks and I guarantee we will be starting to get the usual stories of unrest and it will be from certain players who aren’t in the team. It happened under both Mourinho and Nuno.

Absolutely cannot stand this Fabrizio fraud
You're going to love this then...some cunts chatting shit about Conte and Spurs...their knowledge about us doesn't extend much further than that we're bottle jobs and Levy doesn't spend anything...

I think there's a delicious irony that a Geordie can laugh at our lack of trophies...and that a Chelsea fan is actually backing us to succeed...

Things I like: Conte has two weeks to add structure and train the remaining squad. We should come out with even more of his ideas after the break.

Things I don’t like: we don’t play for 2 weeks. Intl breaks are dumb.

Really good analysis and one of the reasons I was tactically encouraged is that two of our better chances on Sunday fell to Reguilon and and Emerson.

While there’s rightly been a lot of discussion about getting more creativity from the midfield, I think it’s been under emphasized that in most of Conte’s teams the wingbacks are only behind the strikers in terms of goals and assists.

Generally more important in the final third than any of the midfielders. Though of course all of them contributing is the ideal.
