How can you call the games that you need to play to qualify for the WC meaningless? Playing in the WC is meaningful, but playing to qualify for it is meaningless? Winning the WC is the pinnacle of any footballer's career, but to do that they need to qualify for it first. It's like saying a game in the 3rd and 4th qualifying round of the CL is a meaningless game.
:contefacepalm2:
Edit: don't get me wrong, I hate the international breaks too, but they're not meaningless. Going away to play a bunch of friendlies is meaningless.
There should be 2 tiers of qualifying. Everyone know's it. How can the small weak nations ever improve when their only experience is getting tonked every time they play?
What does it achieve? Who get's anything other than meaningless caps? Grandson, I played for England for 10 minutes against Andorra and we won the game 8-0
Yes grandad, I'm so proud of you. You must have been one of the greats.
