I don't buy into the Conte hype train for one reason. He's unquestionably a great manager , but he's used to having the best squad in the league, one that maybe has fallen out with the previous manager and needs a kick up the hole to get going again. He's not a manager to improve mediocre into good or great, he's a "buy me the best and I'll give you a short return".

To me, the courting and failure to get Ten Hag will beone of our darkest days.

I think he fucked up a bit last night trusting these clowns who have produced this embarrassing shitshow of a performance on more than one occasion over the last 3 seasons. I always think go strong first get the job done then give people a game and antonio was wrong for that, but, any team that is one of the richest in the world and considered for a european super league should be able to muster an entire squad capable of comfortably progressing through a 3rd tier European competition. Complete mismanagement from the top to allow this to fester and not taking the correct decisions beforehand to stop this shit from continuing to happen. Tottenham hotspur is a football club first and foremost and if conte can't turn us into that then nobody can. I honestly think he's the right man but 18 months will be too soon and we will need him for atleast 3 years to truly sort this mess out.

If you can no trust professional Premier League players to play against the worst fucking ranked team in the competition (national league level) then when can you trust them?

You can't. This has been an ongoing scenario under 4 managers now there has to be a point where someone comes in and instead of going right clean slate you say I've seen what you've done over the last 3 years I don't trust you you won't play for me.

Ten Hag with this squad, under this board would have been an absolute disaster. Same with Potter, and Conte does improve players, Moses, Alonso, Lukaku, etc.

Tightrope?
I prefer the pragmatic managing people as if they might react negatively like humans do approach. Not the react emotionally because it feels better approach.

We have been trying to play this game when we pragmatically try to keep everyone on managers side. Not to call out players publicly etc.
It has not worked.

Time to try something different.

And even if half of the squad become squeaky bums, then so be it. Fuck them, and build future on those who are not fragile and overinflated in their self-esteem.

Offering another Neutral's perspective because I am thoroughly annoyed by the sheer patronising tone of the Barca lad.
I like Conte and I think he is one of the top 5 managers in the world right now. He will give every player a chance like Klopp did when he joined us and there'll be more than a few nights like this. I remember when Newcastle thumped us in one of Klopp's early games. Players will look tired and run out of gas late game because they havent had a tough pre season.
The current tottenham team is probably nearly as bad as the Liverpool team that he took over with a couple bright spots. This will take more than a couple seasons to improve because you cannot replace 7 starting XI players in one window.
There are a few more things that are positive for Spurs in that now they have a DoF so they are unlikely to buy players that Conte doesnt want. Edwards was promoted to DoF and transfer camaraderie improved significantly there.
The biggest challenge will be dependant on Paratici's ability to get the quality Conte expects within the budget constraints and with Conte being able to dictate the players that need to go out. It is far too important to clear out poor influences early in the regime and we had a lot of deadwood gone in the first summer including Allen, Benteke, Toure, Skrtel and Balotelli. Except Benteke, the rest sold for nothing. Levy MUST be prepared to take that hit because otherwise they cannot move on and that is not something a manager will compromise on. We couldnt sell Sakho but he was removed from the squad for his ill discipline and poor training. Conte will probably want Alli gone if he truly is a lazy trainer.
More than anything, the fans will need to be patient because this will be a long process and given the league level is much higher than 2015, it'll take time and there'll be runs of bad results/performances where he'll need backing. Managers like Conte that have this genuine enthusiasm and coaching nous for the sport are very rare and I hope he gets the support he deserves. I like Tottenham as a team and opponent and I'd have them getting some success over any of the other so-called big 6 rivals for us but remembering how it was for us when it began, I can only say that patience will be key in everything and the moment that runs out in any one facet, the thing will collapse.

I can't believe this squad of charlatans embarasses us again for about the hundredth time and some people are questioning Conte?

He's unquestionably an elite manager, it's the squad and those responsible for building it over the last 4 years that need to be getting the heat not Conte.

Only morons are questioning Conte. Don't worry about it

Finally a manager with balls to come out and say it as it is. The squad is not that good. The level isn't as high as the marketing suggests. Theres Kane, Son, Loris and maybe some potential prospects in the young ones and Tanguy. But the rest of the players are straight up midtable/bottom half quality at best. None of the defenders have any skill when it comes to 1on1s. Good teams have defenders that dominate on the pitch and oooze confidence. This lot is chasing balls....

Am I alone in thinking there’s a good chance Conte will be off in the very near future. Buyers remorse…or something along those lines…
These two are the living embodiment of the caveat emptor warning...

Yes.

Or at least, you're in the vast minority. Wise up. I'm not prepared to read supposed spurs fans shitting themselves that Conte might resign every time we fucking lose. So any future posts along those lines, the ignore button will be getting used.

Funny enough, as I was watching last night, I thought to myself that even Klopp (who I think is the top coach in world football) wouldn't get a tune out of the fucking muppets in this squad. Totally agree re. getting rid of the deadwood.

I hope our fans connect with Conte the way Liverpool's have with Klopp. I think there is a bit already, there is an overall feeling of gratitude that he has taken the job on.

Conte said before the game that he needed to give playing time to all the players and make his evaluations ahead of the January market. Well now he’s seen first hand how bad the attitude is for these second string players, the same guys who let us down against Norwich in the FA Cup, Zagreb last season, against Vitesse, Pacos, LASK and now Mura.

The older players like Sanchez, Ndombele, Doherty, Dele, the die is cast for them. They do not have any potential to improve and need to find new clubs. They do not play seriously when called upon. The younger players like Sess, Tanganga, Rodon, Gil, they were all shit last night but they at least have youth on their side and a potential to improve. Conte will probably focus on them and exile the others. This time Levy has to sell those exiled players and LISTEN TO THE MANAGER instead of living in his dream world where Dele can still score 20 goals a season.

Now Conte knows that there are certain players who absolutely must be on the pitch if we want to win a match. You can make at most 2 or 3 changes before the chance of winning heads towards zero percent.

He didn’t want to join us. He was desperate for the Man Utd job and when he realised they wanted a long term project, it dawned on him that he then had no other options.

I want a manager who wants to be here without demands for loads of new players just for his ego when in reality, Conte will be gone by this time next year. Again, quote me on that.
Get real pal. Any manager that comes in will want the same. Do you really think this is a good team?
