Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm not worried about their feelings. I'm worried that the players stop playing for him at all and we lose games heavily and his position becomes untenable. We cannot replace every player. At least not in one go. And we aren't even in December yet, let alone January.

That would be the dream scenario.

It will not be that all 23 will stop playing for him. But if 10 or 12 do, then it is perfect.
Those players lose any access to first team rooms at the spot and will be on fire sale from 01.01.2022.

We should have got rid of such utter wankers much-much earlier.

Until that time, we have U-23, U-21, U-18 and if needed U-16 teams where to take players from.

Im so fucking done with this tight-rope walking that you seem to prefer. We have done this for at least 3 years, and look where it has gotten us?!?

I really prefer things to explode, rather than to continue this current unevitable downward spiral. Just to keep some overrated shitheads "playing for him at all".

I'm not hitting any panic buttons just yet.

Whilst the whole world keeps saying we're favourites to win this competition, I think its a drain on limited resources.

9 changes last night. If our reserves aren't good enough to walk all over the lowest ranked team in all 3 European competitionsz then maybe we're best off out of it.
We can't keep flogging the first choice players on a Thursday and a Sunday. They're not fit enough and may never be.

The flight back will be jolly

Bet he let them at the snack trolley...

That all sounds good - my only "worry" is that it's a bit of ask to bring the four - the four that AC and FP want, not cut-price fob-offs - in January

I get it.
It will be difficult, not trying to hide it.

Just the question was "if 4-5 players are enough" and I answered to this.

But I hope we can pull something good off. Cause let's face it, 2 months ago, getting Conte felt like unrealistic dream.

I'm scared he'll walk away. Levy better buy whatever name he wants, this squad is fucking shit.
I just hope Antonio sticks it out, as I dread to think how far we'll fall if he walks away before Christmas.
Those comments worry me

I think he's realised the mistake in joining us

"I am happy to stay here" does not make me feel confident
I am genuinely worried he is going to leave.
Genuinely think Conte is already regretting coming here. We're a shambles, and will be while Levy remains.
I’m genuinely worried that Conte will decide to walk away from this shit show. He’s never been faced with such a bunch of misfits and such a lack of quality. What’s in it for him? Genuinely? We have to show him complete backing. From the terraces to the boardroom. He’s our only hope of getting back to a Top 6 side.

I was thinking the same thing you guys were...

And weird thing is... I could not even be mad at him, if he would say today that he will be leaving us for ManU.

Just look at the squad. It is a horror show. Enough of all the apologies about "getting used to tough league" and "having issues with motivation" - this season the very basic and underlying technical ability level of our squad is shit. Just straight up shit. Not good enough. I have been saying this for a while now, but people still come back with answers like... "but..but...Dele used to be good". Well but he ain't anymore. Right now we are in absolute mess, and if I would have been Conte, I would have never set my foot to Spurs.

Of course I hope he will help to turn this rot around. And will identify players that can be salvaged from this group. And I hope he does well for us. But as a club we are faced with so, so massive challenges.

If you had to pick two, who would it be?

I'd look at the creative attacking midfielder and the striker first I think, it's where we're weakest, with little (or no) cover.

Agree. I'd rather 2 or 3 youth players in the match day squad than some of those players last night. We lost, could the young guys do any worse?
Can't believe Doherty looked so poor after his amazing display against Luxembourg

same old names, same old shit. get the shit out ASAP...and people need to be held accountable for such poor signings .

But, Kane was free? Think Poch was accountable for a big chunk, but would like Hitchens gone, as a marker that there must be someone held to note, when we have zero significant hit since Son (?) really, not one you can say "well someone had an eye as we picked x up who stepped up 2-3 levels".

Honestly believe Harrys 'change' post summer is the key catalyst to this, the group used to look to this guy who was Tottenham, always 100% there, dedicated, needed pulling back rather than pushing on mostly, as his drive was soo fierce.

Now, we have a physical Lamb, who can't make runs against Mura (time and against last night, what at first looking like poor balls, were actually players seeing H in no area to be found...).

CM is a car crash making our issues 10x worse as we have some of the weakest ball playing CB's in the prem and scant outlet for them usually without a line breaking ball, or tight angle pass greeting a player marked tight on the run.

If the players are right, it is even more than enough.

I would say 4 players, if they would be
Quality CB
Quality passing CM
Quality AM
Quality striker

This would absolutely do wonders for us. I like Skipp and PEH, but we don't progress the ball fast enough and decisevly enough through the middle. Put there capable AM in Eriksen mould and capable CM in Kroos mould and everything about our team and play would be different.

I am not saying we would jump up to Liverpool level - no, it is not enough for that. But it would make us play significantly better.
Romagnoli (CB left foot) -> free agent
Brozovic -> free agent
Kulusevsky -> 35 M
Vlahovic -> 70 M

Listening to the interview i'm reading this another way.
  • He stated there was a change in coach because of other issues
  • He says just because he is a winning coach you can't expect the same thing immediately
  • He said he's not a magician so don't expect things to suddenly change
  • He said EVERYTHING needs to be changed and EVERYTHING needs to be better
  • He said there is a big gap between us and the big teams as they improve year on year
  • He said he knows, and knew the issues and is willing to work hard and he's not scared
  • He said it is going to take time and patience
For me the underlying thing here is a message to the fans saying "don't expect a quick fix, it's going to take much time and patience and it's not just a case of coaching the current squad but we need new players. I'm ready, i'm willing to work hard but it's not a quick fix"

He clearly doesn't want the fans and media hammering him and the squad after only 3 weeks. We're in no worse position than before but it's going to take time and investment.

It's clear that him, Fabio and Levy discussed this. I believe we're going to go into the transfer market in January and he's using this time to really get a grip of what he has. He will report back that a lot are shit and will need to go.

Lots of people are taking this as a warning message sent to Levy, I don't really see it that way. Lots of fans will be expecting him to turn things around with the squad he has. For sure he will improve them but there will still be a big void between the top teams without any investment.

I just worry the fans will be on everyone's backs every game and this will wear everyone down. Whilst clearly some players are a disgrace, booing has no positive impact. Conte is absorbing everything and will get rid of anyone who doesn't cut it.

Even under Mourinho until the very end, not all the players stopped playing for him. There are players who being dragged down by the dross of teammates, who want to protect their career and reputation.

Unlike Mourinho who came here after all the lowest point of his career, Conte came here right after he ended Juventus dominance. If something smell fuck up, everyone and their dogs know it's the players. This is the 4th manager in a calendar year. Unless it's a Gooner, nobody can be this blind.
Fuck off calling me a gooner you cunt. Go read what i said. I never said our players weren't shit. I never said Conte was wrong. I simply said publicly embarrassing the whole squad over their ability (not attitude) risks them downing tools.

Instead of calling me blind, you tell me how I am wrong.

Conte wont last 18 months. He’ll walk before then.

Doubt it, think he likes London and could be in a sweet spot, due to Levy knowing where the anger channels if he walks.

Probably hopes we trigger an extension, if we have legal right to, so he gets 2.5years at £15M guaranteed. End of the day, we can afford to back him it appears.

He is very savvy and will know we Levy are the Top FFP wiggle room title holders.

Really hope he's shouting at Levy this morning with his team "You cheating man, Daniel, you cheat, you said this Squad had rich untapped qualities, it is pond water. Give me £200M plus sales, and I want MANY SALES, you understand I must have the tools to create, at first a picture of my idea, these players are not even good enough for place holders or dot to fucking dot!!!".

Some shit like that.

I think Conte is spot on in everything he said yesterday. I hope our fans don't get on his back. This thing is going to take plenty of time, as he said.

We'll know more about how prepared that bald snake cunt is to fix things properly, by the end of the Jan transfer window.

In the meantime, we have to stay patient (with Conte). There's players last night that I hope never pull on the spurs shirt again.

I think we are all just very insecure after the last few years. Conte is not an idiot, he would have known how shit a lot of the squad are. Walking away so soon from a job because the team aren't good would damage his reputation. Just needs some time to sift out the duds

Tough. It's not as if they're any good anyway! It's about time these overpaid pricks got told. Anyone who doesnt like it, or is too much of a little bitch to deal with criticism, can fuck off. And I hope Conte kicks the fucking shit out of them on their way out. I'd certainly like to spark a couple out - especially that fucking ponce, Dele Fuckwit Alli. I would like to pull his braids out and beat him half to death with them, the little fucking turd.

While this is a risk, I think we have tried the "nicey-nicey" approach with the last couple of managers, even Mouse seemed to have an arm around the players alot. And he is saying as a squad they need to improve not individuals, (although I think we all know who they would be). I am open for this stern approach because from what I can see they need a rocket up their ass.
The problem is he isn’t criticising their application where you might expect said ricket to get them to raise their game. rather he is saying these players are limited footballers. I hope it is a clever trick to get them to prove him wrong but I dont think it is because Conte knows what we know, that they really are limited footballers and you cant polish a turd.

I am all behind getting rid of most the squad. But it is November, I would not be saying what he said publicly at this stage.

Conte knows more than you to be fair. I think as a proven world class manager, he can say what he bloody well likes.

The job on is massive will a few years I think every season fans come on and predict all the bums getting sold off it never happens these guys are on good contracts and will not budge because the only clubs who might be interested are even worse than us and won't pony up the money .Levy can't just buy out a load of contracts it's not practical so we are stuck with guys who will never get us near the top a long road ahead again I am afraid .

Yeah but the window is shut mate, we can’t get rid yet. There are 10 games left to play, the 11th is played the day the window opens.
