Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I really want to know how much of this PSG talk would be occurring if Poch wasn’t their manager and recently said we were special to him.

The press obviously want Conte to go, Poch to come back (and likely fail) so they can continue the narrative of us being Spursy.
Yeah. On some level they want the old status quo. They want us in the top 4 mix playing fun football, but in their minds not being a serious threat to actually win anything.

If/when Poch comes back I hope that he has become cynical enough to value the cups more than he did in his first stint. Playing well in the league and winning a few cups would be a step forward that I think that all fans could be happy with, no matter who is the coach.

Definitely. In the past 20 years or so, we've that flair team who played great football but never good enough to truly challenge for anything. That's what they love though, isn't it? Being able to say "Oh Spurs, coming in third in a two-horse race", "Softspurs", etc.

That's why I just want us to get a couple of trophies - for myself and us fans who've not seen one in the longest time, but to hopefully shut up the damn media that we're just half-way men.

But I guarantee you this, if we win a cup next season and do well in the table with Conte, it'll be that the other team "had injuries, VAR decisions go against them", all the typical excuses they afford other teams. And they'll be some article about the "freak win/luck" of Spurs.

Anyway, I'm starting to rant now but I'd say to anyone getting wound up by Conte, to really read these articles pumped with a grain of salt.

It really looks as if all of the UK press wants Conte to leave Spurs

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte 'in discussions' with PSG as contract clause emerges

TOTTENHAM appointed Antonio Conte as their boss in November.

¨Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is apparently in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over the prospect of taking charge at the Parc des Princes. And it has emerged that the Italian has a clause in his Spurs contract to leave the club in the summer.

Conte is regarded as one of the best managers in world football and has enjoyed successful spells with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan. He was appointed Spurs boss last November following the Lilywhites’ sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo, who lasted just four months at the helm.

And Conte has since been focusing his attentions on helping Spurs secure a top-four Premier League finish. But, according to Calciomercato, Conte has now begun negotiations with PSG. And it appears his contract will allow him to walk away from Spurs at the end of the season if he opts for a move to France.

Conte is said to be tempted by the offer of a fresh challenge in Paris and would no doubt be handed prodigious sums of cash to build whatever squad he desires across the channel. PSG are one of the richest clubs in the world and their owners would likely be more than happy to back Conte by sanctioning mega-money transfer deals and substantial player wages.

Tottenham will try to persuade the 52-year-old to stay in north London as he has overseen an upturn in performances during his brief time at the helm. But they could face a huge battle to keep him if they don’t qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Spurs are part of the chasing pack looking to cement fourth spot in the Premier League table come May. But their hopes were dealt a major blow last weekend as they were defeated 3-2 by top-four rivals Manchester United.

Last summer, Conte left Inter just weeks after leading the club to their first Serie A title in 11 years. And Spurs chiefs will be hoping they don’t become the second club in less than a year to lose the star manager after he committed his future to the Lilywhites just days ago.

“For sure at the moment there is only one truth - I am committed to this club for another year,” Conte said at the end of last week. “After four months I think the club have understood the way I want to work and I understand the club.

“We have three more months till the end of the season to continue to improve our knowledge of each other and then to find the best solution for both. I can tell you that I am enjoying working for this club and I would like to fight for something important for this club.”
Wouldn’t be surprised if we secure funding and Tony still walks. Can see another disrupted summer for us and fuelled as already called out by the scum media desperate for us to fail and not have nice things.

Keep seeing people posting in here about how Conte should stop saying certain things, I then go and listen to the actual press conference and scratch my head as to what it is exactly they are referring to? Do us a favour and stop replying in here to sensationalist headlines.

Same people who aren't afraid to call out the board on here, no doubt.

The season ending and summer can't come soon enough.

We'll definitely know by 22/23 what things are like for the team and Conte. But seeing knee-jerk reactions of "Oh no, Conte is leaving us!!!11!!!" is ridiculous.

Just because there's prior - albeit due to different circumstances, doesn't mean he'll walk just because we've not suddenly cemented 4th spot with a 9-point lead and winning every game 10-0.

I will say this. The journos may be spinning this in new ways every week. But I am getting bored with Conte entertaining the questions week in and week out.

He's not though is he. He answers a question generally and they take a single sentence out of it and make it a story. They will keep doing it. The only way for it to stop is for him to stop giving interviews and press conferences. He said absolutely nothing wrong in these quotes at all and they don't suggest he wants to leave one bit.

Last week they were reporting how much he likes it and wants to stay another season at least FFS. Surely people cant have forgotten that already?

And if he decides to stop giving interviews/press conferences because he's tired of the way the media portray his quotes, they will claim he's unhappy at Spurs and wants out.

He can't really win here as the media control the narrative on everything, sport or otherwise.

After last night's success against Brighton, Tottenham coach Antonio Conte also focused on the impact of the new Spurs signings Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, both of whom arrived from Juventus in January: "To see both Bentancur and Kulusevski enter the team and in our idea of football so fast is fantastic. We needed a player like Bentancur and Kulusevski is proving to be an exceptional prospect. He is 22 years old but he is physically strong, he has excellent technique, he is talented and he is helping us a lot. "

Would hate to think where we would be without them pair, such a positive impact on the team compared to Dele, GLC and n'donkey.
