I mean, as long as Levy backs him and he doesn't lose the dressing room with his insane training methods and schedule, there is no reason why he would leave anytime soon. Winning a few trophies or, absent trophies, putting the team on a trajectory to challenge for the title in the next couple of years, should ensure that Levy and the players will continue to be on board. Provided this support is there, Conte is not going to quit Spurs until he has won something big. It's just not who he is.

Like I've said - he'll sign an extention.

Clearly, his intention.

For his first summer window, this is decent/good.

I expected a more established (in quality) RWB and LCB(still in the works?) tbh, but, all-in-all (especially if you include bents and kulu), Conte has begun crucial surgery on this squad.

Fully expect the last signing of the season to be his (2 more seasons after this).

What's important, as a club, is we never turn back from where he takes us (if not trophy-wise, then personnel-wise), when he's done here.

All the idiot clubs out there with their busted fans, never really had a reason to hate us; but now they do.

I'm loving it.

This is key. The club needs to develop a philosophy that it sticks with and if it's Conte's philosophy, even better. It doesn't necessarily need to be a specific playing style; these change throughout the years. But it should have at a minimum the following, regardless of who the manager is:
  • a resident conditioning coach that will ensure peak fitness
  • technical coaches that will work on player weaknesses
  • specialist coaches for all positions that will work with players to improve them in their area of the pitch
  • outstanding scouting and data analytics to identify prospects and perform thorough due diligence on signings
The above will ensure that any manager that comes in will find well-drilled, super fit players of good character. The manager can then set up the way the team plays on top of that and the resident coaches should assist in working with the players to tweak them to better fit into the system. But at least the core foundations will be there.

Hopefully; a long-term DOF with a coherent vision should help ensure this and prevent the club being blown about in the strategic 'breeze' like it was between, Redknapp, AVB, Poch, Jose, Baldini, Mitchel & Hitchin.

Absolutely love Antonio.

But anyone else find his press conferences incredibly boring? Seems to just auto repeat the line "we want to achieve something important" or " he needs time to understand our idea of football."

Again no pelters please. He can't be bothered with the media and that's fine - love the geezer.

It’s probably in his contract that he has to do press interviews even though he obviously thinks that they’re a waste of time

I'd watch him read the 1983 yellow pages. I find him a bit hypnotic. Like yeah it's boring but there's the potential for him to do something mental at any moment..

Classic "boring presser=good presser" tactics + lack of sufficient language skills - it's very hard to become proficient at a new language at 50, especially if you're a person that only has one passion and focuses on it completely like Conte.

He'd probably be a lot more articulate in Italian but the substance of what he says would still be the same and he'd still repeat himself at every press conference - unless something out of the ordinary happened.

To be honest, given some of the questions the media ask at times I wouldn’t be surprised if all managers get fed up with doing them.

Also, English isn’t his first language and quite often when he speaks it can be broken. Maybe he finds it hard to truly articulate himself in a language which isn’t native to him

For most coaches, pressers are a chore they are contractually obliged to do.

When Conte is angered by something - eg Klopp criticizing our tactics, Nagelsmann & Kahn talking about buying our CF - then he will be animated and make his point clearly & forcefully.

One of the consequences of rolling sports news channels & social media, which need constant new content, is that relatively trivial events such as routine pressers are given greater significance than they deserve.

Indeed, sometimes fans (of all clubs) analyse the comments of a coach as if they're Biblical prophesy. When in reality they're probably the throwaway line of a guy who'd rather be prepping the team for the next match, speaking in a language which is not his mother tongue.

As & when Conte wants to send a message, he does so. As chavski's Diego Costa found out when Conte fired him by text.....

-------------------------
  • Conte texts players wishing them a good holiday and telling them to stay fit.
  • Costa sends a jokey reply back.
  • Conte responds by saying: "Hi Diego, I hope you are well. Thanks for the season we spent together. Good luck for the next year but you are not in my plan."
  • Costa shows exchange to fellow players.
Details emerge of Conte's text to Costa

Poch was no different.... Just different go-to phrases.....

"Iz Football"

"We work for the right to complete for big things"

Every question about an individual dodged in favour of talking about the collective.

Nuno was the same too; but peeps prefered to call him rude, obnoxious etc. because they thought he was shit.
