Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No but it is inadvertently planting a seed in some people’s minds that the reason why we look so appalling disjointed and lethargic might be because Conte is going to get us super fit after the World Cup and I just can’t see it
Then just say "I just can't see it". That would be fair.

It's a theory, that's all it is. It's been put out there because as far as anyone can see there are no issues with Conte and the players, everything coming out of the club is positive in the camp. The players are glowing about him and this has been reciprocated by Conte. It's been suggested because absolutely no one can pinpoint the difference between us at the backend of last season to this season. Given that he had the benefit of a pre-season this term, and has a squad that knows what he wants from them tactically, had new signings that he wanted AND got them in for pre-season training as opposed to the last day in the window, it's fair to say everyone was expecting a bit more this year, an improvement.

Perhaps we have improved??? We've taken points from teams we dropped points against last term??? (took a point at chavs from a loss last season, beat Southampton after losing last year, beat Wolves having lost last year, drew at West Ham having lost last year, that's 8 pts better off this year to last with corresponding games). I know it doesn't feel like it because all bar a couple of games, we are ugly as shit.

I'm sure Man Utd's fans were proud when they were 4-0 down at half time against City a few weeks ago.

......And of course, getting your arse handed to you 4-0 away to Brentford doesn't count either cos they're not "big 6".

Just wondering how losing at home to Brighton fits into the equation (i.e. gets glossed over) too....?

Losing at home to Real Sociadad?

I did do at the end of my post but thanks for correcting me

:adesalute:

I am not saying he has a deeper agenda, I am just saying it’s bullshit

You have no insight as to whether it's true or not.

Maybe it is true; maybe it isn't....?

If true, maybe it pays off; maybe it doesn't....?

....The latter is all that matters; not whether or not it plants an excuse in the minds of a few forum posters(*).

(*Which I though was your initial beef here....?)

Wasn’t meaning to single out the posters on just this forum. I was meaning the wider football world as the post went out on Twitter. Anyway enough as this discussion is now almost as boring as our football at the moment!

Just goes to show how tough matches are nowadays, there are no easy games and you can easily lose a game of football away from home and at home.

Why does our really good home form under Conte never get mentioned????

Losing 6-3. :freundgoal:

...It was 4-0 at HT FFS!

....6-1 at 83 minutes.

They were nothing more than consolation goals. There was NO "comeback".

I'd still rather have lost the way United did than the way we did. They were naive and got overpowered by a simply brilliant team, we were limp & got dominated by a meh team who are in the early phases of their project.

Not for me...... They were utterly humiliated.

If we'd have scabbed a 1-0 or even a 1-1 last night I doubt there'd have been too much grumbling.

We didn't though .. and that was never more than a pipedream. We lost 2-0 & it should've been more, our keeper was our MOTM by a country mile. We lose 4-0 and is it a fair representation of the game? I'd say so, yeah.

Got battered. At half-time we managed to escape with our lives and I pondered how amusing a smash & grab would be but at any point after that we weren't even in the game.

Probably. But City are really good, United aren't. We got played with by a mediocre team who 5 minutes ago were getting brutalised by Brentford.

It was humiliating for the squad & for the manager. Awful performance.
yeah I agree that it was not a good night last night. 2-0 move on.

Would you be glad that we attempted attacking football away to Woolwich but were 4-0 down at half time and 6-1 after 83mins?

Just not enough cash to show ambition against the biggest clubs. Poor little Tottenham again. Two absolute smashers. We got Joe Rodon and fucking Lo Celso instead.

Next window we'll show 'em. The cash will flow once we secure the naming rights deal etc.

🙄

And it doesn’t look like changing anytime soon

I'd be happier than I was after the United game. Which was not only angry but incredibly bored of watching my team play.

Obviously I wouldn't be pleased. But I'd rather get smashed giving it a go than lose 2-0 having done absolutely nothing and only managing a less embarassing scoreline because of the keeper.
