Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What I'm saying is that ''We shall focus on the recruitment of a new Head Coach. We are acutely aware of the need to select someone whose values reflect those of our great Club and return to playing football with the style for which we are known – free-flowing, attacking and entertaining – whilst continuing to embrace our desire to see young players flourish from our Academy alongside experienced talent.''

Hasn't occurred.

We're still playing the same football that we played with Jose as manager.

Meh... You're stopping short of conclusively stating an opinion.

Perhaps you didn't ever want to sign Conte; in which case touche, but he's here now and done a lot of good so far.

Levy has a decision to make: Do we offer Conte a new contract?

Do you think he should or not?

Our best 2 players Kane & Son aren't that good any more
Kane's got 10 goals already and some of his passing yesterday was beautiful. If it wasn't for Robobastard at City, he'd be leading the pack.

Sonny won the golden boot a few months back. Yeah, he's off-balance at the moment, but other top players like Salah have had their weird spells as well.

They're two of the top-rated players on the planet. Keep the faith.

IMO we need to replace Kane, Son, Davies. Dier, Sanchez, Lloris. Royal, Doherty Sess.

Kane doesn't press anymore and lots of his goals are from penalties/set pieces.

You want to sell Kane simply for the fact that he doesn't press?

But they're not pressing or winning enough balls upfield.

Yes Kane is still good at passing but his goals are from penalties or other set pieces.

When did we last score in the PL from open play?

No we don't. We need a modern, progressive manager with new ideas. We've had to endure Mourinho and now Conte for too long. I don't include Nuno in that because he wasn't give much time to prove anything.

I think we should hire Jorge Sampaoli. Just until the summer, which gives us time to focus on a young, ambitious project manager who can bring through youth and play modern football - not the dross which Conte serves up.

Sampaoli plays high energy, high pressing football. Not Conte-ball "5 men behind the ball and hit it up to Harry".
My history of posts will testify that I've never been a total fan of Conte ball. I much prefer a manager who has his team playing with the ball and presses high (there are numerous variations of this and the list of managers who adopt this are numerous - not all of them proven, some of them pretenders, others are elite).

But Conte is elite and we have to allow him to build his team and have it playing how he wants. He is a million miles away from Mourinho, Mourinho is a has been, whilst Conte is current. There should be no comparison. But just to underscore, when Conte ball is working it's not hoofball, it's really nice to watch (still not my preference) as it's played through the thirds of the pitch from back to front. But perhaps an even bigger impact on his teams is what he brings off the pitch, the stuff we don't see every day, the structure of the club that deliver the players to the pitch (training, fitness, nutrition, demands on recruitment etc). I like the profile of players that we've brought into the Club since he's been here, the fact that a few of them haven't played yet is what happens with him, players only get selected to play once he's confident they have his patterns understood (or are better than other to deliver what he requires).

I'm also not worried if he leaves as I still like the players that we've brought in (under the dinosaur he was busy signing Toby no leggs to a new multi-year contract with massive wages and bringing in Gedson, Lo Celso, Doherty, Reguillon (who I was quite keen on before he started playing), Rodon, Joe Hart, Bale & Vinicius, Bergwijn (who I liked but we can't claim was successful). The only success was PEH). Most of Conte's old sides didn't drop off when he left, they continued well under new management. We've also bought in some exciting young talent too that if Conte were to leave (I absolutely don't see this happening) I think would suit a progressive new coach.

Conte has done a fantastic job so far, he's had a big transformation on where we are. This season has been disappointing because of how we've played in some games, I think there was an expectation that as we finished so well last season that there will be a straight-line improvement from there (there absolutely hasn't been) but football doesn't work like that and this season unlike any other is going to be the strangest one we've ever experienced because the is a bloody World Cup smack bang in the middle of it.

Kane is scoring at a good rate. But his overall game, particularly off the ball, is worse. He's completely unable to press consistently and Son is not much better. Which makes us unable to play on the front foot when in defense.

They are great. But it is obvious that they have dipped in certain aspects of their game.

Set piece goals don't count?

Being a so-called penalty "specialist" is also a skill; not a negative.

He's still able to create and play-make better than the majority of STs currently in the game.

Should the intent be to constantly evolve and improve the squad...? Absolutely.

However; Kane is current good enough.

Let's face it, Conte was brought in to save us from the horrendous decision to hire Nuno.

He's not a long term manager for us so why not hold Levy to his statement in the programme that day?

We are of no threat during open play unless we're playing a bottom half of the league team. It's only against Brighton that we have beaten anyone near the top.

Many of the matches that we won, or drew also, we looked second best and had a lucky result.

I don't think Harry's ever been an uber-presser. He's ok at running at goalies, but for as long as I can remember he mainly jogs around looking to narrow angles and waiting to receive, hold and turn, earn a foul, or play it on to other attackers. I'd like it if he was a bit more aggressive but I'll settle for his passing and goal tally.

Sonny presses, but mainly to force the oppo to make a duff pass. He barely ever wins the ball. Actually, my head jolted the other day when he did just that because it's so rare.

Rubbish..... We tried to hire Conte in the summer.... Before Nuno came into the picture.

Nuno was the 'short-term' hire cos our targets (Nagglesman, Conte, Potter, ETH) dried up.

Yes and Son too, unless we change Kane into ATM player.

Not pressing is just giving the opposition time to pick their passes and modes of play.

We're not a high pressing team though?

Seems a bit pointless wanting to get rid of a player if we don't need him to do something that isn't required of him.

Also he's on par with other top players for pressing:

I was happy when Conte arrived but have always thought it's a short term arrangement.

I am unhappy about the way he has us passing the ball about at the back, it's always a heart in a mouth situation or i'm peeping between my fingers at it.

Conte did steady the ship last season and the signings of Kulusevski and bentancur were both good.

But just look how we're currently playing, we're like rabbits caught in headlamps. It seems to me that being 3rd is flattering us.

Do you not want to hold Levy to his statement about free flowing attacking football, I can only guess that you've been applauding our recent games and footballing style?
