A club needs some stability.
Would a player give 100% for a manager that's refusing to sign a new contract ?
Likewise, a player wouldn't be giving 100%, risking an injury, if he's leaving on a free.
A club won't invest heavily in players for a manager thats not going to be there in 12 months.
Yet we did that in the summer. I don’t know what the answer is. But more worryingly I don’t think Levy et al do either. I suspect they want him to commit to longer but know they don’t have the financial determination to keep him happy without dipping into their own pockets, which they can’t/won’t do. I am interested to see the financials though asap. Sure we had covid losses like everyone else but the stadium is a goldmine now and going forward to give the manager as much money (on top of the tv cash) that he should need to build a good team.
