Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not for me.

A club needs some stability.
Would a player give 100% for a manager that's refusing to sign a new contract ?🤷🤷

Likewise, a player wouldn't be giving 100%, risking an injury, if he's leaving on a free.

A club won't invest heavily in players for a manager thats not going to be there in 12 months.

Yet we did that in the summer. I don’t know what the answer is. But more worryingly I don’t think Levy et al do either. I suspect they want him to commit to longer but know they don’t have the financial determination to keep him happy without dipping into their own pockets, which they can’t/won’t do. I am interested to see the financials though asap. Sure we had covid losses like everyone else but the stadium is a goldmine now and going forward to give the manager as much money (on top of the tv cash) that he should need to build a good team.

Announce Poch..(groan)

Tottenham's attempts to tie down Italian manager Antonio Conte before the Premier League resumes next week look set to fail despite offering their Italian manager a £1m-a-year pay rise. (Mail)

Until he signs a contract Conte has leverage to get the organization to back him with good players. Once he signs the contract he has to trust it will happen. If I were in Conte's position there is no way I sign a contract until after this upcoming transfer window.

Absolutely. And also if the board are now trying to play their hand is that they aren’t sure on Conte because he isn’t playing young players they really have zero leverage because they hired him and it was no secret that he’s not a coach that gives development opportunities.unless a player is ready.
It’s very unlikely Conte made any promise to do so before signing either..

Have to admit though pointless having an academy or investing into it if conte dont at least look at it.

He’s spoken about Scarlett in glowing terms. Wouldn’t be a shock to see him in the mix in the next 2 years but agreed, feel like even Spence, Sarr and Gil could have seen more minutes but he’s only playing young guys if they know how to play the way he wants.

If the club wanted a manager to take a chance on youngsters, they don’t have the right man. The whole idea of Conte is to win. Which is why it’s strange that they would start wiping their feet when he’s got them back to within reach of winning…

Whilst we should be on Levy to back the manager, I think it is also worth taking the view that if Conte walks then it looks pretty bad on him too. Sure managers have to be backed but if he leaves then he is showing that he cant hack it at a club unless he gets it all his own way. It is fucking hard to do well with a club like us, maybe he needs to prove his worth too rather than running off to an easier job. On that front there hardly seems a myriad of options open to him should he leave.

Conte has been very clear throughout his career that he will only work with clubs that match his ambition. He has walked out on much bigger and more successful clubs than Tottenham for this reason and it has not harmed his reputation at all. Any top club would take him. It is a miracle that a manager of his stature is working for Levy in the first place.

My attitude is exactly the same as Conte (and Poch). What was the point of building this amazing stadium if the players on the pitch are not of the same standard? I don't pay £1500 a season so that I can watch players like Emerson and Lenglet. There is no point offering Conte mega money to stay if he's not going to get better players to work with.

Sure this is a friendly but we have seen this against City and Liverpool. Argentina played like this and won the WC...
Such a shame that the only style of football that anyone thinks is "good" is the City and Woolwich style of press and short pass to keep possession. Just results in different shades of copying it from smaller teams as well, then pundits and fans that think that anything other than 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 is defensive football.

The vast majority of teams didnt play a high press in the World Cup yet people praised the quality and entertainment for the most part but when it comes to Spurs oh no the football is defensive and boring do me a favour lol

Personally, I love quick, efficient, direct, clinical football..... Some of our play last season gave me the fackin' 'orn!

If we can re-find that mojo, I'll be as happy as that bloke they call Larry.

It was a bit reserved and measured so far this season but I’m certain that was intentional and it was anything but boring from Feb to May. I prefer fast attacking counters to be honest, and it’s night and day from Jose’s unstructured awful plan
