Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In Ali Gold’s latest video, he dropped a line saying something along of the lines of the board think they’re doing a great job and there’s a lot of back patting
I wonder if he meant 'stabbing' cos I'm getting Roman vibes from all this shit.

A/ Back Conte and spend a fuck load and get him what's needed. Make big statement signings. Get them in quickly and no low-balling to the final day.

B/ Get Poch or someone of his nature and begin a proper project with clear objectives built with players who don't cost the earth but are hungry to prove themselves (which prob means shifting the old guard of Son, Kane, Dier and Davies on - no building teams around a superstar).

But have a direction. Make watching us fun again. Please. A couple of months joy last season from the past four years is not enough.

Is this someone at the club leaking to sway opinion against Conte? Or is Conte finding new ways of asking to be removed?

Either way, the one thing we're not doing wrong by Conte is his wages. Sure, I can understand he needs assurances around the transfers and squad but I'm not sure he should be expecting a significant bump from £15m a year. Maybe that's just me.

If true, he's got to be taking the piss.

Let's just be honest - he doesn't particularly want to be here. I don't exactly blame him considering who he works under but still...

Either do the job properly, or fuck off.

I really don’t think it’s true.

The club is probably leaking bullshit rumours to make him seem more unreasonable than he actually is, with a view to replacing him in the next few weeks.

However much I love Poch and what he did for us I'm not sold on the idea. Great manager but he didn't win anything with us before for various reasons. Yeah the football would be better but I'm sure that novelty would wear off when we're struggling to break down Sheff Utd at home next season.

Having said that I would 100% support him but I dunno just can't see it working out.

It doesn’t matter who the manager is, the same problems are going to keep happening

The board most likely try to run the footballing operation the same way that they run the business side. That's the only reason that I can think that they believe that they are doing a good job.

As in, they have invested in players and view them as assets to grow. And a manager meant to do that.

That would work had they bought a building or a production company or such. But sports don't operate like that.

Yep totally.

The worst thing about all this is we aren't a million miles away from having a very good first 11 but we just never seem to just commit to it. Every person who supports Spurs can see we need 2 new defenders and a RWB but the club just won't commit to it. Maybe they might get a couple in this window, after all we did sign two great players last January so I don't lose all faith. Unfortunately time is on no ones side anymore in football.

Conte is a better manager than Poch so just bloody back the guy just abit more.

Get Poch in and like you quite rightly say, the same players are gonna get the same old chances.

Next season is going to be fucking brutal.

:myword:
and Woolwich will be challenging for the league, alongside man utd with Kane.

If Poch comes back I actually think next season will actually be ok, but the seasons after that won't be. I'd rather a couple bad seasons if it means we'll build for long term success. That's why I want an up and coming manager like Carrick who can build and grow with us to the elite level. Poch has reached his ceiling, he's not getting any better and we'll be stagnant with him.

Well then that’s the only place fans can hit the owners and board. Their pockets.

Won’t happen but boycotting games will certainly get their attention

Good read.

ANTONIO CONTE, TOTTENHAM AND THE FORBIDDEN BLUE DICE – THE WARM-UP

It was a historic day at Eurosport HQ on Monday as not a single football story featured in our top 20 articles overnight with the Australian Open in full swing (seriously, go check that out on discovery+ now… Andy Murray is probably in a fifth set somewhere). With the world of football somewhat sleepy, where better to turn our morning gaze than Tottenham Hotspur who, predictably, are in a muddle.

THE CHELSEA-SPURS CONNECTION

If at first you don’t succeed, keep appointing former Chelsea managers until you do. Tottenham have reached for the forbidden blue dice on three occasions in the past 11 years and rolled in the eras of Andre Villas-Boas, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. Total trophies won in that period: well, you already know.

Now a new report in the Mail suggests Conte’s position is “increasingly uncertain” and that it would be “self-defeating” for Spurs to trigger a one-year extension “if their visions for the club are not aligned”. Which sounds awfully ominous.

It's started to dawn on Tottenham fans in recent weeks that regardless of who is in the dugout, their hunt for a proper trophy in modern times is probably never going to end. There’s only so many times they can be told “but Conte is a proven winner” before the evidence before their eyes takes priority. Spurs ruin good people. Even Conte seems powerless to stop it after the horrible 2-0 defeat to Woolwich on Sunday.

If we assume, as we definitely should, that Spurs will never win the Premier League or Champions League – the two trophies that matter – then why not have some fun? After all, we’re now in an age of UAE-backed Manchester City, Saudi-backed Newcastle and VAR-backed Manchester United. It’s just not going to happen for them unless they lure a Middle Eastern giant. And even then, they would conspire to spend £150 million on the next Grzegorz Rasiak.

Spurs were once an extremely likable club that always fell short. What happened to the chaos of the Martin Jol era? The “go out there and enjoy yourselves, lads” vision of Harry Redknapp? The generation-defining ideas of Tactics Tim? Even Mauricio Pochettino stayed true to that wisdom, coming closer than any modern manager but still delivering what all Spurs fans have grown to love: nothing.

But since Poch was booted out so a documentary series could have an opening scene, Spurs have lost their way. And for what? A slightly increased chance of winning a domestic cup and pathetic changing room 'bust-ups'?

That forbidden blue dice will surely be calling out to Daniel Levy once more. Dare he roll it again and land on Thomas Tuchel? He is surely the best available option to fix this mess – but then so too were Villas-Boas, Mourinho and Conte. Alright, just Mourinho and Conte.

But given Spurs fans just want to be happy, and a major trophy will forever elude them, why not just get on the blower to Pochettino and fail gloriously again?

What I took from that.....

"Spurs were once an extremely likable club that always fell short"..... People - esp. The media - dislike us when they're required to take us seriously.

And

"Poch was booted out so a documentary series could have an opening scene"..... This article was not written out of concern for Spurs.

Boycott the concessions, don’t buy the beer, the sausage rolls etc or anything from the club shop
Go to the game, most already paid so why be out of pocket or for some lose a fleeting opportunity to support in person

Highly likely and whilst there are managers i'd prefer to Poch if thats what they're going to do just get the fuck on with it and do it now. Gives us 2 weeks to add a couple of Poch type players and gives him half a season to sort through this mess and work out what to do in the summer.

I don’t want this as an out though. Getting Poch back should not be accepted as getting the fans off ENIC’s back. Happy to cheer for Poch in the stands but as for the owners they can bugger off.
