Doubtful. Playing some of the worst football in the league with dreadful results as well was never going to be tolerated regardless of where they're at. The fact they're playing some of the best stuff and are top is just salt in the wound.
I dunno why you say 'if people just watched games' when if anything we look better on the surface (league position wise) than we do when you watch us play. From just watching us play you'd assume we were a bottom half team.

Nuno was rightly pelted for the away fixture last season. Conte has oversaw two abject and passionless performances v then this season. Also chavs last season he declared even before the semi final draw. Why doesn’t he get the sane vitriol as Nuno?
When you think about it, it really is quite incredible that Levy, the chairman of a multi million pound business, has managed to sneak past 20 years without ever having to explain some of the outright bewildering decisions he’s made with regards to the club in that time frame.
The only pathetic “explanations” he’s ever mustered are pre recorded, pre prepared interviews he’s done with club media, AFAIK, or those stupid half arsed 2 line statements that appear on the website every now and again.
I’d love to genuinely know for example what his rationale was for sacking Martin Jol at half time? For signing Frazer Campbell on loan? For the Stratford fiasco? For signing Nelson and Saha? For hiring Tim Sherwood? For failing to sign a single player for 2 transfer windows under the best manager we’ve had in decades? For the Super League fiasco? Hiring Jose Mourinho when every man and his dog who had an ounce of knowledge knew it was a terrible idea? For sacking Mourinho 5 days before a cup final and appointing a rookie intern in his place? For furloughing our staff? For taking 70 days to appoint a replacement for Mourinho only to get our 7th(!) choice target? For appointing Antonio Conte only to continue to act like West Ham in the transfer market. Why have we had 4 managers in the last 4 seasons, all of which are completely different in philosophy and play style?
That’s only a handful of quite simply shocking decisions made by Daniel Levy that he has never truly explained or given any real insight as to why. I’m sure there are many other examples.
If he was the chairman of any business other than a football club he’d have been hauled out to explain some for them and quite frankly he probably would have been booted out long long ago from said business.

Conte has no leverage at all to discuss an improved contract. We brought players in for him in the summer and he owes us. The last time I checked, managers sink or swim by their results and Conte's have been appalling. If any other manager had lost 3-0 on aggregate to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and lost both home and away to Woolwich, he would be history by now. You can't turn in results like that and expect to survive as a Tottenham manager.

I don’t agree. I think it has a huge baring. If we suddenly start knocking it about and play some wonderful stuff they’d still be ahead of us and that would still annoy as much as it does now.
We all just need to hold our nerve. Fans, players, Conte & levy. Get through the next few tough fixtures as well as we can and go from there. Football is a strange game. I doubt we will beat city once or even twice but we are their bogey team and we just don’t know yet.

There was an element of truth in all of that in 2001. It becomes less and less true every year, and Levy has become the dinosaur he once laughed at. That arrogance, contempt, and lack of self-awareness does not make for an effective public communicator.
