Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Understand where people are at with Conte, but I don't think he's leaving in the next few weeks. Figure he'll stick out the season and we'll show some pulse again before the season is out, hopefully a run in one of the cup competitions.

I'm not against him getting the time, but if he wants 4 windows he ought to extend his contract 2 seasons beyond the 4th window. There's no reason to expect the club to purchase players specifically tailored to the system and desires of a manager who isn't going to commit to the club.
Agree with that and the initial 18 month contract was strange and showed a lack of commitment on both sides to my mind.

Seems like a chicken and egg scenario now, will he commit if he's backed and will the club back him if they're unsure he'll commit? It's a bad situation to be in. Outside of the WB vs FB position, getting better players than we have is still a good thing though and he won't take any work shy fops so future managers should be able to work with them.

I’ve posted before that the fa cup and this season’s champions league should probably be the priority
That FA cup is winnable. I want to see some silverware.

It really fucks me off that a so-called big club cannot be bothered to go all out to win a trophy because they consider it beneath them. One trophy in however many years is a travesty.

This is the nub of the argument. Commit to spurs and I'll back conte all thr way. Play games with spurs well he can fuck off.

It's obvious to everyone (including the players) that Conte won't be here past the end of this season.

Levy now needs to decide what's best for the club and the players. Why play hard for a man you know is off?

I think it's in the best interests of all involved that Conte is sacked as soon as possible. Tuchel is the obvious big hire that Levy would think could keep Kane. Personally the best approach might be to let Mason take over until the summer and assess all your options then.

Either way, Conte needs to be let go. He can then go back to Italy and spend time with his family.

I genuinely think Kane will be sold. I dont think he will pen a new deal and if he asks to leave I think Levy will be obligated to sell him. Mind you we need to get a top fee from United. 70m minimum, even if he is 30 and in the last year of his contract.

This will force Conte out, and to be honest he does need to go. He isnt prepared to commit long term. Weve seen Arteta take three and a half seasons to turn it around. Conte isnt up for a rebuild.

Another reason why Conte needs to go is he isnt prepared to look to youth. He doesnt want to play a youngster today to build him up 2-3 years from now. Saka played 26 games for Woolwich as a 17-18 year old. Of course he did, he was marked for the future and Arteta was looking years ahead. Conte cant even look beyond the present season. Conte doesnt want to know about players who could be ready 2-3 years from now. He will contribute nothing to helping them, because they cant help in in the present, and thats all he cares about.

Its not about whether Conte is a good manager, he certainly is. But he isnt a fit for us right now. We need a long term manager who will commit. Someone we can give a 4 year contract too, and not worry about them leaving because they dont have the patience. Because like it or not, we need a rebuild and a clear out.

I would be willing to ignore Poch and take a massive risk on an 'unproven' manager and back him properly. Arteta never managed before Woolwich gave him the job. It was his first ever first team position. I thought they were mental to give the job to a literal novice. A high risk decision and it looks good for them. Thats why I would pass on Poch, because its a 'safe' choice. I would rather go left field and give a young manager a proper chance. Sure it would be risky, but there comes high reward if it comes off

So let’s say he accepts an extension of his contract. Then what? What is it going to change? You think Levy is going to magically back him with the players he wants? If anything, it’ll make it even harder to sack him if shit hits the fan later on.

It was pretty obvious just looking at him, he's been just going through the motions for a few weeks. He checked out a while back and our esteemed chairman and DoF should have noticed and done something about it. Perhaps when he didnt sign a contract whilst the world cup was on, certainly after that Villa game. I have sympathy with Conte, we had a shite summer again (the writing was on the wall then imo) and losing 3 close friends cant be easy but the football was poor prior to that and if he's had enough he should do the decent thing and resign. If not the board need to grow a pair.

I am still surprised Conte wasn't clear in his mind what the level of investment would be .Surely he was well aware of the way Levy works and if he was spun a yarn he would be off .The whole appointment never stacked up even if I wanted to believe it would work out .

I hear you.

I think he sticks with a system and tries to embed it with quality players who can perform well within it.

He makes tactical changes depending on the opposition but rarely formation changes, but let's be honest that's not any different to the likes of Pep or Klopp who are wedded to their systems - both of them struggled until they had their players in and Conte hasn't had a full season yet. Plus lots of injuries to key players this year (Romero, Benta, Kulu, Rich, Son, Lucas) and some poor quality players in other key areas.

Conte asked for 4 windows and he should get them - there isn't many if any managers who would've turned the squad last season into a top 4 team. Give him some time and some reinforcements. Sacking him now would be disastrous imo - who would we even bring in to replace him?
If Conte wants 4 windows he should sign a contract that lasts 4 windows.

I think Levy is very good at manipulating people and telling them what they want to hear. He has also always put more money into the managers salary to keep them sweet.

The other thing that pisses me off is how cryptic conte and previous managers have been when talking about levy. I'm sure there are non disclosure agreements involved.

Welp well iv got to hand it to Levy. Antonio Conte is known as a tough and fiery manager that doesn't take any nonsense from owners and yet Levy has managed to leave him a broken, dejected and eunuched man. Taken the soul from him.

Another manager destroyed. Next.

I feel for the guy and in pure footballing sense I would rather him be here and be fully backed, but it’s quite obvious he’s not going to be around past the summer so a decision has to be made.

If he’s going to leave and we’re going to bring in Poch in the summer just do it now. This whole situation is a mess, this club never learn. They had an unprecedented months break from
November to sort out his contract situation and assess January transfer options. If he was unhappy with the plan going into January and not going to sign a deal then the club should of got rid and come out and explained to the fans why the visions were no longer aligning.

If the reason is he’s having doubts due to personal matters this also should of been sorted before January, we say to him you have to commit before the transfer window so we can make a plan for the future, if you’re homesick and don’t think you can commit just yet then sorry you have to go. Now we’re in limbo with a manager everyone from the players to the fans know won’t be here past the summer and unsure of what players to bring in as they will not only have to fit what Conte wants right now but also what our future manager will want.
