Very fair point. Hard to avoid it too annoyingly. If you reduce it all down to the biggest problem with Conte, its press conferences.
If he never spoke to the media, his relationship with fans would be very different.

Really not fussed about press conferences, for me its purely the quality of the football. If you reduce it all down to the biggest problem with Conte, its press conferences.

Of course it should have been, but there is a problem when you change the whole team giving minutes to players who aren't playing. It signals that this is an easy game and we should stroll through. It was the mentality that was the problem, not the absolute quality of the playersYes the Sheffield United defeat was unacceptable, I don't buy that the team selected wasn't good enough to win though, nor that the players were sent out with a 'don't worry too much about this one' message either.
There's more to be had from Conte but only with better players, especially defensively. At this stage I think it's done, Levy won't give him the two or three players he wants each window to improve us - it's this that worries me because with Kane potentially fucking off, we're gonna suffer in all sorts of ways and which manager will Levy do it for?
I just don't trust what happens next, that there's a plan, a philosophy, a road map for the next few years. With Conte at least, we have a manager of intensity who wins stuff, it's partly (along with a big injury list) why this year was different, his bereavements and illness took that intensity away from him and we've suffered as a result.
Can't see him being here next year in any respect.
We have introduced new elements in our play recently. Hojbjerg getting forward, Skipp being more expansive, Sarr , Dier stepping out into MF, Royal cutting in. Porro delivery, Richi energy up top. Its not as predictable as it was.Even though our performances are unpredictable under Conte, our tactics/style of play is too predictable. Other teams don't have to second guess anything apart from whether or not Richarlison will be playing.
Or an FA cup quarter final at home to Blackburn. Ho hum.Sure would be nice to have a mid-week game... Thanks a lot Tony!
But the counter point to that is two or three fold - if you don't give players minutes they get fucked off and demotivated, they don't grasp the system very well when you do need them regularly (due to injuries), and you're also giving them the chance to play well and stake a claim for a place more often.Of course it should have been, but there is a problem when you change the whole team giving minutes to players who aren't playing. You're right of course they should see it as a chance to stake their claim but we have seen so often with this group (conference league and other Cup exits) that they just don't. The answer imo is more rotation in league games. Make them feel valued members of the squad and give the likes of sarr and Richy more minutes throughout the season. Then they are fresh, ready and motivated when neededBut the counter point to that is two or three fold - if you don't give players minutes they get fucked off and demotivated, they don't grasp the system very well when you do need them regularly (due to injuries), and you're also giving them the chance to play well and stake a claim for a place more often.
Richy, Lucas, Sanchez and Sarr were the only 4 non regulars but they've all played this season at various times. PP obviously a new big signing. What do we do? Never rotate?
Any player who showed a poor mentality in that game (and I agree it was the mentality that was the problem), should be moved on if possible. To be honest there's only about 3 players who started that game that I'd be desperate to keep if given the choice.
Conte talks a lot about mentality and raising the level. I think this game bears him out. It's not a new thing for many of these players and they need moving on.
It's weird, we had a near identical results and GD this time last season and we went on a run and secured top 4 and we will most probably get it again.
I mean it's fine if you have a team built equipped to go for the league as long as you win it but going out of cups with as much as a whimper is poor, can Conte really only coach teams to play 1 game a week? And if so can you really call him elite?
Be good if we could have alternative formation though when the 343 isn't working. The match against AC Milan for example. We have introduced new elements in our play recently. At least he has character
Does it matter how you set up if there is fluidity and variation mid game?Be good if we could have alternative formation though when the 343 isn't working. The match against AC Milan for example.
Sometimes having an extra player in MF can make a difference in an otherwise stale game that we need to win. The thing is Conte won't change it when it's not working. He also is too late with substitutions. At least he has character

We do have variations and interchangeable fluidity. I already mentioned a few.Moot question considering we don't have those things; hence people are noting the absence of a plan B.
A character flaw is not character. At least he has character

This is very true.he has incredible character limits: he is not able to handle the criticism neither the defeats neither the failure.
and when he finds himself facing these things he speaks absolutely out of turn.
he has had 10-12 years of career, and always showed the same limits everywhere he went
Lolwas really enjoying this post until you suggested signing Adama Traore as a ball winning centre mid![]()
