Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Gray hasn’t even been tried at CDM for us yet. There’s literally no way for us to tell if he’s a hit or a dud in that position- no one has given him the chance. Given how well he’s done elsewhere though, do you really think he would be a flop at CDM?
you can tell hes a player from what weve seen in possession. watch him in tight spaces at the back, his footwork, decision making and ball out, is top class, better than any other defenders we have back there by a mile.

hes too good of a footballer to be wasted at the back. you need players with that ability in the midfield where they can affect a game more.

No idea why so many people think Gray is our saviour in midfield. He has not been above average the few minutes he has been asked to play there, the Everton game being very glaring.

Even at Leeds, he rarely played in centre midfield in his sole season there, with two thirds of his appearances as right back.

Unproven in central midfield in the Championship, yet seen as the solution to our midfield in the Premier League.

So i dont get where these thoughts are coming from.

Very fair comments. Can't argue with it and you're right, it's extremely early to say given his lack of midfield experience to date.

I'm excited about his potential and really hope he can develop a good run of games in that position over the course of the next 12-15 months.

What a 40 mil bargain this kid is turning out to be.

Shame about the Dragusin injury but if we’re being honest, Archie’s a better CB already.

I still think he ends up in a defensive mid role long term but he’s turned himself into a solid PL CB at age 18. Incredible.

Can’t wait to see Ange hopefully use him at the 6 in front of Romero, VdV and Vic!

I can imagine him likely getting minutes in that position once the above are back. If he does as expected I think the club will try and move either (or maybe both) bissouma snd bentancur out in the summer

He didn't play in midfield in the Everton match?

As bad as things have been in the league, imagine how much worse they would be if we hadn’t signed an 18 year old who can somehow cover every position on the pitch?

Looking top class at CB already but hope he gets a chance at #6

For as much as this injury situation we find ourselves in is horrendous Archie is developing so much quicker than would have if everyone stayed fit. The experience of playing week in week out in such a tough period for us will make him so much better quicker. The boy has turned to a man very quickly in such a short space of time. If we get our house in order he will be a Tottenham legend and future captain. If we don’t get our house in order he will move away very quickly and it will be another club that gets his best years and see him in his peak.

Totally agree - IF (not when IMHO) Tottenham get their shit in order he'll be poached within 5 years, that's if Archie continues to get better (which is more than possible) just based on salary alone (it's rumoured he's only on £70k a week)

Our players are paid like shit only 5 players are on more than £100K which I know sounds a lot but comparatively it's really bargain basement stuff.

Serious question, is Gray's best position going to be CB?
He reads the game fantasticly well even at 18 and has constantly out performed Dagusin.
Him and Davies were very good today and pairing Archie with a VDV, Romero or Danso could be a good partnership

Great buy, great guy.
He complimented Ben then mentioned all the other players he has been partnered with.
Love him. Thought he struggled a bit today but he never let it get to him - just kept going and got the job done.

Christ when I was his age I could barely pick my nose effectively- this prick is holding down CB for Spurs in one of the hardest busiest seasons we've had. Lad
