Blimey, tough crowd. He turned 19 in March in his 2nd year of senior football. First half of the season he did pretty well at centre back which he was totally new too. Like everyone else apart from probably Bergvall (who was getting called out first half of the season at 18) the worse we looked from December onwards then unsurprisingly his form fell off. Lets be honest we were a rabble last season, the coaching and tactical acumen were non existent. Gray will be fine.

I think he’s going to have a decent career. Nothing yet suggests a superstar but he will be a solid pro.

He was dreadful. Looked good generally at the back, even at left back but f me was so poor in MF
England U21's also playing him in the backline really does make me wonder why we're all taking the idea of him as a midfielder so seriously.

Why do we care what he was playing in the Leeds academy as a 16 year old? Everything he's shown against professionals (and he's shown a lot), points toward a defender.

Yeah totally agree our younger players will improve massively with Frank

He was a forward until 16’s too apparently

Agree on the defender. Zero 360 vision to play CM, just don’t see it

He has more combined appearances in MF than any other position.

Rb: 39
Cm: 23
Am:14
Dm: 11

48 MF appearances as a senior pro

Hmm, Leeds moved him around more than I realized, my understanding had been that he was their nailed-on RB all year.

In the play-off semifinals against Norwich Transfermarkt has him down as the #10 in the first leg then right back in the second, that's wild.

He’s just an unbelievable all round talent.

I think that’s why it’s a bit tough for fans to compute what he is just yet because he’s not a specialist anything yet. We all have our opinions on what he will be but he’s still 19.

Absolutely. Spurs absolutely could have fucked his confidence the way he was bucked in out of position from the get go. He had a few blips in the back but also some excellent performances, but seriously what the fuck do people expect from the guy. We have seasoned pros that are given excuses because they have to play out of position and I don’t mean mid field to back. I mean just not their “preferred position” within midfield. He’s been put in a position that some youngsters would have completely collapsed under. No one at the club has actually seen the real AG yet. I’m actually really impressed with the guy for the age of him and the maturity and bravery he’s shown doing well in what was a completely makeshift back line for so much of the season. He needs a restart and some coaching and some minutes in his real position, get the confidence up and then we can make a proper, you know, like fucking INFORMED decision. Jeez.
