Yeah, there's clearly been a big shift in the top PL clubs towards buying much younger. Chelsea are obviously the extreme example and we're basically doing a watered down version of their model.

Thing is, Chelsea spent 1 billion quid and played the numbers game. If you do that you're almost guaranteed to land a few superstars and they managed it with Palmer, Caiceido and Estevao. Without Palmer breaking through they may well have ended up in a similar spot to us as their form under Lampard as interim and Poch's first 6 months was bottom half.

Overall in terms of talent we've done pretty well too as Vuskovic and Bergvall look like they could be genuine stars, but we've not invested enough money to prevent the entire team tanking. Chelsea had a massive wobble and because we've done an cheap version of them, our wobble has been three times worse.

I guess we've also spent money on established players like Solanke, Kudus, Xavi and Gallagher, but even then the profiling has often been iffy and there's a serious lack of cohesion in the squad building - that's the stuff that Brighton and Brentford are incredible at. Every signing as a path to minutes and is designed to suit their house style.

Lange is a fraud and if he get relegated he deserves a massive share of the blame.
Completely agree.

There is a massive lack of character and common sense within Spurs leadership roles as well.
These are supposed to be the best football can offer, but even us fans on TFC could make better decisions for the football club.

When we signed club signing Djed Spence, a player Conte didnt want, that really emphasised this club will never be serious. Those are the types of signings that declines a football team, amongst others including Richarlison, Odobert, Tel and Johnson.

Johnson did win us the EL so credit there.

Yeah tbh the leadership deserved a big wake up call given the mismanagement of the club over the past decade. Given the money spent and the potential of the club the level of incompetence has been absolutely off the charts.

I think relegation would be unlucky as it's the freakish injuries that have tipped us from being simply incompetent to an utterly dysfunctional team, but it's deeply damning of Levy, Lange and the ENIC braintrust that we've been allowed to fall this far.

I agree.

Certainly injuries that have affected us the most this season, its impossible to form cohesion in play when the best players are getting constant and severe injuries.

Its just simply been a continuation from every season for the last 4-5 years.

Whats been needed is a revamp in the squad, player mentalities arent going to shift in a positive way.

Ange should have been sacked after S1 - the red flags were there, particularly the run late into the season, in which we played Newcastle, Woolwich and Pool. There were no excuses for that run.

The performance against Fulham, lost 3-0 and Newcastle 4-0.

I hadnt made my account then, but I was saying at the time to sack him because our form would continue into the next season. We did win the EL, but at expense of keeping Ange to finish 17th.

And whilst we finished 5th, based on the eye test, we ended the season abysmally.

My point is - there were many times Levy should have sacked him to avoid the timeline we are in now. Ange wasnt backed especially in his second summer, but we can go back even further into the Mourinho and Conte eras in terms of lack of backing.

Of course, this is all on the assumption that we're going to be in the Premier League next season. If we're relegated, we can pretty much say goodbye to every first team player currently on our books.

Gray is a player who might still be here because he still hasn't quite made the grade yet and a season in the Championship might do him some good. Same goes for players like Dane Scarlett, Mikey Moore etc. The fact that Bergvall, Gray, Spence and Udogie aren't on mega wages means the club might just be able to afford to keep them. These are players who could really shine in the Championship and would give us a much better chance of coming straight back up.

The established players like Solanke, Kudus, Simons, Romero, Vicario, Van de Ven, Bentancur and Porro will be gone. The first thing we should look for in the transfer market should be another goalkeeper as Kinsky and Austin won't be good enough for 1st choice (even for the Championship).

I'd also be inclined to extend Ben Davies's contract again and make him captain.
Exactly. Oddly enough the idea of being in the championship nearly excites me because we'd be left with all the players we actually like who care about the club. Ben Davies captain with the likes of Gray, Bergvall, Moore and Scarlett all starting would be fun.

I know i know. Its a disaster financially and we can probably kiss goodbye to ever being a top 6 team again if we do get relegated. But I just know I'd love my team again and enjoy watching them play every week if that happened.Right now I don't like my team and I hate watching them and it feels like this cycle could go on for years if we stay up. Especially if we are just siging 5 new players every season who just don't look like they want to be here. The Palhinha, RKM and Gallagher signings were jusst worrying. We really need to stop signing players for th sake of it and actually get players we need if we do stay up.

Palhinha and Gallagher are about the only two senior players that look like they do want to be here and are trying for the club. RKM i'll give you, he's been shite.

Not necessarily. Villa went down in 2016 and they've come back stronger than ever.

But, ultimately, you never know what trajectory a club will take with relegation. There are a lot of clubs that went down with an entitlement complex that have struggled.

The ideal scenario would be that Tudor gets us playing again and we stay up and we make the changes necessary to make us competitive in the Premier League again but step one with that is getting rid of the clowns who have been running the club since Levy left.

Whatever anyone says about Levy, he got things sorted out when they needed to be sorted out. When managers needed to be sacked, they were sacked; when we needed to sign players to bolster the squad, they were signed. I'd like to think that if Levy had still been here, Frank would have gone before the window and Tudor would have got some reinforcements. We might even be in a slightly more comfortable position in the league if not exactly where we want to be.

Yup. Levy would have sacked Frank in November and Paritici wanted the same. We lost Jim Wells too because he didn't want to work under Frank. Vinai and Lange had a complete nightmare backing him and then signing their own players in January.

Atleast Levy and Paritici would have had Tudor in before the January window and given him some of his preferred reinforcements. Its a shitshow ever since Vinai got control.

I just keep thinking about Sheffield Wednesday. That's the thing that scares me. I see the scale of their descent and its possible. There is void at Spurs that is NOT being filled by people who care about the club. I told you lot there's not a load of fans working at Spurs and only Ledley and a few other legends doing game day hospitality. Get football people and fans back involved with the decision making its the first thing we do whether we ho down or stay up.

Man said "game effecting performances"

I then put up the stats where he's literally the worst performing midfielder in his position in numerous aspects and he will simply ignore, say it's Franks fault then a week or so later will tell us about his exciting performances again.

Rinse and repeat.
You're a better man than I.

Had to block him, my patience for his bs eventually ran out.

If he were homegrown rather than a 40M signing that didn't really serve our needs at that time we'd be saying he was the next Claude Makelele
I was a central player and actually played full back for a while. Absolutely fucking hated it. I imagine archie feels the same. Did well on our goal and he's good on the ball. Should never of been played at full back and used as a plaster. If you want to get the best out of him he needs to be doing his work further up.

Get him in CM and the team will be better

He’s just punished by playing FB because he stays fit.

Criminally misused by this football club. Will go on to bigger and better things once he gets away from this shit show and will be an England regular.

only one to come away with any credit, needs to be central. have him next to bissouma and simons just in front and try and get some actual football played. wingers are a waste of time we have no quality out there and its braindead stuff that does nothing for us but harm.
