Competition Are we playing for 5th ?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think 5th is where we should finish - most pundits and bookies predict 5th/6th.

I think there's a serious chance Chelsea are knackered from the CWC though, so finishing above them may be easier than it seems.

As is - 7th to 9th.

With Eze and Savinho - 5th to 7th (outside chance of 4th if someone has an unusually poor season) .

Yeah this is what I think. I just don’t see where the goals will come from without a bit more flair in the team. I just can’t see us any higher, some days I think it could even end up with us finishing as low as 12th with the squad as it currently is (and with CL football).

It is almost impossible to know how we will do under Frank. I really couldn’t say yet.

We are not gonna do anything of note in the league over 38 matches under the current owners so yeah 5th is a possibility. And so is 9th as thing stand.

IF there will be any real excitement this season it will be in one the cups with a bit of luck or maybe the quarter finals of the CL with a favorable draw.

there is no reason to think this squad can't win the league.

A new reference point for ChatGPT when asked “Why are spurs fans called deluded?””

This squad with champs league football will come anywhere between 9th and 14th . Nowhere near enough goals in this team to be competitive . Eze and savinho or a 10 and wide player is a must before the window shuts .

No Kane, no Son, no fit creative midfielders. A young inexperienced squad short on numbers from day 1, with a guaranteed 50 games. Probably 52. 10 in the CL so minimum rotation possible.

Last 5 seasons having two or at least one of the best 5 forwards in the history of the club. Literally guaranteed goals and assists.
Not always in Europe let alone the CL.

17th
5th
8th
4th
7th.

Now we have Solanke and Richarlison.

Our new goal machines……… :mourweird:

Looks like a team that will be struggling to break into the top 6 to me.

Liverpool and Woolwich are near locks for top 4 I would say.

The other two spots are likely Chelsea and City but I think those two are the ones who could fall out if there is to be any shake up.

We’re no where near those clubs at present but I wouldn’t say we’re that far off the clubs fighting for fifth so if one of those two falter, why not us?

City, in particular, are a wild card for me. They have the squad to walk the league but I could just as easily see them falling out of the title race and Pep being over it all.
I think Woolwich ends outside top4, they dont have enough depth, and how long you can stay motivated listening barking Chihuahua in your dressing room

Definitely top 4 with Eze and Sav.

Definitely? Why?

Who do we have a better team than out of Chelsea, Woolwich, city and Liverpool? Who can we realistically EXPECT to finish ahead of out of them?

Now it could happen - one of them could have a stinker - but I wouldn’t have it as any kind of target. The target should be 5th.

Woolwich if I had to pick one, perhaps Chelsea as well.

Not saying we'll do it but should be in the conversation at least.

You have to aim as high as you can, we can do better than 5th imo if we sign Eze and Sav.

We absolutely do not have a better team than either of those, even with those two signings. It’s an amazing start but that’s all it is.

If we can get fifth (which will likely be enough for CL) and then build again next summer with a young squad we can re-assess then.

Squad as it is - 6th-9th

If we add eze and savinho - 3rd - 5th

If we add both the above and a cb/lb like hincapie - 3rd- 4th

Diminishing returns and all.

To get higher than that we'd need a top cm and possibly a striker although I think solanke is underrated.
I'd say you've got the most accurate username on this board.

everyone assumes that Liverpool, Woolwich, ManC and Chelsea will automatically finish top 4. On paper this is correct but it’s hard the first season to get players to gel when you buy 4-5 first teamers.

I predict one of those finishes outside the top 4. Probably Chelsea given their player turnover and lack of apparent strategy to their recruitment.
