To be fair that's because they cashed in on Lukaku who had previously been deemed un-transferable by the owners. With £100m from him they don't really need to go crazy selling other players, not for lesser fees anyway.

Problem is it sets a precedent that other unscrupulous players and agents would follow.
I susprect keeping him until 31 January and releasing him the days after transfer window closes (so he cannot sign for another club until summer) is probably the way forward.
But if he signs for another club this summer, even better

Can't, you end up like Woolwich with half the squad looking to break their contracts .... would be fine in this case but sets a terrible precedent.
